  1. bleach water 30:1 ratio give it a good scrubing with soap (car wash is a good place to do it) than soak it as much as possible with the bleach water and let it air dry.
  2. Start a live post for the area and post on it others are likely to as well phones have more or less killed the radio chatter these days the vhf is mostly for emergency. Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Beat me to it I wanna know where he got them. Always good to see the kids out wish I could have gotten mine more into it maybe the grand kids will take to it Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. thats funy we spent the day in 150-180 and lost track of hits had a case of the dropseys for a while but still ended up double digits for kings and steel. early all our fish were up in the top 50 feet with the 7 color being the stud. our deep divers didnt fire till after 9 but than from there every rod was going. my arms are still tired. every lure out had fish we never even made a change. biggest of the day was 23.5
  5. If the fish is running at all or has any size we pull it good chance to change lures. If we are not in a derby the shoot rod will often be something less than 300 out either a short core or a torpedo diver or even a thumper type set up Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. that is a fantastic example of how much variability there can be between individual fish of the same species that is why knowing some of the major identifiers is so key.
  7. when the fishing is slow we like to run a chute rod of some sort seem to get more fish when we have one in the way.
  8. blue dolphin has had its days for me both up high and down deep fingerlakes and ontario. its in my "primary" spoon box
  9. Pick your days and pay attention. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United This says it all. The great lakes have claimed a lot of boats and ships of all sizes. Today's world is wonderful in that even offshore we always have access to real time info. Watch the weather and know how long it takes you to get to safe harbor error on the side of caution Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. no but if you live near braddock (roughly half way) you could get to either one of those places quickly maybe 30 mins with how i drive a little more with a calmer person especially if your near the parkway that is just a very convient drive from the river all the way to the oak and anywhare in between
  11. hughs mariana is right at the end of 21 bear creek you have to stop at the community center to get a launch pass its on knickerbocker road in the park fishing can be a little more hit or miss out that way especially for kings in early summer but browns and lakers are around most of the year hughs is also close to deep water and has lots of good current. Bear creek gets a bit of surge if there is any swell from the north. there is really no sea wall or pier for any sort of protection to the ramp.
  12. The color on that fish is fantastic sometimes not the biggest fish but the prettiest leaves a wonderful memory Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. sandy creek is a good alternative as well closer than the oak and shorter run to deep water. but to be honest with that size boat follow the wind and reports. you can get from the oak to ibay in half an hour that is a fantastic stretch to be open to and if you expand it to an hour you can get from sodus to the niagra there are always fish in that run from spring till fall that is the benefit of the smaller boat
  14. If it's on your list you gotta do it we did it twice towing the little 14 footer all the way there lots of internet research to find the areas. Used our rigger rods and drifted with blood worms caught a ton of fish and had a ton of fun I will get back there. we fished pougkeepsi area (wife has family nearby) but I wanna try Albany area next we are blessed in NY to have several world class fisheries in such easy reach Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. we are planning on it this year the dates look like they are going to work out for our boat we would also be fishing out of bald eagle
  16. nice we lauched out of ibay late 9:30 or so and started seeing bait on the screen in 30fow and by 60 there were marks around the bait so we set up and only got 3 hours in before the wind kicked up and chased us into the bay ended 2 for 7 with a pair of steelbows. steady action given how slow its been but a lot of short hits. the one and 2 colors took the most but the deep rigger also fired. fish are very scatterd but there are active pods. we took all our hits in 65 to 70 fow hopefully it sets up a bit more in the next couple weeks.

    Rock bass season

I've had them many times you would be able to tell them apart from a bluegill especially from cold water Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. there are a lot of fish in general i have had good days for catfish bullhead panfish even crappie its a good place to just wander and be willing to take whatever it gives you. can be some good shore spots for kids as well lot of different stretches and areas throughout the whole system that can produce. i have come no where near fishing all of them
  20. Looks like pleanty of separation maybe propwash is pushing the center one a bit. Try shorter leads especially if running a spin Dr or other flasher they can wander a bit. Keep the center rigger 10 feet or more above or below the others and when all elese fails just blame whoever is at the wheel for not going straight Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Do you have a pic of your transom to show the set up? Is it the same two getting tangled or all 3 how much depth difference between them when running sometime a small thing can lead to constant tangles and can be maddening to figure out I once had a mag dipsey that would spin and cross the back tangeling the other dipsey I tried everything to fix and finnaly decided that the diver was just wrong so I tossed it and got a new one fixed the problem instantly Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. there was an earlier update that talked about an AM division I dont see it on the registration page Is that going to be done this year?
  23. what kind of rod is that your using with the moocing reel? i've been looking at getting a set up for my next rigger rod
  24. Man the gut on that thing is fantastic I gotta learn to jig em at that size would be a blast Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
