I have 2 shimano 800s & 1 shimano 700. I use these for my copper setups. However, the drags are sticky, one click on the drag they go from tight to loose. I was going to replace the washers with carbon fiber drag washers. Has anyone done the same? If so, was there vast improvement. I have a bunch of tekota 500&600s and don't have a single issue with the drags.
Thanks

Does it track the downrigger balls well? I know it has a narrow beam On my old boat I had a B744v thru hull with a fairing block on my lowrance lcx15mt. It did a pretty good job tracking the balls. I plan on mounting the b164 about 5 ft from the stern on a 30 ft boat. I tossed around the idea of the fairing bock b 258 transducer, but I don't want the drag.
Thanks
Al
Thanks for the replys
Excellent video. It doesn't seem hard to install. I was thinking about going with a b258 with a fairing block at first. However, I'm thinking there might be a lot of drag Also it seems like a PIA to install ypurself. I think the b164 looks like the ticket. My boat has a 21 degree deadrise so the 20 degree element should be fine
I am getting a Lowrance HDS10 and was thinking about using a thruhull transducer. Does anyone use the airman b164? If so what are your thoughts and advice with this transducer

Trigger pulled!!!
Put cash down on a 10 yr old Amberjack. Used only in fresh water. Twin 5.7l engines. Less than 190 hrs on it! Just need the survey to come back ok and we are good to go. The wife loves the cabin. It sleeps 6. Microwave, stove, refirg, head shower etc..... New canvas, interior is immaculate.
just need to add fish blood
Al
Thanks.
I took a look at one this past weekend. The wife likes the cabin /shower/head/bed etc. Seems like I would be able to set it up for fishing. Now its time to find one and pull the trigger!!

I have an older Thompson 210. I am looking to upgrade. My wife fishes with me 90% of the time so she is interseted in a boat with a nice cabin/galley/shower etc. So I am trying to find something the works for her and me(fishing). We want to buy something in the 28-30ft range no older than 10-12 years old. I have a ton of fishing equipment to outfit the new boat!!!!! I have more poles/reels than know what to do with !!!!!!!! Ithought the amberjack might be a good compromise for the two of us.
I have been looking at a 2002 Sea Ray Amberjack 290. I was wondering if anyone is running one of these on the lake for salmon fishing. I am curious how they have it set up with riggers etc.... Also, what their overall thought/experiences are.
Thanks
Al
