  1. Maybe tie one on in late august. It might get ya thinking. What harm could that do? Truth be told, I dont use them anymore. I lost a half dozen kings in the fall about five years ago because of dipsey lines. Fish hit on the riggers, took off and broke across the wire. Dont throw those silvers away. Great for steelies and blue bird skies.
  2. Do you use black divers tim?
  3. I didnt mean you wont catch any. Fish are stupid. I stole that from dome other post. A neighbor of mine who is a basshole decided to hit lady O last summer. He came over to my house and borrowed a couple Sd/fly set ups. I also gave him a half dozen spoons. He came back that night and had six kings and a couple steelies. One king was a 25lber. I asked what he got it on. He pulls out a 9 inch, army green jointed pike plug. I have not added one to my spread. Most guys are looking for consistacy. Black for kings.
  4. Black is all about the kings. Orange and silver work great for trout. The kings will leave the colors alone. This is also true with dipseys.
  5. No. Not in Janurary.
  6. My experience is not extensive. Through research there isnt a big performance difference. If you have power steering you need the hydrolic version. If you have a cable system, you need mechanical "cable steer". I was blown away using the simrad cable version. I should have bought one ten years ago.
  7. Wwiv. You should be more concerned with the pump. You know your only getting .08754 gallons when the read out says 1.
  8. We ran a new to us boat with a simrad last fall. First experiance with autopilot. The last day we were out, eight footers were coming from the north. Unit is point and shoot. It seemed bullet proof. What a powerful tool. I cant wait to see how it handles through a full season.
  9. Interesting. I use an x4 purchased in 2010. Everything works great except surface speed. Have calibrated by the book many times. I did have a problem with my probe as well. I sent it in after two years and they sent me a new one, at no charge, in less than a week. Out standing product and service. I wouldnt want to troll without one.
  10. A crack shot with the wash down hose helps alot.
  11. Rich i agree, lets not forget the main lesson. Too many equals none. I would not want to be the anti-tanner. The guy they write about who ended the run. The numbers should be conservative at most times.
  12. Do ya think you could get 8 riggers on that bad boy. Id love to see more pics.
  13. Keep the medium lights out for the kings. Much more fun, less switching up.
  14. Very light if any. Fleas come out when water temps rise. July is flea season.
  15. Having the second battery is about piece of mind. It is not a jumper. Install a switch so you can go back and forth and you add life to both batteries. The second battery is money well spent. Imo
  16. Couple shots of jack at 9am on sunday with good coffee and a big a** doughnut.
  17. The thing I love most...The weather and the way, and speed at which it changes. The best example from last season was a saturday in late may. Winds were out of the south east at about 5mph. We launched from ft.niagara an fished from early morning. At about 1:30 the sky in the west turned very dark. The sun was shining and light wind still out of the south, no problem. A 30mph wind hit us from the west. That was the fastest flat to four footers I can remember. Nothing like closing up shop in an instant gale. The best part is the drastic color changes in the water and sky. Its an adventure some days just trying to tell the color changes in the water from the cloud shadows. Visability is a whole other thing. Fishing in say 300' of water, the somerset stack can seem a hundred miles away. Yet Toronto looks like a ten minute ride. Wait an hour and its the opposite. Kings Rock!!!
  18. Yes that too.
  19. He was the deciding vote.
  20. Ex-State senator from ny. Ran on the platform that he would not vote for gay marrage. Then changed partys the week of the vote. Then lost his seat. Long story, voted out. This would be payment for his vote.
  21. No link worked fine. Many articles worth reading. I read a dozen. Thats where i lost the time. Tom just goes to show that once the fishing bug bites, nothing gets in the way. Not your wife, or work, or kids. Not your eyes or hands. I love guys that are hard core. Madden would love this guy.
  22. Par for the circus...course.
  23. Mike at warrior.does a great job. He does like you to buy a dozen. I' ve been very happy with his stuff. We get together in january and place an order. He delivers them to us at the wny sportsman show.no shipping and we dont buy or think about spoons all year. Fingerlakes are very goid as well. Everything else we have used doesnt compare.
  24. This link is a black hole. I just lost four hours of my life. Great winter reading material.
