Is this the same one billy? http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/ ... t104586480 I probably wouldn't go thru hull, but I heard they have a "mudflap" type part to dampen the rooster.

If yours is the same as mine it has the dual beam ducer. set on the 60 degree It is going to look more cluttered as it is covering much more area. width at bottom is equal to your depth. use that to find bait and fish pockets. then set to 20 degree to hone in on them. I set my sensitivity just hard enough to erase the "noise" or weeds, mud, particles. But I fish Fingerlakes so I need to find 2lb fish These are just my preference. If you dont play with it too much you'll learn how to read anything as long as it is mounted correctly. Good Luck

I liked your 788 LB88 but im not interested in the down or side imaging options. they can add alot of money and in my opinion aren't much help doing what we do. Justin had a problem with the one I have now. After i bought the boat I changed the ducer And moved it. Now I get a rooster tail off it but has never cut out on me. Humminbirds website claims The 597 ci HD has 4,000 watts peak to peak and 500 RMS. Not sure what maps are compatible.

Looking for a new Fishfinder or combo unit. I'm currently running a Hbird 565 and a handheld GPS. Has anyone tried the 597. Looking for a mid range(price) combo unit, color screen. This unit is on sale at cabelas right now for $499. Any suggestions?

Wow that got pretty intense there for a while. I'd hate to see this site go down over a perch question. I learn alot from this site and people on it. I do my best to participate on things I do know. I have even gone as far as posting thank you's. This site is like many things in life you only get back what you put in. I see unknown people ask ?s and the answers are short. Where the more common names always get a full complete answer. It has been great meeting so many people online and face to face. Again thank you to those who do participate and I hope this turns out to be another great year. And to think I almost didn't read this post about perch.

I use the same line as my leader. 8-10 lb (finger lakes) and 20lb (ontario) flouro 6-8 ft long swivel it the same as Broad horizons. I perfer the free slider over fixing them mainly because i get too many shakers here on the fingerlakes.

Made my first outing of the year. I knew it would be a short trip with the cold weather and the wife along for the ride. Launched a little later than i wanted around 7:30. fished till 9:30. Boat ran great. had a rigger that was froze up at first and forgot a rigger rod. Replaced that rod with a lead core which pulled the majority of our fish. 6LL 15"-19" and 2 Browns 20"-22" all went back to fight another day. Great shakedown trip can't wait for a little better weather.

village launch is open. The canal launch is froze over and even if it was open the parking lot was plowed up blocking the launch.

I run torpedos with no problems after the same issues with the fish. I found blacks made the fish worse. The extra tension from the line in a release on the tail actually helped to straighten them out. Others have told me the action helps.

aww cheer up little buddy there's plenty of them in there as long as those cayuga boys stay on there own lake. We had a geat year met a lot of great people. But this ice fishing isn't feeding the addiction any more. Can't wait to get out there. Still havn't seen that beast youll be riding this year.

Its not just us bow hunters. I have seen quite a few wounded by gun hunters also. I lost a doe this year with what looked like a great shot. Watched her stand in one spot for 45 min before she walked away. No blood at all. The rain didn't help. I have the shot on video and reviewed it several tmes. Tracked her the next day to no prevail. I hate the wait and not knowing the outcome, but my brother lost a buck last year with a 20ga.

Awesome trip! Wanted to thank you again for helping us out. -
I'll be launching at watkins glen (clute park). With a newbie. no pressure here. I think i've put up a decent fight for being the only one on the team to make all the dates. We seem to have fallen apart the second half. A few of us sold boats. One guy had major boat problems early. I may fish off a little tin bobber but she is reliable. I was on cayuga the 14th but landed only two small LL and pulled out by 9:00am it was crazy.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):9/2 9/3 Time on Water:5-8pm 7-10am Weather/Temp: mostly cloudy Wind Speed/Direction:calm 10kts Waves: calm RRRUUUNNN Surface Temp: Location:mexico bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 0/0 1/3 Total Boated:1 Species Breakdown:KING Hot Lure: white spinny green dots/fruity frostcicles Trolling Speed: 2.4-2.8 Down Speed: IDK Boat Depth: 85ft Lure Depth: 78ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== I had told my buddies I wanted to break the 20lb mark as my biggest king to this point was 17lb. Left wrok thurs morning planning on fishing 5 days. Just as we starting to get it the chop picked up. It don't take much in my 16ft tin bobber. My wife landed the only fish of the trip. This monster had us going. The rigger pops and rod started screaming. "Thats a good fish" I yelled as a pulled the rod from the holder and handed it off. I had no idea what to do next. the line counter went fron 80 to near 600 ft. The wife asked how much line was on the reel. "Not enough" was my reply By now i was pulling the 2nd dipsy in. I checked her drag and it was as tight as i wanted on the 20lb test. I slowed the boat and cleared the other rigger line. We decided to try an circle around him. That was almost a bad idea. As the wife was picking up line as fast as she could and the fish ended up in front of us. After cat and mouse games for a few minutes he got him behind the boat. Where he made 5 or 6 more short runs. I barely fit the 33lb 9oz KING in the net. at which point my wife started screaming loud enough the other boats were talking about her on the radio. It seemed like forever even though it was only a few minutes. I bet the other guys got a good laugh at watching us. We will never forget it as the fish is at the taxidermist now. I want to thank everyone on this site for thier aid in my new addiction. Jason hats off to you for telling us where they were and what to pick 'em on.

I was hoping you would lose my number soon!! PM sent -
love the quick spins use my own bohning jig to fletch them. last year i shot 4 blade muzzys and group them in 5in at 50yds with a 10mph wind. No i don't shoot deer that far. I don't care for any of the shrink fletch. just my opinion. If you do use them dont over shrink them. It will wave your fletch especially the 4". If you do wave them a hair dryer can help. Be consistant on placement. I f you want them 1" from the nock then get them all 1" from the nock. Good luck!

Should have used a 45acp. This guy lived now he'll get sued. Any one know specifics on nys state laws in a case like this.

I think he was just wondering what we thought it was worth. This turned into a rant about craigs list. thanks for the info but a little off topic. -
Thanks Nick for a great day. I needed that after that blow off on cayuga sat.

I've caught a few of those nice LL's. 6&7 lb none as big as nicks. Not all will run to the surface especially those that are hooked deep. Those slabs have a headshake that is pretty wicked. I don't run snubbers and the big ones I pick come on wire. I just run lighter rods (med action) Watch that rod bounce. WOW
