Know your pain Bub, last year fishing Orleans Pro Am we broke a cable and of course it was the one that had the Cannon Intella Troll Probe, Ball, Release and Stacker Release. Led to us getting are Fish Hawk X4D and me making are own Balls. Total Bummer man that does suck. Better luck next time. Take care -

Saturday we fished 6am to 12pm and went 4 for 5. Only place we found anything was in 60 ft of water west of the Oak. 1 Nice Brown, 2 Big Lakers, and a through back King. Tough going for us after doing so well last year and even this Spring. I don't know keep swinging i guess. Best of luck freespirit1 -

Are best has been are 76 rigger in 48 degree water. Believe it or not but we did go through some 35 degree water last weekend with are fish hawk. 9 and 10 color lead core off the boards has been good also. We have been wanting to go way off shore but keep getting into good fish at 170 to 200 the last 2 weeks in a row. Just wish we could keep them buttoned up. Good Luck!

It has definitely become a challenging season but we are getting a spoon program dialed in i believe. Stinger Mary Poppins has been are most reliable. Normally by now its a Flasher Fly but this year is very strange. Always glad to help out New Comers. This is my 4th year owning the boat and 5th fishing bigger water and i am a farm boy that had no knowledge what so ever and thanks to this site and actually meeting a few members at the ramp or the Black North we have come A LONG WAY. But still have much to learn. There is no dumb question and there are always members willing to help. This week we ran short leads 10 ft off the ball. As long as you got a good Marine Radio already save your money and get yourself a thermal and speed probe and that will be a big help. We run Fish Hawk X4D. Good Luck and be safe -

July 26th Headed out Saturday bright and early with Cousin Jay and 3 fellas from my Fire Hall. These three guys we tried taking last year and it was quite nasty as far as the waves so we headed her back to the barn way early. So really wanted to show these guys what Lake Ontario had to offer. Exchanged some Intel with Buck Board Jr and we ended up starting out with some inside Brown Trout action and got a few Skippy Kings, all caught on a Stinger Mary Poppins we released all of them successfully. Decided i was going to head her out to meet up with Buck and in 170 or so feet of water are 9 color lead core gets CRUSHED! This fish ripped real nice and we handed it off to Scott and a quick tutorial of fighting the King. This guy must of had somewhere to be cause on the brink of being spooled i got the board in the boat and we started to pursuit. We circled twice and got back to the lead and just like that he was gone. We have lost a lot of big fish this year, it got real quite and after reassuring Scott that these things happen i finished bringing in the the line and low and behold Black Meat Pounding Deep was still attached and the split ring and treble hook were gone. It has become a regular spoon for us and its funny to say to someone who is not expecting. So i put another one on and sent her out. As soon as i had Jay put the Fish Hawk down in that 48 degree water down 76 i hear Jay cranking his heart out and i see him lay the hook set of the year IT WAS AWESOME! It was Scott's turn up to bat again. And after 2 nice runs and a 5 minute battle we had Scott's BFE (Biggest Fish Ever) laying in the back of Boat. A beautiful 22 lbs King, Mary Poppins gave another one a spoon full of sugar . After high fives and pictures and a chorus of Chim Chimney Chim Chimney Chim Chim Chooro we went on to catch a few more young in's and called it a day cause the boys had to have Engine 10 out to Barker for the parade. July 27th Big thank you to Matt for coming over Saturday night and letting me use a extension i needed to tighten up are lower unit and lending a hand. Haywire has been taking on a bit of water the last two trips here and we found where it was coming in and she don't take on any at all now. So Sunday morning the wind was blowing at my house so i texted Buck and he gave me the green light and away we went. Had decided we were going to run out and fish deep. Out of the shoots the lake was a pancake and by the time we got to 200 i noticed some swells coming out of no where and decided well lets check out are good marks from the last few trips and troll North. Im telling you, i know iv only been at this for 5 years but 4 ft and 5 ft swells started pounding us bad. The lake went from 1 ft to 4, 5ftrs in honestly 15 minutes. So we put the waves at are rear and setup. Decided not to go any deeper cause i was nervous of the conditions. We ended up down by the Glass House and it was getting worse. We did do a nice Steel Head on the 76 rigger. Spoon my son picked out Saturday night. Moonshine Bisch's Bruiser. So Miky and Matt picked up and i kept her nosed into them and it was a nasty ride in. With a little boat behind us following we kept a close on eye on them cause they were really getting tossed around. By the time we got back that crazy lake was starting to lay down! So wanting to put a fish on the LOC board we setup for Lakers or Browns in 60 ft of water and the picture looked damn good. Took about 10 minutes and Bischs Bruiser fires and after a nice hook set Miky netted one of the nicest Browns iv ever caught. Great fight and it was beautiful coming up to the boat. Had 2 more drive by's on Bisch's Bruiser and Matt got a slot Laker on a cowbell tossed him back and decided to call it a day. Proud of the old boat for keeping us safe and Matt and Mike make a great crew. I have not laughed that hard in forever. You know you got good guys on board when its 5 ftrs, fishing is tough, and we had a ball. Back at it Saturday. Buck i love exchanging info and sharing pics. Its really cool that i have gotten to know other people that love this crazy sport the way i do. Buckboard Jr, Skipper 19, Shaun Fish FX, all really good dudes. From now on Tommy will be picking a spoon out every week. Best Depth: 170 Best Setup: 76 Rigger Best Lure: Stinger Mary Poppins, FLT Black Meat Pounding Deep, Moonshine Bisch's Bruiser(Tommy's Pick)

