The state has taken out the booth and live toll taker. There is a new automated teller. Stick your money in and it gives you a ticket in return for your dash. No change is given. No large bills. Five or less. Please get change before you get there. Three guys holding things up for fifteen minutes lookin for change. Now we know.

Im not up on the gun boats either. Been hangin around lewiston thirty years now. The canadians do have a white boat that looks like a fishing boat. It has come right up on us a couple times in the last year. They go out to 400 fow and come in when they decide to inspect someone.

You always hear "find something you love and it doesnt feel like work". I love chasing kings around lake O. A couple of years ago I decided to fish two full weeks(fall LOC). My favorite hobby, obsession started to feel like work. Cant even imagine mixing buissness aspects with the hours and ware and tare on gear. Too much of a good thing... -

Grab a copy of the new england version of on the water. A great monthly publication. All stripers all the time. I live near buffalo and work in long island. The mag made it very easy to pick the right spot and gear. Dont get too fancy. Chest waiters, 9ft musky rod, and large surface poppers are a riot. Read a few articles regarding tides in the area your fishing. Its all about the tides. Fishing is much better at night. Good hat light is a must. Dont forget xtra batteries. Nothing worse than getting into a school and running out of light. Eels rock if your goin with live bait.

charter tipping
baitrigger replied to ohkwari09's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
I want to give all the captains a gold star. You have to be a special kind of person to do it. You have to have the knowhow to fish the lake through all its ups and downs. You work in a high service field. You put up with the bad ones(you know what i mean). Worst of all, people are touching your gear all day. That would drive me crazy. Take a charter...Tip the man... -

The lake was in all her glory Friday afternoon. The weather front that came through was pretty spectacular. The sky turned dark blue and the water was florecent green. That was just the start of the fun. We pulled up and headed for the fort. We launched from the north ramp that morning. A large pleasure boat with a couple riggers passed us going about 25 mph. From the moulth of the niagara to four mile was loaded with wood all morning. The lake went from flat to 3 footers in ten minutes. The boat was being blown sideways. That is one captain who was very lucky to get to the ramp without a major problem. We trucked in at 10 mph or so. This wasnt the worst change a remember, but it was one of the fastest. This is not where the fun stopped. As we approached the north ramp there were three boats waiting to get out. The boat that had passed us, and two good sized center councils. One cc was tied up on the north dock, tied up as far north as possible. The second was out in a holding pattern. We always exit from the south dock, so without thought we hit the dock. I tied off the boat and my fishin buddy went for the truck. The guys in the cc that was out in the water were yelling at the one that was tied up to move forward so they could dock. The guy on the dock yelled back that the boat was too big for him to move by himself. That started the F bombs flying. I laughed to myself, but the show wasn't over. The boat that had passed us had dropped off the driver, and had a drive on trailer. So they were out pretty quick. I turned my attention back to the north dock and the guy whose boat was too big to move had been intimidated into trying too move foreward. Well turns out he wasn't kidding he was close to losing it. It is easier if you hold both lines,Front and rear. His partner got there in time to save the day. Then came the strangest load onto a trailer I' ve ever seen. The F bombs are really flying now. It seems the first cc driver had to get his waiters on to load the boat. Hip waiters secured he walks down into the water. Should have wore chest waiters cause he goes in right up to his waist. The second cc is now tying up. Big moulth and waist is screamin hes gonna f-ing kill the two getting out of the water, or goin in for a swim, not quite sure. Our boat is loaded now so we left shakin are heads. We head down river road toward lewiston and find ourselfs behind the plesure boat that had passed us. He is driving 20 mph in a 45 mph zone. His vhf antenna fully extended. He hit every power line and low tree between Youngstown and Lewiston. All three had PA plates on trucks and trailers. I know you all are on vacation. Maybe drink less. It makes fishing more fun. Hell maybe it was just the tough bite(see fishing reports). A truly surreal forty minutes. Thanks Lady O.

Niagara Bar
baitrigger replied to Mr.Wooleye's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Cold water from the river is the problem. I was out saturday and lakers were all there was. They were on the slow side because they were stuffed with smelt. We must have said it seems like march ten times. All the kings are coming from canada. -
niagara smelt
baitrigger replied to icelegend09's topic in Ontario, CA Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (North Shore)
Lakers on the bar are stuffed with smelt. The run is in full gear. -
Niagara river is in full run. Lakers near the bar are stuffed full of smelt. Cold river water still is making a mess of the bar. Fishing does not match the reports from east. Temps are still hovering around 38 degrees.

Olcott 5/1
baitrigger replied to Matt Bedient's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Thats a bad feeling. Better luck tomrrow. -
I run four riggers. They tangle right away on the back two. They work well on the outsides when teamed with wingers.

Best Time to Fish Ontario
baitrigger replied to ksc4488's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Look at the loc. Dates. Thats the best time. Monsters even in a slow year. If you only get a half dozen, you'll remember the trip for a long time. Use cation, kings can be hazardous to your wallet. -
That is true. I must have looked at a past year.
