  1. Don't be afraid of speed either - not every day but some days its key - what Whaler says above is a good range but some days they like it fast - 3.0 or even 3.2.
  2. Happy to see life jackets on the kids! "Will we whack this one?"
  3. If this lot is still available I will take it.....
  4. Looks like I missed the price too - hiding there off to the left....didn't see it either...
  5. I think Lurewasher was asking how much $ for the lot - no price listed.
  6. It really isn't hard to spool it up yourself - main thing is you just have to keep a ton of tension between wire and the reel as you are spooling it on - no different than spooling up a mono reel just need more tension applied to the wire as you spool it.
  7. Ignore surface speed that the fishhawk provides - too many variables that can contribute to that not being good data to incorporate into your decision making process. Surface temp, down speed, and down temp that the FishHawk provides are all valuable. Use GPS speed and tie that to your heading to get an understanding of how things are unfolding at the surface.
  8. If you look at it that way then nothing to lose really....probably worth it then if its priced like that and roll the dice on the motor.....
  9. First and foremost - figure out where moisture is getting in and fix that....composite materials are great in that they won't absorb water - but that comes at a price if water is getting in - the composite materials will channel the water elsewhere which may cause problems in areas harder to address.
  10. Probably some risk - not sure I would ever buy a vehicle that was previously a rental. That being said it could have been well maintained - but it also could have been jammed in and out of gear at RPMs - beat on as a rental etc.
  11. Message Brian Garrett on this forum - his User Name is Tall Tails - he can provide a SAMs accredited survey.
  12. The requirement related to random testing is that you are enrolled in a random program if you are an active captain....it's up to you to be enrolled and carry proof of enrollment in a random consortium that meets CFR 46 and 49. From an insurance standpoint you will need a recent survey of your vessel most likely.
  13. They do although docks may not be in.....
  14. I run T4 15W40 in my 454 Crusaders - add a bottle of STP oil Treatment and change every 50 hours. Have run WIX filters and NAPA gold filters. Know a lot of guys who run T4 in their inboards - some guys run it straight, some add a bottle of Lucas Oil treatement, others run STP oil treatment. If you are running flat tappet cams dino oil is recommended - roller followers you are fine running synthetic or synthetic blends. I'm sure others have opinions and will chime in as well.
  15. Best time of the year to land big browns in my opinion is late May into June. Browns are really available all year - late August until they spawn they can get grumpy and in the fall Kings start to invade the brown trout waters; male kings are very territorial (likely pushing browns around) - but any other time of year they are there for the taking.
  16. I would run double keels with anything longer than about a 200 or 250 copper. Single keels definitely lag back and that increases your likelihood of your coppers finding your wires...especially considering the currents we have on the eastern end of the lake. The newer stainless keels are about the same weight as the older keels with the half weight - thus why they probably eliminated the half weight.
  17. I shouldn't do it but I can't help myself.....I'll take them Greg - Bobby has some patterns for BTs he wants me to paint....If still avail I can swing by after work and pick them up some night - text me and let me know what works for you....
  18. Another thought I had - it might be useful to post the events you plan to fish this season - that might help lure some folks in or maybe someone can join you for a few events but not all. Instead of taking the blanket approach it's possible a direct approach by putting a post up and say "looking for two guys to fish the Fair Haven Challenge on this date" etc. might help. Also consider putting the same post up on some of the FaceBook groups as well...Facebook is an active medium - it will put your post in front of people who belong to that page - forums like this one are passive - the person needs to find this thread.
  19. Bump for Price drop - just knocked $50 off - down to $425 for everything - retail probably north of $1200 if bought separately.
  20. Thanks for the offer - Trying to sell as a lot - If I break it up maybe we can talk....
  21. Entire lot of tackle everything in the pics is nearly new - some brand new with most of it never having seen water - $425 shipped to your door - lower 48 states only. With attractors pushing $20 each and new spoons at $7-10 each - this is a good deal for someone starting out who wants to put some decent tackle in the boat without breaking the bank. Good hooks on all lures and attractors all have hardware on them as well (snaps/swivels etc) - no misfit toys here. 22. Early spring on the finger lakes - set up exactly like you would on lake ontario if looking for rainbows, lakers, and browns - the only difference is on the finger lakes you don't need to be right up on shore - 100 yards out from shore you might be in 50 feet of water - don't worry too much about the amount of water you are over - flatlines, short cores with small spoon and stickbaikts will take fish in the spring on the fingers as well.
  23. Great show! Thank you to all who put time in to organize this event. Thanks again for letting us spend a little time talking about Brown Trout as well!
