  1. Wonderful walleye there fbg14619 ! Nniiiicce!! Don't think the weedkiller got to that one. And thank goodness for the various efforts to control weeds there down through the years. A while back, one could barely ROW a boat there, much less swim or troll for eyes. Wish the smallies were as hot and heavy there as they were before. But that lake (which... ?) has good numbers and sizes of various warmwater species; and nice big panfish, particularly sunfish family members. Again....beautiful walleye and nice report.....and nice net job, daughter of fbg14619 !
  2. U are so right about the bass after dark with the walleyes. Same is kind of true over at Honeoye.....Nice report !
  3. At Honeoye your best bet in midsummer might be trolling in and around the central portions of the lake down about 25ft. (near the bottom). Also the night bite close to shore; I mean casting from the shore back to the boat, working the shoreline while moving slowly. I like floating sticks like gold or silver rapalas (I really like the flatraps as they cast well....original floaters will work to). With the weeds either method might be a challenge, but with the sundown thru evening close to shore with floating sticks, u can pick them up working the bait slowly. Think bass. Chances are they (bass) will be more of a challenge as far as what gets to your bait than the weeds!.....win-win....
  4. ....in Nuangola Pa. Spent some time looking it up. Seems I've been by there many times going down 81 to Allen- Beth and Philly area. Never knew it was there. Seems like those bogs and their ponds are naturally "poor" in nutrients due to low ph levels. Things like carnivorous plants like it there. They have to get nutrients from bugs. Maybe thats why that pig bass looked like it had a big head in relation to it's body (like me !). Do other bass or other fish in that area show the same thing....or am I reading too much into the pic? Also noted that town is where Kirk Douglas cut some of his acting teeth, at the Grove Theatre. Boy the things one gets into when bored......
  5. Niiiiicce!...... And a white bass to boot! Glad U included him in the pics....
  6. Niiiiccce..!! Way to spend the 4th! ...Looks a little thin. like maybe it should be about 8lb. I'll bet it was just hungry and saw a good meal that could not be refused. Just kidding. I'm envious! Nice fish. From under a dock with jig or minnow/swimbait. Or will u make it even more outrageous and say a topwater presentation, which can often bring up big girls in the middle of summer?
  7. Try the ore beds at Casey park off rt 104 in town of Ontario. About a mile north up Knikerbocker rd. Great for largemouths from shore or a small boat of some sort (motorless). I've almost always fished it from shore. Use Rapalas or my fav unweighted plastic worms fished slow. Seen and caught some very decent fish there for years. Also good bullhead in spring. Weed situations vary somewhat year to year, but I have never been skunked. Also try the canal if u have a boat. Smallies and largemouths (plus pike, 'eyes, crappie and various sunfish and occasionally other species) can be found along cement walls at landings and anywhere a creek moves into the flow (which can b found with a little sleuthing with maps (google). Mendon Ponds park has at least 3 and up to 5 fishable bodies of water. Some have some access from shore, but it's kind of a tease, as u will always wish to get into a boat "just over there". Especially nice with flyrod poppers in the pads. Also try North Ponds off 104 in Webster for largies. These places are no big secrets to bass folks in the region, and always some good relaxed and often exciting hours of good fishing can be had, without hassles.....
  8. Thanks for the rundown. That last shot of the presumably through-the-ice 'eyes is sweet. Maybe, now, I WILL load up and head there, during the winter for those guys' big brothers.....!
  9. Where have you tried and where can you get to? Lots of places, including flowages. Where might you want to try....?
  10. You're a legend! ......and keep 'em comin'. BTW, any luck with the muskies yet....?
  11. ZZ Top!!! Way to be resourceful...... .....about the fish and the shot!
  12. Bassin' is always fun in "the Larry"! Smallies and largemouths are pretty much everywhere, from the depths to the island shoals.Only have had difficulty finding something after coldfronts in the fall, and I'm sure a few techniques from the Lindners would help there if employed. Nice work....
  13. Wow that's some sweet stuff.....And ditto with the replies! A good report on a very special outing.....
  14. Sorry..... I failed to note "somwhere in north Ontario". Still a nice fish....!
  15. Beauteous fish! .......Come from finger lake waters (b really nice to know what water....)? Don't worry.... not gonna load up and go there and try to catch it's big brother...Heh heh! Nice pike and esocidae are all around. Just a nice (maybe 10-15lb) specimen to b proud of! ......unless your son is REALLY TALL!
  16. Beautiful baby! And good eats for sure!
  17. Nniiiiiicce! A 3lb smallie anywhere is sweet. In a flowage is awesome. If you r from Addison, maybe the Canisteo. But background looks like bigger water, like Chemung or Tioga......Care to divulge which...if any of those?
  18. Sssswwwweeeeeet!!! And thanks for the pm reply. Just started new job and the flu at the same time last week so was not able to monitor emails as usual. Thanks for showing different search methods. Must find time to "explore" new LOU features. So far, so good! BTW, I know the expected new one will be better even than the updated LOU as it took way longer to work on that than one year! Congratulations on all efforts!
  19. Excellent!!!
  20. The early worm catches the fish....... .....NNnniiiiiice!!
  21. Chad, how are the new web site developments going?
  22. Luv to see those people with some un-motorized augers.......more cold and ice, please..... ......
  23. Good increases in trout/salmon #s. Really good to see continuous improvement in laker and Atlantic #s....let's hope we and Mother Nature can keep on this course of improvements.
  24. Sk8man..... Les, very very good story of how it can all become very tragic very quickly. And unexpectedly so. The buoyant Ice Armor suit buy was nothing if anything, luckily prophetic. Thanx for relating your experience .
  25. Gailey is gone.....Watch them sign Reid...(oh boy)...go Bills....They really need to sign Belichick, or someone of Levy's or a like mental and emotional stature....good luck and find that person! Go get em Bills....
