  1. I asked that same question when I was first told about it. The answer was three parts. 1. 99% of the fish caught on 3 treble lures were caught on the end/middle treble. Never on the front most 2. With nearly all hooked fish being on the middle/rear hook it leaves the front open and swinging around to get buried in your hand when handling fish 3. For netting purposes it just gets tangled ‘Bout Time Mike
  2. I remove the trebles on all my stickbaits that have have three sets. If they have two I leave them on. An old Captain told me to do this and ever since I’ve done it. Caught plenty of fish with them removed. I never did run one with all three next to one with the front one removed for a true test. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. It may but two boards in the water sitting low pull a lot harder than one and they are more stable ‘Bout Time Mike
  4. Not rushing it. Seems like every year I do get water running through my block we get a hard freeze the next week or so. I usually do all maintenance in March and shoot for hitting the water in April. 'Bout Time Mike
  5. Not the best picture but the ice is about 50% gone and the entire bay. Little sodas in and turtle Cove lunches are not usable they are iced in the state park looks open 'Bout Time Mike
  6. I also used cedar for my boards. I added the weight as mentioned above and mine are like mules. I almost have to stop to retrieve them. I broke two planer reels before I learned this lessons. A charter captain years ago had a set made out of PT and they weighed a ton. I thought he was crazy but now I understand. 'Bout Time Mike
  7. Move the tow eye back towards the rear of the board more, even just an inch or two. Also drill some small holes in the bottom of the boards towards the rear and fill them with lead. I used old sinkers. Then epoxy over the lead to seal the holes. This will make the boards sit lower in the water and “bite” more adding them to pull harder and better Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  10. I run 3 cannons. 2 of the HS and one STX. Never had any issues with them. I run 13lb torpedoes and 14lb sharks with them pulling a probe. As any newer “high speed” rigger make sure that your wire size from your battery to the rigger is sufficient enough, as they draw more AMPs then the older ones ‘Bout Time Mike
  11. I have two of the Kingfish II chairs going on 6 years now and still holding up great. I do fold them up and store them in the cockpit or cuddy when not in use but they have seen tons of use so far. I did remove the hardware and put new lock-tite on them when I bought them Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  15. One thing I would advise is to order an extra one or set. I always have a spare set aboard. They are a easy to change and when they go they can ruin a trip or weekend. 'Bout Time Mike
  16. More than likely yes. They are just a plastic collar and can get worn after time. There should be a nipple on the collar that fits in the boom. Sometimes they get broken off and cause similar issues. ‘Bout Time Mike
  17. 10-12’ of 30lb Berkley big game for me Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. I use 4x4 posts. I put one in the stern inside a cement post holder and use decking straps to make a cradle at the top. I run 4x4 from this post forward and it rests on a blanket on my hardtop. I do the same for the bow with a another post holder and run the 4x4 back towards the stern. Due to my particular setup (walk around cuddy) I found that this has been the most stable. I live just north of Syracuse and we see a lot of snow and this has never let me down. 'Bout Time Mike
  19. I would have to agree especially out in 200 FOW ‘Bout Time Mike
  20. Agree with all above. It’s a Yo-Zuri floater size 2 3/4” “clown”. That’s the original color scheme and I do not believe they make that finish anymore. I believe they have been replaced by the crystal minnow series. ‘Bout Time Mike
  21. It’s too tough to tell fish size when you never see it. The famous tale of the one that got away. Inline boards work well most of the times but there are times when even a hit from a smaller fish that the board may catch a wave just right and it dive bombs and goes wherever it wants. It often digs down and side planes wherever the current takes it. Not saying that’s what happened to you but it happens every so often Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Thanks Pap. There different types of guys on this site. Me - I’m not looking to get rich, just trying to help the fellow angler out whether it be from selling gear that I don’t use anymore for less, or to my fishing reports where I keep no secrets. We’ve all been there one day..... 'Bout Time Mike
