i must be the only person in the U.S. that has heard of a 16 ga FULLY RIFLED barrel. Ithaca model 37 deerslayer. its AMAZINGLY accurate and lightfeild makes the commander ids in 16 ga. i have had gunsmiths tell me i should not be trusted with a gun since i cant tell the difference between a smooth and rifled barrel. has anyone ever even heard of this besides me??? im not crazy either by redneck standards.
this is the only one we caught in lake ontario unfortunatly. in april in about 5 feet of water with jr thunderstick.
they should stock these more than kings imho.
gamakatsu trebles but i will switch to something made in America and the singles are owner red hooks. if you want spoon tails we use totaly different hooks for those. these little guys we use behing the baby spin doctors with suprising success. there is talk of a 7 inch assasin from r&r in the ideah box. if that happens these flys will find a sure home in that mix.
anybody ever try the small peanut flies with single hooks? we had good luck with them this year so we made bunch up for friends. wondering if anyone might want to buy some for 2.25 a pop and 2.50 for the treble hook ones. we landed as many on single hooks as the treble but the singles have abit more action. costom colors welcome. but these are the ones that worked for us.
why does nobody know ithaca made fully rifled barrels in 16 Gauge for a model 37. its the best shooting shogun i have ever shot cant find one anywhere either. lightfield makes the commander ids slug in 16 ga so im sure of its accuracy and deadliness.
imo they should just stock laketrout, steelhead, browns, atlantic salmon and walleyes in lake ontario it would be much cheaper and easier plus there is enough natural reproduction in lake o for chinook and coho that they wouldnt go anywhere anyway
thats just my opinion
by the way landshark i seen one of your pics from the site up close and i met you before. you came to look at my bathtub in kirkville but anyway i guess ill make up the last post about a bad day.
bolth in one day. this was my first and last musky to date as well as my friend with the big beards first and last. these are oswegatchie river pure breed st. lawrence strain fish. and the pic didnt come out to good but we caught a 20.17 lb sheephead in oneida lake on the way home. huge fish man!!! what a weekend. hope that makes up for the negativity i spread all over!!
irish mist was trying to run his bow over mine 3 times in one mourning outing. even after giving more room he continued to change his course to make enemies it seems. it was no accident for sure. so we tied a 3 ounce sinker to a spinning rod and were going to bounce it off his head but i think he got the ideah whene we started coaxing him back over. what a friendly fisherman to share the lake with
not all browns go up the rivers
last time out monday and caught 3 browns in about 15-25 fow out from the -frame in mexico bay, 2 on crawler harness on copperline, and 1 on downrigger and r&r greenglow spoon going 1.7-1.9 on gps ...dunno how you guys do it out west tho.
cheapest fastest way is shower curtain hooks with alligator clips with a small peice of 3/8 plastic or rubber tube. one stop at the home depot and half hour in the garage. whene the fish hits it pops out of the release and the release slides to the board and the planer line is clear to be reset with another. at the end of the day you just pull them all off the planer line. no way id spend 25 bucks for 6 releases whene you need 120 of them on a good day.
