  1. December 7th, is/was supposed to be peak of 2nd rut. Folks that hunted around the Stockbridge Valley today, said they had doe and buck sightings. Couldn't slip out of the shop this afternoon, but my son, and myself will be sitting tight by 2 pm tommorrow.
  2. We've killed 2 this year here. There are going to be less yet after deer season.
  3. Looks like Oneida??
  4. Still hunting is more looking/watching than being under motion. Never stop without using a tree or other object to break up the human outline, if at all possible. Killed a lot of deer slipping through the woods, into the wind. That said.......... Saturday afternoon sit, had 'em moving over here. My son had "live" decoys in front of his ground blind, and I did also. He saw 11 different deer, and I saw 8. No bucks. This coming weekend we will fill doe permits. Hopefully now the jet stream will pull some COLD down, into NYS, and then, they'll be up on their feet much more, requiring much more caloric intake, ie corn, beans, nuts, staying later in the feed, and coming earlier. Set up down wind of where they are coming to their favorite food source, in the afternoon, and IF there is a buck around, and IF, there are a doe or two, or early born fawn, coming into season, then you might stand a good chance connecting. It's worked for us.
  5. We have an old doe on the farm we hunt. HUGE! She looks like a rectangle with legs. She too had triplets this past year. 1 buck fawn that has 2" "nails" coming out, and 2 other doe fawns. She hangs out with another that has twins. We usually hold off till the end to pull the does off, and she may be one that we do. Nice going!
  6. Have killed good bucks displaying rut-type behavior at the tail end of regular gun, and even into muzzle season.
  7. Wonder if that unit is compatable with XC-111 cables/tranducer/etc?
  8. This is the first I've looked at this......
  9. On Saturday the shoulder won't stand a snowball's chance in hell.
  10. Beech nuts. Have seen 'em bury their head way under the snow for them.
  11. My son and I saw 4 seperate bucks on the farm we hunt, 11/5. 8 total deer spotted. Saw 8 pt chasing from my stand, and my son had a nice one respond to his grunt call. No shot. 3 good un's on the cameras, but have not seen them yet. Went past that farm last night, and they were taking the last beans from near his stand,(combine had the lights on, and could see them thru the trees) but there is a TON of beans left during the harvest of them. Going to slip in there about 40 mins before first lift Sat morn, and have my son lay down a drag-rag scent trail, along the creek bottom, to his stand. See what happens............
  12. Good deal no doubt, but tried to buy some listed lead rod set-ups awhile back...........I'll pass.
  13. Those Rage heads do a number on 'em. BTW, a neighbor, Sunday, shot a 226 lb, dressed, 13 pt, that green scored 153 3/8. 6" bases, with split brows. G2's and 3's are about 12". Ear's look like a donkey. I imagine he'll have that mounted. That deer was never seen, on the farm he hunts, although the sheds were found last year.
  14. We've got the Fish Hunter I & II in the barn last night, all tucked in for the winter. Next fishing we'll do, will be on the hard water. Good luck to the Shelby Lynn crew.
  15. I shoot 4" helical vanes on 33" Easton 2512 Ultra-Lites/125 grain Rage's, from an Octane 3-legged rest, at 65 lbs, from my old trusty Oneida Eagle Aero-Force 80. Has a distinct "thump" when they hit. I run 1 pin set for 30 yds. Yeah, I know it's old school, but it works for me. I don't try acobatic shots, but inside 35 yds, they seem to die. Just got back in, from attending to our stands. More scapes since last weekend. Cameras are showing a couple good-uns, and have several pics of 1, feeding with the does/fawns in a secluded bean field, where we have had a productive stand for several seasons now. 1 of our wooden blinds has a pile of wasps in it,(not the first time) and brought spray to rid it of them, but with the warm temps, there wasn't any way of doing that. Once it cools off, we'll get rid of them.

  17. I'd take a look around Bouy 113.
  18. We have a Summit, and an Ol' Man. Both work great.
  19. Thats a good method too.
  20. Can't fish right now as I twisted my hip climbing out of the boat, 9/8, and pinched the siatic nerve. WOW!!!!!!!!! THAT F*%^ING HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is getting better, glad to say. Bow season is near anyway. But we'd tip the J's with a liitle meat, and flatline them 100-125 out, or on 2-3 colors of lead off the boards, or if you have outriggers, give that a try. When they start porposing, it is mighty tough.
  21. How many realeases, and what do you want for them?
  22. We've fished every weekend since mid-April, and we need to get moving on the bow season coming up soon, clearing lanes, 4 wheeler maintence, etc, etc. We'll be getting our boats in the barn anytime now.
