  1. If you're interested in that type of finish it'd be easier to buy rubber replaceable netting. Just need to know the size. I use a rubber net for browns but a regular one for salmon. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. For me personally this hits home. I just underwent shoulder surgery and will not be able to bow hunt for 2-3 years at best (if ever again). I have talked to the local DEC officer and my injury does not qualify for a "allowance" to use a crossbow or other such bow during the normal bow season. The law is more geared towards permanently disabled and/or amputees. I have never truly considered cross bow as I was a hardcore compound guy, but this has definitely opened my eyes about it. Maybe if they don't open it to everyone but rather change the law that allows hunters with certain injuries to hunt with a crossbow during normal season. They would have to produce a doctors note and obtain a special permit allowing it. I'm not sure there is a correct answer in "everyone's" eyes but can can tell you how bad it hurts to hear you may never be able to do something again when it is your true passion. It will be tough to "sit on the sideline" for a month or so awaiting for the crossbow season to open this year. I generally put in 30-35 days in the woods out of a normal bow season which is roughly 45 days....... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  4. I also have high seas rod tree. I also couldn't pass up the price I got on eBay for them. Great quality and no issues so far. I only use mine for early brown trout season and later in the end of season when fishing the top 30'. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. I run 13 and 15 lb torpedos on my cannons (mag 10HS and STX) with no problem. I also run 12-14 lb sharks without issues. Make sure you are using heavy gauge wiring for your power connection. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. The best ive come up with is to use a cheap cutting board from Wally World. Trace one of the existing dividers and then I cut the outside shape out with a band saw and use a table saw for all the grooves the hooks fit into. it works great and is waterproof too
  7. The bay is frozen all the way to the lake. If you go on Facebook there is a local photographer that takes and posts pics almost daily of the bay and lake. He is called "Onephoto". Best up to date information I can find without driving up there and checking myself. 'Bout Time Mike
  8. FYI...That comes out to .875" or 7/8 'Bout Time Mike
  9. I had labrum done. Because my tear was longer than normal and more posterior (in the back) than anterior it has drastically increased my rehab time.....I'm a former motocross racer, catcher in baseball for 20 years, not to mention all the hunting, fishing and all other work. I was told it was probably an old injury which just keep getting worse as time went on...... 'Bout Time Mike
  10. Quick update not going so well. It is determined that I have nerve damage now. I am behind in all aspects of recovery from range of motion to muscle strengthening. With that said I was told I'm looking at a 2-3 year recovery period and hope to be at 85-90% when all done. I was told at the 6 month mark I am lucky to be at 30% which is deer season. So here is my next question. What would everyone suggest as a good cross bow without breaking the bank ? Nothing against cross bows I just never imagined myself using them .... Harsh reality but it's better than not being able to get out 'Bout Time Mike
  11. I started the season with a decent one from Oswego, and then landed two more out of fair haven over the season. The largest I would estimate would be around 13lbs 'Bout Time Mike
  12. Lol - Yes it Is. The boat had a C80 ( 8" ) screen to start with. When looking for a replacement I couldn't pass up the deal on this one (it's 12"). It actually works great because I can see it from The back of the boat without squinting. Problem I have is guys on board think it's like a TV and tend to watch that more then the rods ....... 13. You'll love the flush mounts. They look great, they're out of the way, really clear up a lot of dash space, and it's nice having everything right there 'Bout Time Mike
  14. These are called leader mates and made by a company called Luna Sea or Cush It. It sounds similar to what you are looking for 'Bout Time Mike
  15. Pm sent on rod holders if letsfish isn't interested 'Bout Time Mike
  16. It's like the stuff for sale here or even at garage sales. Some guys think their stuff is worth a million and others are looking to unload it at a bargain. I picked up a diver rod with twill tip paired with a okuma convector line counter 30d for 25 bucks. Not that I needed it but it was a good deal and will work as a "backup rod". I also picked up 3 echip flashers paired with atommik files for $15. Again not needing them but always good to have extras at those prices. It is definitely a place where if you see it and want it, buy it because chances are you won't get a second chance at it. It was good to see many guys that I haven't seen in a while and beats sitting home watching the snow. 'Bout Time Mike
  17. It is the same no matter where you go. There were deals to be had but had to look through all the "other" stuff. Some guys always put crazy prices on things and others are looking to just unload some stuff and not get rich. 'Bout Time Mike
  18. Never seen a camera but I did see an old timer that used a larger mirror to watch his rods. It was a waterski type mirror. He had a bad neck and couldn't turn around that good and it worked well for him 'Bout Time Mike
  19. It's 3" wide total and notched 3/8" from each side for rail clearance 'Bout Time Mike
  20. Received a reply from Shark today "Hi Mike, Thank you for your order and your interest in our flashers! We just introduced them to the market last July after a few years of prototype testing. We are still perfecting our techniques on our finishes. Each one is hand painted so they are not all exactly alike. I do not know what happened to those eyes. I will check with our supplier of eyes and make sure the adhesion on them works well with the type of stickers we use. No one else has mentioned these issues. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Good Fishing! Suzanne Shark Trolling Products" It is kind of what we figured but just wanted to update everyone they did reply to me Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. That is the tension for when it is set to freespool. Most guys tighten it just enough that it keeps the line from going out too fast and backlashing. If it's too tight your line will not go out Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. I read to use forward most hole on front and the outside tail hole on rear for best action. I also read that adding a swivel to the fly instead of direct tie kills the action. Have not tried yet Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I recently ordered some new shark flashers to try this year. When I received them I was not impressed with their finishes and differences between same exact flashers. I emailed Shark as well as sent a FB message (which they read) but received no reply back. Below is what my message was to them "just ordered some flashers online. They came in and look good but out of 5 ordered 3 have different finishes. I ordered 3 money shot 2 are identical and the third is missing the eye and has only green dot on one side and on back it's has black green and orange dots. I also ordered 2 high voltage. One has an eye on it and the other doesn't. Also one is frosted white finish and the other a UV type. Is this normal to have such different finishes and colors on the same exact flashers ?" These are minor differences but very noticeable. Like stated above, 2 of the money shot have eyes, green dots painted over black on both sides and the third is green only on one side with the other side having orange, black and green and no eye. On the 2 high voltage, similar issues one eye and one not, one is clearly a frosted white and the other a UV type. Was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with Shark flashers? While they are not show stoppers it was definitely not the product quality I expected. I almost always buy in person but thought I'd try these, lesson learned perhaps. Disclaimer- this is not a Bash on Shark as I run their weights and am very impressed and a satisfied customer on that aspect Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Thanks for all the advice. Everything went as expected screws anchors reattachments and now road to recovery. I will ask for advice as the season nears for best all around lower poundage bows with fingers crossed On a side note I had the Doctor upgrade the drag washers and increase the gear ratio while he was in my shoulder. Fish beware and hope to be posting by May. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
