  1. Wondering if anybody has experimented with the TX 44 boards pulling 450 or even 600 copper [ Post made via Android ]
  2. http://www.fishdoctorcharters.com/templ ... ctor=video check the video "How to Tie a Tournament Tie Fly Leader"
  3. I use Snell on both the trebble and single. If you look at Fish Dr video and do it his way very few will pull to the side. It does take some practice.
  4. The Banana is a defenite NO ON-BOARD. 2 years ago out of Fair Haven its was an absolute blood bath for Browns for everyone except us. when the guy I brought aboard decided to eat breakfast, he opens his cooler and out comes a Banana, I yelled at him to throw it overboard and he just looked at me like I was crazy. i then took his banana tossed it over and proceeded to empty his cooloer just in case there was any more. Within minutes we had fish flying. He still thought I was crazy, so i got on the radio and asked the question and he proceeded to get a mouthful from everyone (in a nice way of course). He learned his lesson and now when he goes fishing with me he even changes his underwear before he goes if they are froot of a loom because they have a Banana on them. -
  5. There is nothing better than sharing moments with your dad. My dad and I have a similar relationship as you and like Ray said make sure he gets a chance to read this. It will mean more than you know to him. I have had the privelage of sharing a majority of my summer with Dad on my boat and I would not have it any other way. Remember these times as one day they will be memories so live every day to the fullest and love your dad like every day is the last. Mike 'Bout Time PS. I love you POPs [ Post made via Android ]

  10. Been on many charters and have run MANY trips of my own, One thing to keep in mind is some of the BEST CAPTAINS still have days where the fish do not cooperste. it does not mean that they are not the BEST CAPTAINS. you can tell when a guy is working his ass off and putting in effort regardless of how many fish are in the box. too many people judge someone by how many fish they catch versus the experience and time on the water. we all love to catch fish but there is more to it. i always say if the captain/mate are curteous, knowledgable, and are working their butts off to try to get into fish then they deserve a good tip. It is like having the greatest Waiter in the world and the Cook screwed up the food - its not the waiters fault. on the other side you can always tell when they are taking you on a "water taxi". just my 2 cents........
  11. Dipsey rods go forward of all my riggers (closer to the helm) . I run 4 riggers, one on each corner and one on each side out 90 degrees. Like Ray said watch your turns and hit the throttle a little to control your rods.
  12. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:'Bout Time II ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8-12 Time on Water:6pm-8:30pm Weather/Temp: 70s overcast Wind Speed/Direction: S- SW N NW Waves: 1-5 Surface Temp: 76 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated:2 Species Breakdown:KINGS Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 2.8-3.6 Down Speed: 2.0 - 2.2 Boat Depth: 90-300 Lure Depth:73-100 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My nephew and his buddy came up to camp and asked to go fishing. the lake was too rough all day to take them out (they are a little green) . decided at 6pm to head out for a quick trip. did not have high expectations since all fish that came to the boat Saturday were from the 300 foot range, and i didnt have time to push out that far. started setting rods in 90 FOW for the hell of it in hopes of maybe getting some browns or even a laker. I set the probe rigger first down 73 over 90 and had 52 degree water. i explained to the boys what the rod would do if a fish hit. i then turned my back and started on rigger number two and my nephew says "you mean like that", i yelled fish and we were hooked into a big fish that quick . after some teaching on "the proper technique" we had a nice 26 plus pounder in the net. I reset the rod and continued setting the spread. 15 minutes later the 85 rigger over 120 fires and immediatley this fish starts jumping all over the place. it jumped a total of 4 times. it ended up tangled in the dipsey wire and another rigger line. we were able to clear all tangles and bring the fish to the net. it had the Mag Die Hard firmly planted in its dorsal fin. this one ended up going 17lbs. a couple quick pictures and it was released. by this time it was 7 oclock and i now had high hopes of a great night when the skies opened up and it poured on us and the lake picked up from 1-2s to 4-6s. we pushed North to stay on the outside edge of the storm and by the time it passed it was 8:20 and we were in 300 FOW. i picked up and started the run back in the dark. A great night despite all the issues and the storm. they have already asked if we can do it again tomorrow
