  1. Keep them cold an dry. We caught a 33.9lb king on a trip to Mexico. Wrapped in a towel and garbage bags packed on ice it looked fresh 3 days later at my taxidermist. [ Post made via Android ]
  2. If you use a patch be sure to "wet install" the patch and rivets. Coat the two surfaces before putting them together and dip each rivet before installing. This will prevent any corrosion or vibration in the patch. Definitely stop drill the crack. Welding would be easier though.
  3. I hope you made the beer run before you put that on your truck.
  4. Only if passed! It would start Oct 1, 2012. This is per info from Dec fisheries included in the diary program. It is still a proposal. [ Post made via Android ]
  5. They will hit all day but early is definitely better. I've taken a few nice ones deep on flasher fly. [ Post made via Android ]
  6. My wife's grandfather use to take all the suckers and small carp we could get. Most of the time it was ground into a sausage. Actually pretty good, a sweet meat with little fat or grease. As patties or meatballs. [ Post made via Android ]
  7. I run a 16 and have a blast. Check my post from last July and August. Took a money Brown and kings to 28 lbs and a steelhead that made the board and got knocked off. Never went deeper than 250. [ Post made via Android ]
  8. I appreciate everyone's input. Although I was looking for info on just the .223 I do have other options for him including 2 20 ga shotguns and a .243. Thanks everyone for your opinions, keep it coming. [ Post made via Android ]
  9. I've done some research on this and know it will start an argument and there are better choices. I'm just looking for some of your opinions. My littlest brother will be old enough to gun hunt soon and really likes the .223. Bullet style and size will be a factor all shots will be under 150 yds most being under 80yds. Any suggestions or experience with this would be great. I do handload so custom ammo is an option.
  10. I bought a Taurus Raging Bull in .44 Mag this year. Deer hunting is a whole new sport now. killed a button buck with it at 35 yds. Made my own fiber optic front sight and put around 300 rds through it this summer. It was also my first deer with my own handload 200gr XTP, looked like I hit'em with a 20ga . Congrats on your deer.
  11. Not the first complaint from chemung county. Thank God I live in schuyler. Took three weeks to get mine. that was 6 years ago
  12. Glad you found'em. I passed you coming in when you left fri AM. I could have used your help. Marked very few and took one shot for 3hrs fishing.
  13. hornady V-Max They give you violent expansion wich equals less penetration. DRT every time. most .243 are gonna exit on a yote though, stay small. They offer the v-max down to 58 gr. for .243. I perfer my .223 or .22-250. Good luck.

  22. The problem in NY is that we shoot alot of deer like this.... Only they are 1 1/2 years old when we do it. I'm very picky on the bucks I take. On the other hand I'll take every doe that comes by. I'd like to see NY do a point restriction. Let'em Go Let'em Grow!! Congrats on some awesome pics. Good luck finding that monster in the daylight. Steuben county is known for Some great landowners sticking to some great QDM and seeing results.
