  1. does anyone fish the south end in a canoe? I usually spend time in the Adirondacks once the ice falls pulling flies behind the canoe and never thought about doing it on Seneca.
  2. i agree. i have a new outboard being put on next week. Cant wait for the spring browns!
  3. how is the water on the ice Kevin?
  4. @ Tigerhunter, is there in fact a fishable population of Northern Pike in Oneida? I have been fishing it for a few years now and have caught countless Pickeral but never a Pike. I love hard water pike fishing and would be thrilled if Oneida had a population worth going after. Any info would be appreciated.
  5. That was some great stuff. My 6 yr old acts the same way when he catches little pike on his tip ups. Lol [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  6. How's the ice on the river Kevin? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  7. I'm not familiar with Otter Lake. Can you please PM me directions on how to get there MeatHunter? Thanks for the info guys. The last thing I want to do is put my son in a dangerous situation.
  8. Thanks for that piece of information Time Out. I always take my 6 year old with me and certainly dont want to risk his life on unsafe ice. I guess I will have to give it a shot alone before taking him with me on Cross Lake. Do the Pike usually run shallow there or are they found in deeper water during the winter?
  9. I was wondering if there was anyone actively searching for lake trout through the ice in cny? I used to fish for them up in the indian river lakes but would like to find some a little closer to home (Liverpool).
  10. I feel your pain, there is nothing worse than spending countless hours scouting just to have some inconsiderate a#% sit under your stand the one day you arent there and kill a nice buck. We chase them off our property every year up north and I have no idea how to make it stop.
  11. good to know, thanks MeatHunter. I love a nice pike or too for a fish fry in the winter.
  12. amazing musky! congratulations on a whopper of a fish!
  13. that was truly an awesome story! Thank you for sharing it and congratulations on a brute of an 8pt. I personally dont know if I would have been able to pass up the shot in the rain though but as they say "the best things come to those who wait".....
  14. I have seen a ton of woodcocks at my property this year too, they seem to be everywhere when you are heading out of the deer stand at night or going into the duck pond in the morning. I've never spent much time hunting them though like I do for Grouse, are they as good eating as the grouse?
  15. I have been looking for a good Ice Fishing lake in the CNY area since I moved down here a couple years ago. I have fished Cross Lake a bit in the summer with little success but it sounds like the pike fishing there really heats up in the fall. Does anyone know if these fish hang around through the winter too? I have fished pike on the St Lawerance for 20+ years and would love to broaden my horizions somewhere closer to home. Thanks
  16. Excellent report!
  17. AWESOME! can I hire you as a guide?
  18. Thats a beautie Kevin! I managed one last fall that went 10lbs 7oz and 32 inches long and thats my biggest so far in the St Law. They are out there.....
  19. I agree Kevin, we went out last saturday night and boated a couple. They dont come easy but if you put the time in it is certainly worth it.
  20. another nice batch of birds. Congrats
  21. Great batch of Geese Kevin! I'm jealous.
  22. October continues to be good but I am usually focused on hunting. Good Luck
  23. Great looking king! Won't be long and I will be chasing the steelies who are following those kings up the river. God I love this stuff! [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  24. Great action last night for walleyes on the St Lawrence River. Trolling with downriggers in 35ft water was the trick. Largest one was just shy of 8lbs! Gonna be a good ole fish fry tonight. The St Lawrence seems to get overlooked when it comes to Walleyes but believe me when I tell you......they are there. You just need to do a little searching to find them and be willing to stay out after dark.
