I recently acquired a long shaft Yamaha 4 stroke 9.9 to use as a kicker. My dilemma is finding the right bracket to run alongside my 60/45 jet. There is no room on the transom for it. Can anyone recommend a good kicker bracket. that will support the heavy motor that won't break the bank? I was looking at a Garelick 71093 but it is kind of pricey. Is there anything comparable or another way to go?
I included a picture of the transom I need to put it on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm looking at getting a kicker and have two that are a year apart and lightly used. What would be the best choice between 9..9 hp 2005 Johnson electric start or a 2006 Yamaha manual start. My thoughts are that Johnson is no longer making motors and Yamaha seems to be everywhere in my area if service is needed. They/it would be going on a 16 ft Alumacraft. alongside a 60/45 Mercury Jet.
Not the Great Lake O, but the reservoir here at home once again hosts a show by Mother Nature. The stars in this feature are the fishing birds who work diligently to catch their family supper while others rest from their efforts. We no doubt share a common bond with these magnificent fishers. All of us are specialized in our methods as different as they are. . .
A perk of living where I do is the ability to walk our the door and catch some trout. The fishing is always good after a flooding rain. The first signs of clearing water is the time to throw almost anything at them. These fish were all caught within a less than quarter mile stretch. I lost as many as I landed as the feisty little holdover browns and stocked rainbows put on quite a fight. These salmonids are tough to catch in the normal clear flows of the creek. Small streams and fish like these were the sparks that fueled the fire for many.
Ray,......seriously?
There are a lot of good places on the Delaware and I caught fish at many of them. When the fish are running all you need it to be on them no matter where you throw your lines.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like I'll be going with the 7'. Unfortunately, the good fishdoctor does not have any 7 footers. He does have a pair of 9's though if anyone is interested.
Was thinking of making the trip next week and was looking for any reports good, bad, or otherwise. Will be light lining with riggers unless fleas are present. Any problems with those yet? Would it be worth the effort?
