  1. .270 gr Powerbelt/3, Triple 7 pellets/CCI Magnum primer out of my Optima accounted for another one yesterday afternoon over here. Dropped and died on the spot, at about 90 yards.
  2. My son runs Hornady SST's thru his Marlin. They seem to do the trick.
  3. Often wondered about those, as I've always used a conventional wet stone. Might have to check one of those out.
  4. Several guys togather, and the sting wouldn't be too bad.
  5. 10 pt saplings leave a nasty taste in your mouth...............
  6. I'd bet good money that is on a per year basis.
  7. What about Sacandaga Res. thru the ice?
  8. .270's are a mighty fine deer caliber.
  9. I've got about 200 lbs up in the nose of mine, plus my gear. My "high speed" runs consist of about 25 mph and it's up/out at about 15 mph or so. With the extra weight, it comes back into the waves much better, sets better in the water, and is all and all a nicer ride IMHO.
  10. Filled a doe permit last Saturday with a Hornady polymer-tipped .325 gr .450 Marlin.........that passed thru also.......
  11. They offer up to 200 acre parcels.......3 year leases.
  12. When I saw the title to this thread, that was my immediate thought, and was questioned as to "What's so funny" by the wifey. You beat me to it.........
  13. Another e-mail this morning saying that all was 15% off until....can't remember, but anyway, you have to use a code "#TG15" when placing any orders with them as it said to have that discount. Thought some of you folks might want to know........
  14. Those younger bucks will stay on their home turf that their mothers ranged on, and constant sightings are pretty common with those, or at least from my experience.
  15. Either way, he looks comfortable in the back of that truck.......
  16. I've already been to the NYC/surrounding metro area for the last time in my life. Absolutely nothing there for me, whatsoever.
  17. Parker has 31"ers.
  18. We do not hesitate to kill those either. When the fire whistle blows down in the valley in the evening, you can hear them light right up at lot of times. Many more of those around than most people think.
  19. Was she dry?
  20. I've used a rattle bag in conjuction with a small tree limb attached to line, so the limb touches the ground. After a rattle sequence I have "jigged" the limb creating a rustling sound in the leaves. Have had it work over the years.
  21. My son will be here at 0-dark-thirty, then we'll be heading over to our happy hunting grounds. Hunt safe, gents.
  22. That would be a tough call for me now, and 98% chance I would not. There was a time i would have not given it a second thought. The dog(s) could very well be the family pet, and could break the heart of a child if it was killed? DEC, dog warden, local law enforcement should be able to curb that.
  23. Used to shoot 3 pellets of Pirodex years ago, with plain-jane 209's and a .295 gr. hollow-point Powerbelt. THAT load, was devastating up close!!!! OUCH!! After looking closer at the ballistic chart for those Powerbelts, switched to the .270's when they came to market. Kills the ones we've put in the crosshairs. Folks we know use Blackhorn 209 loose powder, with a .250 gr. something(?) and say they have good luck with that.
  24. We have new CVA Optimas here(2) stainless/fluted barrels with Bushnell 3-9's on them. We were sighting those in Saturday afternoon and my son was not hole-in-hole at 100 yards, but they were touching one another. I had the semi-same accuracy. We were using 3 pellets of Triple 7, CCI Magnum primers and .270 gr Powerbelts. Both were swabbed clean on each and every shot, followed by a couple dry patches to insure no dampness, as well as cleaning the breach plugs. Triggers on these are REALLY nice.
  25. How big? Big enough so that I would NOT hesitate for one solitary second if I saw that over here. Nice deer!
