  2. Anyone looking to repair the Ray Jeff Command Trol 285 probe , Marathon Tech out of Fla. still fixes them. They don’t have the housings but have all the other parts. Only problem is they get about $160 to repair them. But if you're desprit... (305) 592-1340 Web http://maracommarine.com/rayjeff/RAY%20JEFF.htm
  3. My Ripp started having problems with walking. He would trip a few times during a walk and I just figured he wasn't paying attention to where he was going. Then it started happening more and he seemed to lay around a lot more often. Then one day he fell back onto his hind legs. We took him to the vet and had bloodwork done. Test cam back positive for limes plus he had joint problems. The vet put him on meds but nothing seemed to work.
  4. From all the posts, it again proves that old adage “Dog is mans best friend†Sadfully less than a week ago, we had our best friend Ripp put down after 12 fun years. A Siberian Husky who brought lots joy and laughter to our lives. He was a talker who he thought he was human. He loved all people food, especially pizza and spaghetti so maybe he was Italian. He also loved his walks around the campground at K&G. He didn’t fish with us but that was only to protect him from hooks and other things that could happen on a boat. He surcome to a tick borne disease. Unbeknown to me, ticks can carry several diseases. He was an indoors pet and received his yearly shots, including the limes shot. Now I’m thinking the Frontline stuff may have prevented this from happening. Who knows. Brian, I feel your pain.

    Smoked Walleye

I know it would be a sin but anyone ever smoke Waleye? How did they turn out?
  6. I was thinking about stray voltage and stuff like that. I know I can test for stray voltage but... I never did. I use Cannon Mag20 riggers. These have the autostop built in and also ion control. It takes some voltage for the autostop to work, so its always putting voltage into the water. Any of you guys using riggers with the autostop feature ever try unplugging the rigger, so its not putting voltage into the water and help catch more fish? Did ya ever just try it? And the results was?
  7. Anyone using one of these? How do you like it? Both of my old ray jeff 285 are shot. Time to buy something else but don't want something with an extra cable like the st 900 or that other one
  8. The name sounded familiar Jeff and I’m not laughing. I bought 2 of them off the manufacturers rep that live on W. Lake road (I think), west of Oswego. The blade on the ones I bought are 6.5 inches, made of 440 stainless and with a rubber type handle. I bought these with Walleye in mind and they cut like butter. They were only $4 each
  9. Another type made some years back was called the DOWNJIGGER
  10. I know for a fact that fishermen are always thinking of better ways to catch fish. Anyone come up with an invention that they would like to share with us? Not like a new fly or lure color (anyone can do that). Something that nobody has thought of. Pictures would be great!
  11. I used 12 lb torpedo weights on mine without a problem on a 3 foot boom. I didn't like them on a 4 foot boom.
  12. Here's a chart I used, years ago.
  13. Do you carry any good luck charms? You're going to need them. I fished 4 hours last Tuesday (mid day)with one foul hooked small salmon and one adult that took three lines, then broke off. I trolled 6 hours without a hit on Thursday. I don't feel bad because the charters weren't catching anything either. It didn't help that my down temp & speed wasn't working
  14. Just called US Coast Guard in Oswego and asked the question. Their answer was NO, only if the boat leaves the dock, then you need a lifejacket for every person..
  15. The reason I ask is because I can only find on the internet where it says (while under power). Nothing about tied up to the dock. It would be helpful if someone had something in print.
  16. Hey, what the heck. My kittens could eat good for a few weeks on those.
  17. Nice fish but it hurts my neck
  18. ok, Oswego Harborfest is just around the corner. If I have 10 guests sitting in by boat (at the dock, motor not running), do I need 10 life jackets? I took and passed the US Coastguard Auxiliary course 24 years ago and just don’t remember all the regs.
  19. Having too much gear in the water didn't help things
  20. Mix half water & half mouthwash in a spray bottle
  21. Ass, gas or beer. Nobody rides free!
  22. It was a long time ago, I took the boating course but I don’t remember there being a boat to boat safe distance law. I believe it’s a common sense thing. A lot of boaters don’t have that.
  23. That’s just lovely. Does anyone think those fish might be naturally spawned fish, not hatchery fish? I know the local Indian River system Perch are loaded with them but not that large
  24. Try just about any launch near the lake that has night lights and a dock. They come in after dark
  25. OSWEGO ISN'T THAT GREAT ANYMORE EITHER It was good until the charters came and vacuumed them out. And that you can't deny. I won't go into detail
