  1. Thanks, I made an offer about a month ago on that one. Wants way too much
  2. Will take both cover and body. Any extra parts would be a plus. cord switch etc. An inside picture to match it up would be great Greg
  3. Check to make sure the actual depth that your Starboard side rigger is with the counter on the downrigger, while the boat IS NOT moving. You may not be as close to the bottom as you think you are. With my one downrigger, I need to go 9 feet less (it was reading less and I was deeper) to make it accurate. What I end up doing is just turning the counter so it adds 9 feet. That was at 90 feet of water. Might be just as easy for you to bounce bottom and bring it up a bit
  4. Yes, thanks John
  5. Looking for 1996 or newer Predator, Prowler, Rampage. Will consider a C-Stalker or C-Hunter. I'm not interested in a Baha at this time
  6. Thanks KD, I'll take a ride and look for it Greg
  7. I haven't received much of a reply on this UV fly material, on another post I started. So either the stuff is NOT that great and its just manufacturers HYPE or everyone is keeping it a big secret? Hummm
  8. Thanks, I enjoyed reading that article. One part caught my attention. "The report concludes, “as water becomes more turbid, differences in penetration of blue and red light become less.†According to more recent studies in freshwater, red can actually penetrate deeper than blue in highly turbid conditions.". So a day after a big blow, red should come into play here on Lake Ontario.
  9. I often thought about using a heavyer and longer leader to slow down the motion for those larger Kings. I like the eyes. It gives it a little more 3-D Thanks for your input
  10. When you step on board my vessel, you become a sailor. Please be shore to pay respect to those things that sailors cherish and believe.

  11. There’s a lot of intelligent fishermen on this board. And intelligent input could be a good thing 1. Do you feel that UV fly skirts caught you more fish than the non UV flies caught? 2. If you wanted the perfect UV fly, what color/colors would it be? 3. What color would the head be? 4. What is your favorite color beads? I'm going to average out this poll and make a fly. I'll take pics when I'm done. I did this a few years ago on GLA and came up with a fly that looked like a Die Hard but I never caught anything on it. Maybe if it's UV, it will catch fish! Thanks guys
  12. Of course there are exceptions to my thoughts and this is one of them. A child catching his first salmon, yea!
  13. Thanks, I ordered from Purple Taco Fly Supply
  14. Anyone know who sells trolling fly tying materials online?
  15. I don’t assume that ALL charters are keeping 15" fish but I see these “fly by night†end of season types & recs keep these small fish. With that and the overall survival rate of these fish, how can it not have a neg. impact? I’m just glad I’m not a fish cleaner, I’d go nuts. I talked to one fish cleaner and he sees it all day long. He just shruggs his shoulders, he's jaded to it. As far as tourneys, they could use a size limit too. Not good for the fishermen but good for the fish. Oh, if the guy is that bad off that he needs to feed his family these fish, chances are he doesn’t even have a boat to fish out of. Come on… I’m done, think the way you want, I’d NEVER keep a 15†2-3 lb. Skippy salmon. That’s not what they’re planted here for.
  16. Open waters. Its a big lake
  17. Well.... if you need to keep a 15" fish, either you don't fish too often, don't have many years of fishing under your belt or you don't catch many fish! Or, you need to bring every fish back to the dock, to show your buddies that you're the great white hunter. Lets face it, it's all about the thrill of catching a big fish.. A 15" fish doesn't do it for me. Let it grow a few years and it will. After 20 years of fishing these salmon, you'll get over it.
  18. Details my
  19. What "Sport" does anyone see in keeping a 15" Chinook Salmon? For most of us here its the thrill of catching big fish. Considering the size potential, a 15" Chinook is a skippy in my eyes. I’d be totally embarrassed to bring a 15†salmon out of my cooler I say "let it grow".
  20. Do all those fish come with it?
  21. Going to ty some flys up. Anyone use red trebles?
  22. I agree Skipper Maybe the state will soon come to the conclusion that there needs to be a size limit on ALL Lake Ontario fish? Sure, I know its a put & take fishery but if we take more than the state puts???
  23. WTC, I hope you're right. With the year we've just had, it just seems like charters and regular fishers are keeping everything they catch, big or small. I can hardly wait to see what's left for Brown Trout this Spring on the east end of the lake. No salmon to be caught makes it bad for the trout population. The DEC better sharpen their pencil for stocking numbers this coming Spring
  24. I'm talking about 1-2 year old fish. Yes, charters should educate their clients about the fishery. It would probably make them think differently about the whole fish cycle. I too only keep just a few fish every year. This year I kept four fish all season.
