  1. I'm trying to find information about fingerling stockings by year and port. Is there a site with this information? I can't seem to find it if there is. Thanks, Jeff
  2. Lost mine outa Olcott, by the red barn over 120fow.
  3. lost a net, a dipsy/flasher/fly and 150' copper last weekend. Talked with 2 other guys that both lost a probe. must have been a "moon phase" the net floated long enough for us to turn back on it and reach out to grab then it dove to the bottom.
  4. I bought a crestliner sabre hard top just before the spring derby and kinda threw everything in it overnight..its been at the lake since and haven't had a chance to hook everything up properly...now it's time to clean up my mess. Just wondered if you guys prefer ff/gps, probe display, marine radio..etc. overhead or on the dash..I don't have enough room to mount in dash but there is plenty of room on the dash. Also thought about mounting a small fuse block on the dash for easy access and only running 1 wire up throught the dash vs running 4 sets of wires down, also leaves room for running other things like a fan or maybe lights, and easy access to fuses. Any input is greatly appreciated.
  5. I have 4 1101 9' and 1 8'3 light action ugly sticks for rigger rods...0 problems in 2 years...probly at least a dozen 20+ lbers on each rod in that time frame. I will say the tip section does rotate a little during the day but nothing major. Hard to believe shakespeare wont stand behind them.
  6. I had Kevin at Wilson Boatyard install a raymarine spx5 on my crestliner sabre and so far I love it. Out in 1 to 3 footers and no problems at all maintaining course. It is a little noisy, but being able to set lines and not worrying about tangles is priceless. Also steers my kicker without issues so far.
  7. lower niagra for smallies would be my fallout plan.
  8. We run 12lbs no problems.
  9. Anyone else catching alot of fish with lampreys this year? We got 3 more last weekend out of olcott bringing yearly total to 16. 2 of them were 26" long and around 2" wide, nasty buggers made my fishing partners jump like school girls to get away from them. Of course they didn't make it back into the lake alive. One was on a king and the other on a brown trout about half its size. Neither fish looked very healthty. Here's a blurry pic of one of them on the boat floor. This one may actually be longer than 26" ...the section of boat floor it's laying on is 2' wide. Jeff.
  10. 2.2 works best for me most days...some days 1.9 others 2.4... rarely faster.
  11. Same here..charged after items arrived on last order.
  12. The ones I have are silver-nickel and are 1/0. Also have a few 2/0 and 1's. Sent you a pm.
  13. How many are you looking to buy? I bought a guy out of them a couple of months ago and have way too many...might be able to part with 50 or 100.
  14. Sold my old boat yesterday and the guy wants my lowrance so..with all the negative posts and having issues with my unit I'm gonna let it go and buy a new stand alone unit. What are you guys running or what would you suggest. Garmins are suppose to be good but I've had trouble with their auto units and am a little reluctant to buy one for my boat. Not concerned about a color unit but I do want one that is compatible with my navionics fishnchip, I'd buy a combo unit if price is close to a stand alone. Thanks, Jeff
  15. We run the 9' light ugly sticks with no problems so far. Haven't got bit by a 30+lb yet, but many in the 20-27 lb range with no problems. Ours are paired with shimano charter specials..works well for all species.
  16. no coho's or atlantics since memorial day for us.
  17. ditch the magda and run mono to the flasher, no need for floro as this is not a stealthy presentation and the mono will give more due to stretch. what you've already lost in tackle would've paid for a better reel...I learned that the hard way too. We run 50# big game between dipsy and fly and use a dreamweaver snubber some of the time but not always. downside to 50# is if you have a blemish in your wire you'll lose everything--not just the flasher/fly. Haven't lost any setups this year but have lost a couple hooks. Check your leaders and wire frequently, wire is very abrasive and will scuff your leader material if they touch and if the wire gets kinked or frays you'll lose everything. we moved away from okuma products all together. too much trouble with every one i owned...magda..convector...avenger...all drag issues...too tight ....too loose...none at all...swithced to daiwa and shimano and no more issues...costly but better than lost tackle/fish for me...watch for sales and use coupons..or buy used.
  18. Does anyone know how many people actually enter the LOC derby? Was just curious if it was around a thousand or more like five thousand or so? Thanks, Jeff
  19. Great replies guys, thanks for all the input.
  20. Thanks Paul, that makes me feel a little better about the whole situation. Maybe overthinking like you said. Just want to eliminate any possible bad situations. I've donated too much tackle to Lake O over the past couple years and sure would like to boat a 30 pounder. Seems like the biggest fish keep getting the best of us and it sure is heartbreaking to battle a fish 40+ minutes and come up empty, then do it again 15 minutes later and have the same thing happen all over again. Guess that's why it's called fishing and not catching.
  21. For the gap between hooks, bend of the octopus to eye of the treble with beads filling the gap. Definately not coho taking the hooks. Both fish took over 600 ft on 1st run. Deploy dipsys with drag set tight enough they go out slowly and often times draw strikes while going out. I did notice a little curl in the leader before it happened the 1st time but found no kinks and didn't think to re tie a new one...could've had the hooks catch the line I guess. I'm thinking bad floro...1st trip using these leaders tied over the winter...going to use old leaders next trip and see if that helps. We did manage a dozen or so teenagers and 1 pushing 24lbs on the same setups, but the big ones got away . Thanks for all the input.
  22. Do tie my own and wrap the tag end before snelling. Maybe we'll try the glue or tubing. The only other thing I can think of is maybe I didn't wet the floro on a couple of the leaders before pulling the snell tight. Might be a weak point.
  23. We had 2 majors breakoff this weekend and both were right at the hooks on the fly. The fly came back all tangled up in the 50lb floro but no hooks. Any ideas on what might be the problem? With the fly coming back I'm thinking the line must have been twisted up before the line broke, otherwise the fly would've been gone too. Both were brand new leaders so I'm pretty sure there were no knicks in the line. Thanks, Jeff
  24. I have 1 tekota and 2 saltist..would trade the tekota for another saltist in a heartbeat. Drag was sticky right out of the box on the tekota. It's a nice reel don't get me wrong, but for that kind of money the drag should be much better from the factory. Saltist has a butter smooth drag and I love the retrieve rate.
