Haven't dipped for smelt for about 20 years now. Used to do pretty good on Cayuga. Do they still get runs there? Sent from my moto g(6) using Lake Ontario United mobile app
If you have a boat with flush mount rod holders and find them of no use except for putting a rod in while running to your spot.
I have a holder that drops in and locks in the gimbal pin, so you can use it for your dipseys or to widen a flatlining spread.
They come in two models, a basic "T" that puts your rod straight out at a 90° over the water, and a model that has a 15° upward angle and a ring to attach a safety lanyard.
Both are made of 1/8" thick aluminum tubing, are lined with a PVC tube to further protect your rod, and powder coated with epoxy paint to give you a long lasting finish.

Nice job. Just out of couriousity, are you using a jigging outfit that you would use for saltwater butterfly jigging with metered braid?
Just wondering because I have 4 for yellowfin tuna, but they would definitely be a little on the heavy side for Kings.

I'm setting up my new boat and picked up a dual planner mast and now i'm debateting on which way to go. I have noticed over the past several years alot of tree or vertical rod holders on the market. I can see where you would pick up alot of valuble gunwhale space. but is there a functional superiority over the horizonal setups or is it just the space savings ?
