Did the lake turn over?
baitrigger replied to markmonkey1's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
There have been warm spots the last three weeks from ollcott to the bar. Low to mid 50s. Thats at 50' down. Bite stops when temp moves to low 40s.surface stays consistant. I wouldnt be without temp probe. -

Cabelas makes it worth the trip to the store. Bring your smart phone. They match cheapest on line price on all products. Bargin cave is a real cave. They sell returns and discontinued products for pennys on the dollar. It took me eight hours to go through the store in maine. Same in ct, pa, wv, mi. Its a crack house for guys addicted to hunting and fishing.

I love the flies and put your rattles on everything. Before the final swivel on every rod, on all my sliders and of course my flies. The one must have on LO...a-tom-mik.

If the boats in good shape. There is nothing wrong with the price. Thats dirt cheap for that rig. Of course everything changes live and in person.

Great service too. Tony is the bomb when it comes to new set ups. He stands behind what he sells as well.

We use four on the boat. Haad a motor go last year. Motors cant be found anywhere. We bought four from the lou classified. They are interchangeable. We keep extras. Most cost effective way to go.

copper and lead off of big boards
baitrigger replied to BAITNH's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
If your running a 300' copper and 300' core on the same board. The lead goes out first. Big kings go back and up. They go over the copper. If you have a single line on each side. There is no issue. -
I always run a f/f on a deep rigger. Spoons on the shallow. F/fly may be why your dipseys are hot. If FF is workin we put more out and cut back on spoons. Greens, chartruse, blue and black are great spoon colors. Wonderbread has never been good to me. Mix it up and play the hot colors and combos. We put copper and core out in different lengths and by the end of the day we are down to whats been hot. Im rambling. Hope this is useful.

Two years ago i got a boga grip for the boat. We soon realized it was great for releasing the thousands of fish we caught. Lol. We took it a step further. We tied a nylon cord to an inside cleat. We than attached a climing release to the other end. When we do catch a fish, we hook it to the boga and conect the climing release to the bogas wrist strap and set the fish in the water. By the time we set gear, the fish is jumpin and ready to go. No more leaning over the side to revive. I have ment to share this for awhile because it has worked so well for us. Caution skippys and small steelies jaws cant handle the boga. They will rip in half. If you support their weight until they are in the water it works great. Anything that gets gear back to work is a good thing.

Has been. I have enjoyed those crowded tribs for years. It is an art. Avoid the goons snagging the mud sharks. The last straw in the bribs was two years ago. Three guys in their mid twenties asked if they could use my scissors. I gave them up. Ten minutes passed and i walked behind a group of trees. The three men were just finishing up and gave me back my sissors with a harty thanks. They had used them to belly cut a nice 10 lb brown hen. Pouch the eggs and leave the rest of the fish in the woods. This is repeated on a dailly basis. Kings, steelies and browns. Why are there so many people in the bribs. Because they are full of fish. Theres no need for water temp or speed. You find something they like and hit them in the head. A ten year old can do it. It is one step above a cain pole and a worm. That doesnt mean its not fun. Its elementry fishing. I just dont understand the superiority complex. Trolling is a team sport. Targeting fish while they spawn is not as much sport as easy catching. KINGS RULE!!!
