  1. God's "ears" is what I believe your wanting to say? Not his "ars"..........
  2. We have a 22ft'er, and it'll handle more rough water than I'll fish in. Runs like a watch, and behind the 2500 Silverado, you don't even know it's there. Just put a washdown set-up on it this year.
  3. I have the tapered ends up into an actual file handle, and they do make quick work of keeping super-sharp hooks.
  4. Seems Mexico's action is off from last spring............by far, but that should be changing in a few weeks.
  5. How is the Walleye fishing on the Sacandaga? I usually like to hit one lake each year, that I haven't fished before.
  6. Yep, bouncers and crawler harnesses on the breaks, and once the lake fully warms, hit the deeper water, .8-1.3 mph. 1.5 is a tick too quick, or at least from what I've found. Caught a pile-o-fish over the years with them. I also target suspended fish via downriggers/# 5 and 7 Rapalas, rolling along at/near 2.0. I hear folks chattering on the radio about various spoons being used too.
  7. We started with green and white 8" plates, green/white flies, a few spoons, and a few J-Plugs...............but that was a while ago.....lol.
  8. Yep, Dive Bombs or Snap Weights. Used Snaps Memorial weekend at Wilson, running lead off the boards. Figured to be about 80 down, and those set-ups we taking as many hits as the riggers I had down at that depth.
  9. Sounds like the greasers are the best bet?
  10. We were next to you in about 145-155 fow right out in front of the Wilson chute yesterday, or at least it sure looked like you. We spent Sunday night at the Lakeview Motel, and left the launch about 6:00. We intially sat down in 65 fow or so, and took a look, and actually had some decent marks, but decided to head out a bit farther. Sat down again in 130 and had about the same screen, and worked that area out to 200. We had a blast!!! Great fishing!!! UV plate pulling a frog glow spoon at 80 down took the most hits, as did a frog glow SD/glow hammer off the boards with our lead/snap weight set-up, at about 80 down. King of Sting took the largest of the day........17 lbs. Jensen Shoehorn Green UV took 2 beautiful coho. Only spoon that we ran that took 0 hits was a Green Dolphin. We took fish at 50 and 65 from the same UV plate, pulling a UV Green Glow fly. I want to move out there..........lol. Scott
  11. Went to one of my first stops first thing, and had it all to myself. First 1.00 mph east wind drift and boated a 21"er from a perch-patterened blade/bouncer. 2 more pulls over that spot, working it shallower, and deeper was nothing, and sporadic marks as well. Picked up and motored over to the north shore, and,........... mama!! Marks galore from 15 ft down to the bottom, from 19 fow all the way to 31 fow!! As I found, alot were shorts, but during gently returning those, it was a steady pick of good fish. I sucombed to running only 2 rods as that was plenty to keep up with. Rain came about 9:30 or so, but did not stop the bite, or myself either. Saw the jig fisherman swinging nets as well. By the time 11:00 came around things had dramitcally slowed, and after working another 70 hr. work week, and getting up at 3:45, I was feeling it, but it was a good tired, with 3 Walleyes in the box all over 19". This coming weekend, we are going to strap our salmonoid hats on and see if the western end of the big lake will be as giving as Oneida was. Scott
  12. I used some UV plates last year, and the fish did prefer those over others being offered in the same spread, time and again.
  13. That is a good one..............especially when used ahead of a Big Weenie Butterface Glowtail!!
  14. Those fish will be in the lake come mid-summer, and the bite can be tough sometimes then.
  15. My 4.3 Islander will go right down to about 1.3 on the gps, but there is usually 3 people, the dog, and actually too much gear.
  16. Had a Manley spring scale for years. Durable? Shy of using it for a hammer, it won't let you down.
  17. Richard, do you know Daredevil?
  18. Certainly need a variety of tackle but don't get caught up in that. And I have said before, that 3/4's of a fishing lures job is completed, once the fisherman makes that purchase.........
  19. Napa sells a Marine cleaner.
  20. There is a "hole" where Fish Creek enters the NYS Barge Canal, that folks basically anchor on the edge, and cast jigs. When I have been up there, always a congregation of boats, and your out of the wind as well.
  21. Plenty of cooperative 'eyes on Oneida, but there is a TON of bait too.
  22. Came out of the chute and ran over to the NYS Barge Canal and trolled it, to hide from the predicted wind. Had a .8-1.0 mph drift w/o power in certain sections, so I knew it was hummin' on the open lake. Did not slam them, but did catch our limit, with a slow pick on dark-colored Colorado blades. The ride back in some that were 4-41/2 footers kept me on my toes, but nothing I haven't done before. Give it another go next week.
  23. Anyone pull those Magic Minnows? They look like they'd be a real winner.
