  1. Good 'eyes were caught on Oneida the last few days from what we heard. Gotta' work tommorrow, or I'd venture out, on foot, at this point. Might go Sunday, if all seems safe.
  2. Nice. I machined something similar, from 6061-T6 aluminum, for my Tracker I use on Oneida. I milled slots in them to put pliers in also.
  3. Agreed ! Lets all meet up at Long Pond encircle ourselves with Bloodshot-made tip-downs, throw some veni-sausage on the barbie, then hold hands and sing Kumbaya all while waiting for the sheepsheads to bite.... I don't know if I'm up for that, especially the hand-holding part.
  4. How's this; I did not ice fish last weekend, or ever, for that matter. I have never caught any fish, whatsoever, in any waters in the US, or Canada, on any type of artifical lure, or live bait. I never fish, ever, anywhere, and know nothing of that sport. I think I thought I saw a fish, once, but was mistaken. Hope no one reads this and goes fishing, just because I don't.
  5. Heading to the east end of Oneida tommorrow. About the time of year they congregate in that area.
  6. Nice talking to you Jim. Looking foward to giving those a try!!
  7. Big 'un!! My son and a couple of his buds went on a local pond(Leland Pond) last spring, many times, in my old 16" Gumman, and caught a 15"er, along with a pile of other panfish. Didn't even know they got that big.
  8. Been there many times on the snowmobiles, when heading over to Montague, and floating around on the "hill" in general. Sounds like it would be worth talking my Grumman with the electric, and taking a good look one day. We know some folks over in Glenfield, up on the Brantingham hill, and over in Lyons Falls too.
  9. Ray, Doesn't sound too appetizing to me. Sure that's what you use?? Bob, If that is HALF as good as the chowder, it'll be a home run. Where is that cookbook?? Barnes and Noble said it was coming soon??
  10. We moved 4 times on Oneida yesterday, looking for the 'eyes, and only connected with perch. Better than a sharp stick in the eye, though.
  11. Have 18's here, for years. Good units.
  12. Betcha' fried taters and beans were probably cooking shortly after those were cut up. Least that's how it happens here.
  13. Snowmobiles are the method of transport, as the wheelers are getting stuck.
  14. As of yesterday the snow pack insulated the rain we had, from freezing, yet. Slushy slop. Mighty tough to get out on the ice, but that should be set up tight for the weekend. From the weather report, better dress warm, and a heater never hurts either.
  15. Thanks for the replys. Great news for the Mohawk Valley manufacturing industry/economy, to have full-tilt production once again at Remington. Once upon a time there were 2 GE plants in Utica, 2 Bendix Fluid Power locations, Chicago Pneumatic, Sperry-Univac, Kelsey-Hayes, Bossert Mfg, and Utica Cutlery(still there, but very small now). All of those are long gone, as is Oneida Ltd. (knives/folks/spoons) that was based in Sherrill, N.Y. Sad.
  16. Frabill Recon 1 man "clam" style ice shelter. 200.00 new, unassembled, used 2 times............145.00 takes it. Munnsville, N.Y. Call me, 8-5, M-F, 315-495-6650.
  17. After the recent warm temps, folks were still fishing on Oneida. It was a village out there on Friday morning, but the keeper walleyes went not cooperating. What ice there was, melted to the point, that someone went in the water, off the east end of the North Shore yesterday, as we were told. Be mighty careful if attempting to go, and go with another person. Hope the upcoming colder temps get things back on track, as things seem good.
  18. Heard from a local gun shop that Marlin is now owned, by the same group that owns Remington Arms, in Ilion, N.Y., and the "Marlin" name is defunct. Hope not. What have you folks heard?? Thanks.
  19. Maybe a version of that, in the head as well. Just jokin' around. Neat idea.
  20. 4-5" of hard ice, 12/26/10 Haven't gone out yet, but had folks tell me of good walleyes being caught on the east end. Thought I'd pass that along.
