  7. My washdown pump runs but will not prime and pump out water. The inlet is good and so is the valve as my bait well is Td in after both and works without problems. The pump runs but will not prime and I can hear a "gurgle" - is the pump going bad ??? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. I had the same issue when I ran them. The grease builds up and actually gets stuff. Clean the grease off, check for burrs as that's why my were sticking and oil lightly. I ran Bert's for 6 years and have switched to cannons Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Went out last night with mom and dad to do some bass fishing. We were trolling two bombers one on each side and a deep diving fire tiger rapala down the middle. Started trolling in 12 FOW and when we hit 16 FOW the center rod bends almost in half ( ultralight ugly stick) and I see a decent fish jumping immediatly. I grab the rod adjust the drag and hand it to mom. I'm thinking we hit a steelie. After a long fight it's close to the boat and I get a back shot of it and All I see is dark so now I'm thinking it's a king. After another 5 minutes we get it close again and I see now it's a brown. After almost 15-20 minute fight ( ultra light tackle spinning gear) we were able to out a net under him. Dad didn't have a scale in his boat but I am guessing 12-13lbs. A great fish on light gear. Btw.... Not a single bass but it didn't matter Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  11. Fished from 6-11. Ended with 14 lb king, 6 lb steelhead, and 2 lakers biggest being 7 lbs. all fish came in 220-240 FOW. Steelhead and lakers took UV spoons in die hard, dolphin, and orange crush off the boards. King hit glow frog spoon on rigger down 51 over 230 FOW. Started in 50 and worked our way out. Once we found the temp break it was fish on. Marked ALOT down 90-130 in the 230 range but couldn't get them to fire. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  19. There are two Scotty releases. One smaller that is used for lighter lines generally spring browns and the larger ones used for downriggers/coppers. They are a pinch pad release. Use the larger ones for heavier lines (cores/coppers) Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. I always run a mix and see what fires. Down speed will all depend what you are using to measure it. For depth raider my best 2.1-2.3, I know the sub-troll guys like 2.4 and most fish hawk folks say 2.6. Start with one and if no action increase or decrease to see what fires. When you get a hit just repeat repeat repeat. Depth/lure and speed Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Deeper on the inside and shallow on outside that way when outside rod fires it naturally will flow over the top of the deeper inside line to the middle. Generally speaking the "spring time" releases are too light for the heavier lines. You can use the spring release with one or even two rubber bands to get through. I prefer the big Scotty pinch pad releases for my coppers Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Now I know how the wife feels when Facebook is down. I was is panic mode Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. 14 wraps of leader around the diver. I never measured it but a old charter captain told me this a long time ago and it has always worked for me 'Bout Time Mike
  24. I have a trophy 23.5 hard top and it's pushed with a Yamaha T8. I would think 20 would be a bit much. I know a couple guys with 10 meter Trojans and 298 penn yans that use 25hp kickers. If the price was right and it works for you why not ??? 'Bout Time Mike
