As a twist to your post about sellers I had a drift boat for sale here, left my phone # to call, had a public post that said PM sent and was bombarded by PM's from more than 1 buyer offering to buy it at a higher price. I always give the 1st guy that contacts me the right of 1st refusal, no matter how the contact was.

Anyone else go for the Okuma Coldwater Linecounter?
sszoldra replied to MarkNY's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Last year I bought a couple Okuma Clarion's and liked them. I'm thinking of buying 2 of these to use for dipsy's. The price is better than the Clarion's and a step up from the Convector, as far as looks go anyway. I'll be looking at them at the Okuma booth at the show this weekend. -
I have both forward controls and a trollmaster hooked up to my 9.9 4 stroke Honda. I like the convenience of having them both available. I have an extra set of controls available for your motor if you're looking for a set.

I snowmobile across Piseco and have always seen alot of shanties out during the winter , but I've never fished it. Most of the shanties have sleds parked next to them, so I'm assuming it's quite the haul to get out .

WTB: 150 Qt. Cooler

I bought my igloo at K-Mart for around $50 -
I use penn reels also and the quality of the new ones is really cheap to say the least. If you can find some older ones you'd be better off.
-
The drags and all are really good. They were made when Penn was a quality reel. I also have 2 209LC line counters and there's no comparison between the two. It's like they were made by 2 different companies.
-
Just a suggestion but I use a Penn 210's. They don't make them anymore, but they're still available off e-bay. Plenty of room for lead and backer.

After trolling inshore off the Nuke Plant yesterday and getting only 1 brown, I decided to go out deep. At the 160" mark I looked out and saw probably the biggest duck diving the Lake I ever saw, and mentioned to my buddy to check this out, look at the size of that duck's a** !! I thought for sure it was going to take off but after getting near it, it turned out to be a Button Buck swimming for Canada. I wasn't about to let this thing drown so we got it turned around and were behind it about 75 ft so not to spook it, just enough to let him know we were there and going to the side every time he wanted to turn, keeping him straight. It was like a roundup! YEEE DOGGIE!! After about an hour and a half we finally got it to the plant bouy line. Fortunately it was a slow day, and there were no boats in the area, I can't imagine what some Captain would have to say to his clients seeing this go on. Maybe something like " Here on Lake Ontario we have a wonderful fishery, and oh yes the hunting's good too the farther out you go" The guard at the gate was notified of what we were up to by a friend that lived nearby and had called the plant's animal control, and we got permission to go past the bouy's but only by 25 yards, so we turned back out to watch and make sure he made it. It seemed to speed up as he got closer to shore and we watched 5 big splashes when the feet hit solid ground and a tail go up as he went for the trees to the right of the stack. Then we headed back out to all the marks we plotted pushing him in, you'd be surprised what you find when the rods are out of the water, but no luck was to be had there. All together a good day, 1 brown in the boat, 1 deer herded to shore. A happy deer, and a happier me.

I love my Willie.

I have a 9.9 Honda with power tilt/e-start connected in tandem with my main 90 Honda. I have 2 sets of controls (1 behind the other) mounted and a rod tying the 2 together for steering. There was another post here about the same thing so I have pics of my setup. The only thing wrong with this setup is you have to disconnect the fuel line on the main motor before tilting because if the motor swings to the left while connected you will smash the quick disconnect. Hope this helps.

Salmonite, I have a Willie Raptor, similar to the Hewescraft. I'm always around Oswego to Port Ontario. Here's a pic of it when they built it for me. -

I have a Strikemaster Lite 4-stroke, and except for a transmission problem that was quickly repaired by Strikemaster under warranty I love it. I too am up in years, and the weight was a big factor, but not smelling stinky 2-stroke fumes is probably the best thing about it. It has a quiet, reliable, easy to start Subaru motor. The only thing that I would do (and am planning on doing) is I would replace the lazer auger with a chipper auger that Strikemaster sells thru their website, as the lazer auger is really agressive and has a tendency to grab when breaking thru the bottom.
