  1. When they are in close, we have run them flat-lining off the big boards, with good results. I suspect in the shallower water the fish move away from the boat, and the J's are sitting right in their path.
  2. Bad-azz fishing machine!!
  3. That'll be a nice piece. I also whipped up a couple knurled fisherman's billy clubs from 1" aluminum years ago. Ladder stands, mobile ground blinds, archery stuff, waterfowling stuff. Can't really afford new, so I just make it.
  4. I whole heartedly agree with this. 10" split screen Lowrance/Navionics chip. Basically how we are rigged, but with a back-up fishfinder, and handheld radio as back-up also. Works for us.
  5. I was looking at that...... Keep my fingers crossed they are wrong.
  6. Looks like they are starting to show up. I've been counting the days, jonesin' for this time of year. Hope the wind isn't blowin' too bad this weekend. Happy to share what info we have, and we'll be up on 68 also. Scott
  7. I carved a version in one of my vertical mills, of the cast aluminum ones from a left-over piece of 1/2" thick, 6061-T6 billet, complete with a lanyard. Worlds most expensive probably. I could have bought several for what I have in that one.........but still catch myself doing that stuff anyway....I enjoy it.
  8. I casted a beautiful St. Croix/Pflueger Walleye jig rod set-up right out of my hand once. I stood there in total awe, watching that sink...........I even think I remember a small tear in the corner of my eye......lol. Hate losing gear of any kind.
  9. Full core, with various sized dive bombs off the big boards, have added fish to our day. Matter of fact when we were out in Wilson on Memorial Day, one our largest fish came off that, KOS spoon tied to a reverse eyeball man.
  10. You could use dive bombs, or snap weights, etc, on your lead, off the boards, but a dipsey is way less to fool with, and magnum dipseys will pull you down pretty darn deep, IMHO.
  11. We use it with an 11" plate/twinkies usually.
  12. They'll be there pretty darn soon now.
  13. I too have fiddled around with those...........and same here, no luck. Doesn't mean I won't give them another go sometime though.
  14. We keep spare batterys on board.
  15. I misunderstood how it was being advertised, so I have retracted my previous comment.
  16. Mighty slow on Sunday, and VHF was confirming my results. Very few marks, and what little there was, were suspended at 28-32 ft. Targeted those fish, but they were there, because of the huge bait clouds. Mucho grass on the surface to contend with also, but typical of the fish, and the grass this time of year. More shorts than keepers, and naturally the silver bass were all too happy to join the party. Played around with my new Fish Hawk TD, and those are a NICE unit to help gather info. I hear the big lake calling now..........
  17. That was one one of Red's(RIP)favorite.
  18. Justin, #5 and 7 Rapalas, Hot Steel, Firetiger, AC Shiners, Jr. T/sticks all work pretty good on Oneida from my experience. Too easy to just send the bouncers down........lol. Also heard on the radio of folks doing well on spoons.
  19. We use that braid on our dipsy rods also, a bit heavier though.
  20. What a boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I have an over-abundance of some new-in-package, Nuclear Green SD's.........
  22. I was leaning in that direction as well.
