  1. Thanks 4 the links! And the tips..
  2. Out of the north end of Seneca is where we usually go, and the fishing for lakers seems always good, and not always the "hole" (actually more of a box canyon). Have brought up some beautiful BIG lakers there jigging. I'm hoping for a 20lber there still fishing !!
  3. Beeeeautiful!! And the perfect weight!! Give her all the fisherfolks's luv... !!!
  4. That's the madness you fish the kings for!!! And U were fortunate enough to land him! ....R U entered in the derby?
  5. Got the same feeling as everyone else on this post...Awesome!!!! And super idea with the Boga-on-the-rope trick. Thank U for sharing and and Jeremy Sage for coming up with this "multi-tasking", fish AND time saving tip. (and back saving, too!)
  6. Nice work on the videos.... Got some real insight on how those guys approach the offerings. Now, to get videos on a HOT bite of salmonid fishing....
  7. Geeez. Ouch! All in a days "work" I'd say though . Say, did U indeed land that big female? Certainly hope so.....
  8. Wonderful experience...!! Especially the Orcas and Halibut. That lady coming in on the zipline, though was, well, WOW!! I like the Homer Simpson "Douw!" cry on the second video as she does, indeed, slam into the tree ! I trust U have some nice Halibut steaks in the freezer at home to remind you of things....Very Niicce!
  9. Good stuff! Mahogany.... Have some laying around in the wood pile in the garage. I wonder if it would make a good casting lure? Placed in a tourney with your own lures...Excellent!!!
  10. What tcon said is true...that is Deep Pond... nice northerns and some decent crappie and really nice 'gills in there, too. Same is true with the little pond around the corner on Douglas Rd as well as the main (Hundred Acre Pond) lake. Hitting the pads with fly rod poppers or sponge bugs works great on the bass and gills, especially in the middle of the day on hot summer afternoons!
  11. Hey. that matches the 6.5lbr I caught at Honeoye back around 1983 at the northern end of the lake right off of the bathing beach there. Caught it with a simple 1/8 oz. jig head and Mr. Twister black 3in. grub body.... the same lure nailed many nice smallies around the docks and shallows of the north end...and an occasional largemouth. The bigger bass and more numerous smallies (very healthy) were mixed in, with an occasional 'eye thrown in. The fishing at Honeoye really got better after sewer lines were put around the lake sometime in the 70's I believe. Before that the lake was so weed choked one could barely row a rowboat, which could be had at the old California Pt bait shop. I guess leach lines leaking just made the place to fertile for weed growth..... Wonder what the fishing was like before housing was put in around the lake. Heard tell of brown trout having been placed in there in years back (as per a "fish available in the lake" pamphlet available at Cali Pt)....There are bigger bass in there, with a few very large 'eyes as well.
  12. I've used bucktails with grub bodies added, jigheads with swimbait bodies, tube bodies, various combos of these.....Even some wacky concoction of jig with spoon and spinner topped off with pork rind (fly strip)! Just get whatever down there. 1/2 to 1oz in weight to get it down to the depths (75 to 150 ft or more down). Some days the same jigging lure I was using to get beautiful smallmouths in 5 to 15 fow caught me jack perch in 40 fow and lakers in 100+ fow. This happened in Seneca, but I see no reason it could not happen in any of the fingers that had cold and warmwater species. Pike, too! And like zackblain said, some no stretch stuff works real good at feeling the pickups in deep water. If it is dead, mirror out there (not too often for that), even a regular stretchy mono can work, though, if U R not equipped with floro or braid. I would use a leader of some kind though. Get it down there and work the marks. Sonar does really help....
  13. Nice fish.... of course! Depending on the size of the fellow holding the bass, and assuming that he is a little taller than average, I'd guess a little over 5lbs......
  14. One word for this post....Excellent!!!
  15. Best to go when it's calm...makes it a lot easier. Drop jigs to the bottom where U see marks and work them up, down and up from the bottom. That is the easiest way. When they R hitting (guess that IS the trick), it can be as easy as catching sunnies at the dock...Any more is just a fine tuning and tweaking of that process. Of course suitable equipment is required, particularly line type (a no-stretch product is best). Others can offer more tips and tactics, but this basic approach has worked fairly well...Remember it is deep water fishing and some of the lakers can easily surpass 10lbs. Brings laker fishing to whole new heights of appreciation with their fight....(much more fun that trolling them up)!
  16. Yes, what skipper19 says is so true... With these guys U must have all your components on key so that good luck CAN happen!! May the weight be enough for some cash bonus (more good luck!)

  18. What is this "SBH fish cleaning" subject? q
  19. More great shots ! And, yes, your Redsox cap does seem to loosen up a few screws out there....
  20. That's excellent!!! And jigging up big lakers will make a fisherperson out of any "unbeliever"!
  21. Thanks... It's great to hear good news about the smallmouth fishing in the lake.....
  22. Ho ho hooo! Ha ha haaa ! Great fish! No matter what kind... I hope it tastes good, too.
  23. Wow. Glad 2 see u guys had a great time on her birthday! Reminds me of past birthday parties. Celebrated (surprised!) my 30th on Hemlock.... And other folks' on other fingers, too.
  24. U sure that is not a giant, world record, crazily pollution affected, digitally faked, yellow perch? I mean, with the vertical bars and all it looks more like a perch than an 'eye! Are they all patterned like that in that region? I've fished the Islands many times but never caught a walleye (or a musky) there. Great fish....Niiiicee!!
