  1. I'll stick with the gear I have.......it's long been paid for.
  2. When I was a young man, in the '60's you could have litterally backed a pickup truck up to the door of a gun shop and bought all you wanted, and there were not people walking into schools, or movie theaters comitting these horiffic crimes, and the gun laws, that have now been brought to protect us, from ourselves were not there................now fast-forward to present day, and even with background checks, strict pistol permit laws, etc, these shootings are a ramant occurance. It is clearly not the firearm that is at fault...........
  3. I had a pile of assorted boxes. Ended up with 4 of those, and put duct tape "labels" on them. When we are fishing we just lay the gear on the doghouse, in the Starcraft. Makes for a nice work area......as long as it's not too bumpy.
  4. For some reason, they seem even better thru the ice, maybe it's just me.....
  5. 13-15" of ice, where we fished on Oneida today. Walleyes on the menu tommorrow night, here!!
  6. Bob, Yes, they will/do sell directly to the public. They are open during the week, no weekend hours, last I knew. I've got to get my tail up there in the next couple weeks. You certainly do not want to be un-swivelized........ Scott
  7. I've been snubbed here before as well, only figured I didn't know the secret handshake..........
  8. The name of our boat is way too simple. We hunt for fish...........Fish Hunter.
  9. I too fish Walleyes, and your right, it will feel like your flying, at first. When your used to .08-1.2, 2.2 does seems fast.
  10. I use a variety of sticks off the boards...... regular and jointed Rapalas, Jr. T/sticks, Smithwicks, Rebels, AC Shiners, etc. The fish will tell you what they want. Anymore, I use almost nothing but Suttons off the riggers, 'cause they always seem to want those.
  11. We were out of Mexico Point in the very first part of March last year. Caught 'em consistantly until Oneida finally opened,(boat restriction last year) for the 'eyes.
  12. Strength is needed or you will loose your rods. When I made my rocket launcher system I added 2 bird-tree rod holders, on each side and then actually added one more, for when I frog around with the outriggers. 2" diameter, 1/8" wall Alcoa tubing does the trick.
  13. No plans of going out(on Oneida)until we have a good long cold spell. I've ice-fished that lake since the late '70's and have been in the water. I'll just stay down in the cellar and putter around with fishing gear.
  14. "Mammoth" is a good word for those. By the time you have the fish close, your happy, happy, happy.....
  15. Can we go directly thru you?
  16. Usually, if you can get them to follow it up, you can get them to take it.
  17. Used, but with great care, nutmeg, right hand, and I believe it is the varmint.
  18. Clear, black, green, and Jensen Batman.
  19. I did not know that, and appreciate the additional info that you added.
  20. Looking forward to some Perch, and Walleyes thru the ice, soon myself.
  21. Mostly Okuma's here too. BTW, How is the Walleye fishing on the Sacandaga? Been up there on many occasions on business, past Fish House, Town of Day, but never fished. You probably troll for 'em?
  22. I have a Lowrance H2O,, which is a hand held, with a Navionics chip. Either on the snowmobile, or the 4-wheeler(better choice for me), I drive right up to the edges/stucture that holds 'em when fishing for them on liquid water. Punch a hole, and take a peek with the Vexilar.
  23. When jigging with not only Rapalas, we also use Kastmasters, and good 'ol Swedish Pimples as well. All tipped with minnow heads, or tails. I like to "dead stick" in the second hole, and have grabbed some slobs doing just that, on Oneida, especially towards the last part of the season. Hopefully we will get some good, safe, ice, with this cold coming in.
