    Time to start dumping a bag of fertilizer every trip into Lake O.....obviously I'm joking...but there is data I have seen which shows markedly declining levels of phosphates in the lake as well as other nutrients.

    Fished Sylvan this morning - 6" of ice out to 28 feet of water. A couple thin areas I came across where spud went through in a whack, but without snow on ice easy to spot those areas. Ran across two such areas - guessing its where water drained down through - 24" x 24" area approx. covered by about an inch of ice...

    I have the same barrier coat and also use VC-17 on my hull - very little growth. When it gets pulled - spray if off with a pressure washer and then just touch up high wear areas in the spring. Simple as that. You should get a couple years in between coats of VC, although you might need to do it the first two years and then every other after that. It looks sharp as it is applied and in the water will change colors after a week or so, but that's normal. Good luck with it - worth every bit of effort to do it right....will save you time and money in the long run.

    I got my son's BT mount back today. Very happy with it. Was his first Lake O fish so we had to put it on the wall. Was done by Rich Benedict of Angling Artisans in Kendall NY. Fiberglass re-creation where he makes a mold of your fish and then pulls a fiberglass blank from the mold and then adds the magic to make it look like its alive. Pics don't really do it justice to be honest.

    Pretty interesting. The one concern I have with the marina improvements is that it all comes at a price. They will have to balance what they are proposing with what the general slip owner is willing to pay....that being said - I would gladly pay more for security and peace of mind.

    For spring fishing shallow sticks off of boards and spoons of boards or riggers is what most run. For sticks you will want a mix of bright sticks for dingy water, and naturals for clear water. Consider the following models: Bayrats Rapala J9s and J11s Rapala F7, F9, F11s Smithwicks Storm Jr. Thundersticks and Regular sized thundersticks Challengers Really any stickbait can produce. As far as spoons go, same deal bright spoons for dingy water (spoons with a white back also work well in dirty water) and naturals for clear water applications. Regular sized stingers, DW Super Slims, Smaller warrior spoons, and others will work. Color choices are endless. Good luck with the spring browns.

    Cable diameter and also the way in which the cable is terminated all contribute significantly to blowback. In a rigger you want a hydrodynamic shape as well as to minimize the total cross sectional area of material that is submerged which includes rigger weight, release, method of termination, and cable itself. John King makes a thinner rigger cable which is nice when fishing deep and isn't too bad with the fleas.

    Mine weren't - I can speak for your boat - but I thought it would be a bigger hassle than it turned out to be when I replaced mine last summer. Good luck.

    Figure out what kind of connector you have on your blades (for example mine are 5mm bayonet) and then just go to any autoparts store and buy a 14" blade with that connector.
