  1. My thoughts on why the chinooks work better than say a #0 Dipsey in the same application....the Chinooks have far less mass per unit area than traditional dipsey and I think that contributes to them being more affected by turbulence around the hull more than a traditional #0 dipsey - this likely causes a lot of movement with the chinooks that may not be as prevalent in the smaller size dipseys and my guess is that movement at a given trolling speed translates to more erractic behavior at the spoon which might lead to more bites - just a hunch but in my experience the chinook on the side of my running motor (I have twin inboards) takes more fish typically than the other side. Same situation with slides when fishing shallow - the more turbulent side often is a better rod for me as a general observation.
  2. You don't need to use a fish hawk TD trolling in 12-15 feet of water nor would I recommend it. If you are set 5 feet down fish on the bottom will move vertically that distance to hit an offering - no need to complicate it.
  3. Right now the water temps are nearly homogenous - you can absolutely fish a diver for lakers and you don't need to be tight to the bottom either....fish the marks - a lot of times this time of year lakers could be anywhere although a lot of guys will target them with cowbells near bottom and that certainly is productive. Flasher with a fly can be a great option for lakers as mentioned above. Double white glow e-chip or spin doc and an A-Tom-Mik ultra white glow fly with chartruese beads is a good place to start.

Looking to get $150 for the gallon - currently going for Approx. $250 per gallon plus a hazardous shipping surcharge. Can also make me an offer - most I can say is No. Local pickup in Baldwinsville NY or can deliver to Oswego or Sodus Point on weekend. Interlux Micron CSC Antifouling Bottom Paint - Gallon | Defender Marine Thanks
  5. About 500,000 feet
  6. I gorilla glued one of mine after it got stepped on - broke in half. Have been running it in that state for the better part of 5 seasons now....
  7. I have heard of folks diluting ATF 10% with diesel fuel for use as a fluid used in marine applications. I don't remember where I read that but I know I didn't make it up - seemed to be a pretty common practice on the forum that I read it on from what I recall....
  8. Sterling Custom Canvas in Fair Haven does nice work as well and is working to expand his business. He might be able to help you out as well. Can't go wrong with John Mann either. Have used both of those guys for various things.
  9. $300 for a 600LC with a bunch of rash - man. I have four new in box of the old style 600LCs - maybe I should let them go!
  10. I will probably buy a couple of raffle tickets from myself again
  11. Thanks - just sent payment
  12. Message sent
  13. Ice is good - as of last weekend ice was 9-11" everywhere I drilled. Some bare spots with some small crusted over drifts and hard pack. Kind of a rough ride but a little more snow on the lake now should have smoothed things out.
  14. Canandaigua Lake has some of the biggest pickeral around - north or south ends
  15. Couple good ones in there Jay....
  16. Turns with 2 divers on a side - more gradual than you think you need to turn...those inside divers will get wadded up if you turn too tight - otherwise nothing to add to the conversation that hasn't already been brought up...
  17. Some baits we tune, some we run them right out of the box. I don't run a ton of stickbaits for browns except early in the season for the first few weeks (my boat goes is usually 2nd or 3rd week in April). Usually by 3rd week in May my stickbaits go away but if you get cold water moving back in I will bring them back out. Smithwicks we remove the front hook - I also replace the stock hooks and split rings because the ones of the box are prone to failure. 3 hooks on a stickbait will turn your brown trout into a giant spinner more times than not. Rapalas as mentioned I don't touch, also love running Dave's Kabooms but they sometimes need to be tuned a little. Again hooks get replaced on these - rings are ok. Stingers, DW superslims, and NK Dimple-lites (if you can still find any) will all take piles of BTs right out of the box. Flutter spoons often need to be tuned for speeds you are running.
  18. Hop on someone's boat who uses it - it's really not that hard and I guarantee you will catch 5x the kings on wire as you will on mono.....you just need to be consistent with it and purposeful in your handling of it.
  19. Agree - got Tarnoski written all over it!
  20. One of Bobby's fav's in the pile....
  21. It might be there but in the past there have been various channels of communication which all lead to "getting the word out" - between work and personal e-mails I am probably anywhere from 300-600 e-mails per day on average - almost impossible to keep up some days and I do miss things - just nice to have other forms of communication to ensure no one falls through the cracks who is interested in attending.
  22. Sorry missed that in Rick's initial post....