Ditto we did well last Saturday in 200 feet of water. Best rigger was 55 to 60 down and running Dream Weaver, Green Alewives and Sea Sick Wobbler. We were using 30 to 50 ft leads off the ball but experiment. Good Luck and be safe! -

Well we finally put together a trip worth reporting. We started out so good in April with the Browns and man has it been a tough go for us ever since. We did take a few weeks off because i was blessed with the birth of my 2nd child. A pretty little girl we named Lily, cant wait to get her a life time license. But any who we ended up battling engine problems for May and June. Ended up doing a extensive tune up, 2 new batteries, and a day playing with the electronic choke and adjusting air fuel mixture, idle, throttle linkage etc. So with the Haywire back to her old self we were ready to slay some fish!........ya right . I will be completely honest for 5 out of are 9 trips this year i was lucky if i could get a Laker to bite. Thought we really turned a page this year with the way we beat up the Browns but Lake Ontario gave us a big old dose of . Better to use the mooning guy there than what i wanted to say . So yesterday we headed out with the attitude lets go derby fishing, have fun and FISH THE WAY WE FISH! Found ourselves a real nice pocket of hungry fish. Are 50 to 60 riggers started firing steady. All spoon bite and the leads were anywhere from 30 to 50 off the ball. Even did a nice steely on a cheater. We let 5 go to fight another day had to keep 1 we wished we could of let go but he would not have made it. I had a great crew on board and we laughed and joked and ended the day 10 for 15 we lost 2 big boys. Who knew that sticking a Frito in your belly button would be good luck, but yesterday it was. Every time the one goof ball would do it we would take a bite . So after losing those 2 nice ones i told him to leave the Frito in his belly button till the fish were boarded....it worked, oh well it was funny. Ended the day with are lead cores off the boards doing the work for us. Had 2 absolute screamers that stretched are lead core right out and we landed them both. Beers and Jay were awesome netting, driving etc love fishing with those guys, and we got Scotty his BFE Biggest fish ever! For the first time in a while my little boy Tommy got to run out of the house to check out a decent looking cooler Looking forward to next Saturday. Got some work to do on the Haywire to get her ready. Good luck to all in the derby. Few of these pics are from earlier trips. 200 ft of water, west of the Oak 2.5 to 2.8 at the Fish Hawk Hot Lures: Sea Sick Wobbler, DW Green Ale wive, Black Meat Pounding Deep.
