No One Would Go Fishing, So I Went Alone - PICS
711skwerlz replied to redeyes's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Great fish awesome LL's. Thanks for the pics. What were they hitting on? how deep? Gotta straighten out the paperwork on my boat and trailer hopefully get out soon. -
That's what I have on my boat ( used to be justin's) I found that the ducer was getting thrown of by the contour of the boat. I lowered it about 1.5 inches from where he had it now it works great. I do get a little rooster tail off it though. Look for any lips or rivets any thing like that i front of it they distort the signal. Not sure why it only does it when your deep. Mine would cut out in anything from 10ft to 300ft. Hope this helps. I really like my hummer.

Just curious what did you end up using? How did it turn out?
-
What color dipsy? I run nothing but black. You can run them off the ball too, 6ft back. Does anyone run cheaters with these. always worried it would get wraped up in the spinny. Try green spinny and fly. just a secret

This is a sad situation. We all need to do what we can to stop it. They will force us off the water and out of the woods if they have a choice. Another reason for New York to be divided into two states. Downstate can keep paterson. Chowder should run for upstate govenor. Is it time for a new revolution? sTART AS SOON AS YOU CAN. March -May They tend to stick to structure so look for jagged bottoms, docks, sunken cover, or ledges. The hot bite for me is always early, launch at sunup fish ti'll 10 or so. You'll most likley pick LL along the way but, don't get discouraged there out there. If I could say only one thing light line and long leaders.

Sounds good! Same rules as last year?

Thanks a lot guys! This will save some arguments on the boat. -
Whoa, Easy there buddy. I'm only 24, were the next gen of trollers just a joke. If they let me in they'll let anybody. I didn't know a dipsy from a planner board when i joined. One year later I own a boat and all my own stuff.

If we keep letting all these young kids in here its gonna be nothing but newbies. lol Welcome aboard! I've learned everything I know on this site. It took me about 10 minutes. It truly is a great group of guys. See Ya on the lake

The info is probably here somewhere. I'm trying to come up with a chart for perferred Water temperatures for each species. Any suggestions would be great we can add them all up and compare what we think we know. Thanks.

Browns from finger tribs 12-09
711skwerlz replied to water gremlin's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
Yeah thats Billy bob's. We fishout Watkins Glen Most of the time. That is the winning Brown from the derby. I was told to watch the creek durring gun season and look for a good rain. We never got the rain and I quit looking around the 1st week of dec. Thought I had missed'em all together. Can't give up I'll get'em next year. What were they hitting? Is catherine the only trib they run off seneca? -
Who's we? Who says i'm fishing with you this year Justin. I got my own boat now. lol That 16 footer was good to us last year. Don't have a plan for the derby yet. Why do you want to tell everyone the good spots. Might as well tell them what we caught the browns on. Thanks for the great deal on a boat. "Time Well Wasted"

Very nice fish. I kept looking all through deer season but thought I had missed them. I've heard about the fall run but have missed it for a couple years now. when were they in? If you don't mind, where? I live near watkins glen and drive down 14 almost every day. Thanks for the pics!! -
Cayuga Lake Trout League 2010 season
711skwerlz replied to Lil Jake's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
I would be interested too but don't know about every week end. Gotta finish building the house. If fish every week end or the wife will take the boat and the house in the "big D". Don't like limited to cayuga either seneca is my 1st home. just my two cents and bumping this back up. Great idea though. -
I believe rifles have the ability to make clean kills with smaller shot windows. With that said take the range factor out. My .30-.30 will shoot 1 inch groups at 60yds. This is better than the average shotgun in the woods. Most accidents are not caused by one well placed shot, they are caused by shots 3, 4, and 5 at a running animal. Any weapon we use has the potential to kill anything it hits. The weapons don't need management the people do. Maybe we should eliminate drives or limit hunting to single shots (rifles and shotguns) and see how many shotgun"hunters" complain then. I'm willing to bet most people who fight rifles have never shot one or killed a deer with one. They would rather track a gutshot deer 4 miles from a drive than respect the animal and sit and wait for the safely planned out, one shot humane kill. This I think is an ethics issue not a safety issue. If you want that side of the story and look at balistics of ricochets and errant bullets (which shouldn't exist) rifles are no worse than anything we use now. Justin knows my point of view on this topic, we have debated this time and time again. Honestly even now that we can use rifles I don't have anywhere to hunt where its necesarry to break out my .270WSM. This is just my opinion but I feel very strongly about it. If you do plan on using a rifle this season at least ok it with the landowner they should have the last word on it. This is just the short version. If you want more ask.

I used a 5/4 x 5 1/2 composite deck board. My span is only 6ft. It was about the same cost of pressure treated + stain+ clearcoat. Never worry about rot or warp. Just bolt your riggers trough. I have two riggers and 5 rod holders on mine. A 10ft board was $20 at lowes theyv'e got a couple different colors. If your going too much longer I would use something heavier (thicker) or support the middle. The plastic is pretty easy to work with don't be intimidated by something new.

Last time I saw that pic it was from Bradford, NY Thats a small town that i'm pretty familiar with. I highly doubt the pic is not legit. But, I do believe there are big cats in that area.
