There are quite a few charters in Seward. I was there last summer, but didn't get to go out. Most boats I saw were in the $250 to $300 range per person for a full day charter. The fishing in Resurrection Bay is pretty phenomenal by all accounts. A lot of fishing is done right in the inlet in the second picture. View or the harbor and bay at Seward from Iron Mt.

New Cannon Downriggers unveiled today at ICAST in Vegas
shadster replied to Billy V's topic in Open Lake Discussion
I hope they pass some of that innovation off to their customer service department and have them answer your questions straight up. Nothing like having a problem and getting answers as if it is the first time they heard of it. Like the pulley deal. Now the worm comes out of the hole? Then to have a guy telling me it was my fault for a broken plug that was nothing more than a plug waiting to break from the start. Please! All of the issues result in a bad rap no matter how minor they may be. I hope they get it right. Oh yea, someone should tell the publicist who wrote the news release that his space bar is a little sticky. -

How about that. All these years they were in denial of the cable jumping problem: I wonder if the new boom end can be used with the old booms??? -
Clarke Thanks for recognizing my efforts with your reply. It was the first time I sat through to the end and thought it would be a good gesture to show the event in pictures and post them here. Mike

Here is a little slide show of the awards ceremony of the 2010 Oswego Pro/Am. Seems like everyone has a "Poker Face" in this game with everyone playing their cards and not tipping their hand. Thus the music, lol! Congratulations to those who placed and better luck next time to those who didn't. It was a tough competition and as they say, "that's fishin'!" Sorry if I didn't get everyone in the show.

Quite a day, for sure! Way to go! Deb's fish looks more like an Atlantic than it does a brown trout.

Spiny Water fleas
shadster replied to ontariofisher's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Thanks ERABBIT. I appreciate the reply. The fleas sure have exploded this year by all accounts. -
It is the crossbow manufacturers themselves who are lobbying the state DEP's for inclusion. It is a money thing like everything else these days. The states are hurting for cash and will sell out to anyone for a fee. They had a survey here where 500 hunters were led to all the right answers in favor of a crossbow season. They are allowed for all of the archery seasons now. Despite a pretty emotional and heated argument on the issue the cross gun makers won out. Go figure.

Cannon Downrigger lifetime warranty not really
shadster replied to poverty stricken II's topic in Open Lake Discussion
One look in the repair shop of what is there waiting to be fixed will give you an idea of what works and what don't. I have had my issues with Johnson Outdoor Products (mother ship of Cannon and MinnKota) on a few occasions. All instances (6) showed good customer service. However, 6 instances is far too many for a couple of items. -

The style of lure catches fish for sure. They are right in line with Hot Shots and Hot n Tots for rainbows. Some like them with rattles, but I find that silence is golden when using these for trout. Not a problem for walleye.

It looks very much like a Storm Wiggle Wart, but what is throwing me is the holes for a rattle or a whistle. I know there were variations of the Wart with different bills, but I never saw any with the holes. The flat part of the bill before turning down is rare, also. Almost all of this type of lure have a bill that runs straight whether it be deep or shallow.

This unit has the adapter that was sold separate so you could put a clamp on motor to it. All instructions, harness and dash switch included. -
danno makes a very good point. If a color combo is working there is no need to put on anything else. The principles of water color and light penetration should be used to find a starting point.

I did a search and came up with this. Some very good advice. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1826&p=9378&hilit=free+slider+cheaters#p9378 Can't help with direction out of Oswego. It can change from day to day.

My deepest sympathy to Vince and his family -
The short answer: YES From the LOC Derby rules 6) Agrees that all persons aboard the same boat (private or charter) must be registered in the Derby, including captain and mate. In the event that there are any persons on board the boat who are not registered (whether they are fishing or not), all fish caught during that particular outing may not be offered or considered for any prizes. A supporting affidavit may be required by all registered contestants aboard the same boat, affirming the integrity of the catch and also that no unregistered person was aboard the boat.

I was heading back to camp after fishing Sunday afternoon and heard a clatter behind me. I saw my license plate and bracket tumbling down the road. I stopped and saw that my LED taillight was hanging there. Tell me how two 1/4" teflonlock nuts on a 3/4 inch stud back themselves out. No doubt in my mind that someone attempted to steal the light. Thieving bastards. Minor compared to what might be happening with the boats up there. I hope they catch the scum.

Thanks for bringing me in off the ledge, Ray! To be honest, at the time I put the fish in the bucket I knew I had a big Atlantic. I had just caught one on Ray's boat the previous Friday at Point Breeze. At the launch in Oswego there was a guy saying it was a brown. Just before there was some controversy on just what identifies an Atlantic here on this website. I took the fish over to Fat Nancy's where Captain Andy Bliss looked at the fish and yep it was an Atlantic. To make sure he looked it up on the computer. Along with where the jaw ends the difference between a brown was the little fin on top between the dorsal and the tail. On a brown trout it always has spots. I thank the CRAA for their efforts to establish these wonderful fish in Lake O. For me it is the fish of a lifetime. If I am ever so fortunate to catch another of this size it will be going back to swim another day.
