  1. Lets go for 200. Who has the right of way when combat trolling. Is it the idiot with the boards out or the frickin sailboats. How close does someone have to get to your spread before you start screamin at em. I think its legal to open fire if the same biat screws with you more than two times in one day.
  2. Wow. This has gone many directions. Some interesting points. We are in need of some warm air and water. I need to catch some kings. None of us will have time for any of this come june. Cabin fever sucks. I would like to touch on why kings are the king. Most of you know already. Rod fires, you scramble to pick it up. Your line is straight down, you feel a head bob and know there is a fish, or is it an old boot? Another rod fires. This time Before you can get to the rod the drag is SCREAMIN. First run takes 200' of line. You work him into a good spot to bring him in through your spread. As you reach out over him with th net er eyes roll up and liook right at you. She flicks her tail one time and dives, seventy five more feet of line GONE. Ten more minutes and shes on the deck. Yelling, laughing, picture taking, rule the boat for ten minutes. The mood on the boat has changed for the entire trip. Your crew is no longer wondering if the kings are here but when the next one is going to hit! Thats why i call them KINGS.
  3. Hey ill take all. I drive a truck between buffalo and NYC. I pass by four times a week.716-352-6546
  4. I love it mark. We got a boga for the first time last year. We call it the sheep trout tool. Grab em over the side. No net required. Pop the hook out and no slime. The biggest advantage comes in summer months. More than half of the ancle bitting flies are there to feast on laker slime.
  5. Wow, this is highjacking of the highest order. My post was all about water temps at the bar. All good buissnessmen use customer feedback as a tool. A vast majority seem to support big fish. To have an opinion is everyones right. The laker is the underdog. Everyone roots for the underdog. Dont know how anyone can run charters. I run four days a week in good times. It is exhusting. Fishing with newbies doubles that feeling. I dont know how anyone can put up with people touch thier gear. Com'on you guys KINGS ROCK. Everthing else is killin time.
  6. Top end rocket launcher would be a great place to start.its nice to know how tall she is. What ever you do, enjoy it. Great lookin rig.
  7. I have to say, entres dont go down because the loc is a top notch event. Dave will get my money this year. It is the best derby for us weekenders. It is just like buyin a in the ground ticket. It doesnt cost more than a weeks food bill. I was lucky enought to be in on a spring winner a few years ago and Dave and his crew made it a huge affair for all. I have not been in the money since. We have a rule on our boat when loc fishing. We look at last years results and our fish has to be within three lbs of last years winner to weigh it. This applies to lakers(sheep trout.) East of ollcott is out east to me. Rochester is 75 miles east of me. Just to clear the air.
  8. PA uppdate still shooting for 5/1
  9. Im a fan of big fish. Thats all im sayin
  10. Still gotta grab a silver to be the big winner. Brown and green wont do it.
  11. We use blacks in line with a rubberband. Works great
  12. The last two posts bring two good points. The spring leaderboard for lakers is ninty percent west end fish. I know they catch lakers east. The size is west. They are not lucky catches. It is long hours. Twenty lakers in hour can happen west. I dont target lakers. As for weigh in, there are still twenty paid finishes. Are people really taking less? I imagine what the lake would be like if we took less salmon, that would be great. I take six fish in the spring. Practice catch and release the rest of the year. The laker population seems to be doin just fine..
  13. It is the rule above. Wet net charters is run by Matt yoblanski. Sorry think i spelled it wrong. Matt and a few others were to good at bringing in the big lakers. He has ten plus loc finishes. Including grand prizes. The loc is based on the east side of the lake. The captins and loc managment have continued to slant the rules ,not to make it a salmon derby. To give the advantage to the east end of the lake. They dont catch lakers in the spring on the east end.
  14. We took twelve hours to scout the bar saturday. We were the only boat to pass the green can and head for open water. Surface temp 33, down temp35. Ugly cold water. It was stained and full of debris. It felt like march fishing. The west end is further behind than i thought. We did manage a dozen lakers. Im guessing the spring loc will be decided in the second week this year. Hope to see silver before June.
  15. A tom mik
  16. Man, i havent even made it out yet and you guys are talking fleas. Your makin me nervous just thinking about them. One of the worst things in the lake. You get a huge POP, the fish runs. Its a king! You get a third of the reel back, then it happens. Top eye on your pole is jammed with fleas.no 25lb king for you!!!
  17. We wait until june for the copper. Lead is king in spring.penn 330 with ten colors!
  18. Down to 35% coverage.
  19. Local towns get updates from the PA.
