pick a spot on the rod about a foot from the reel say end of the handle or some marking grab the line at the reel pull till your hand hits that mark and count. once you get that as a practiced motion you will be able to quickly count out the line. it is very consistently repeatable and can be set fairly quick

i have both in my spread I love my great lakes models they are hand me downs from my dad and are what i grew up using in the 80s and 90s the accudepths are not bad but the older GL models are better built.
-
that sounds interesting what kind of speed do you run that set up at. I usually speed up a bit when i put out a bow and LL spread. Browns I usually slow down but i dont fish them on the fingerlakes much mostly because i have never done well with them.

That is the same one I've been obsessing over I figure in 2-3 years when I'm ready for my next boat this year's model will be on the market for the right price Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I'm still a bit of time away but have been doing the same search crestliner has a new model the authority that looks like a nice option there are other options in that same style to I thinks it's smokercraft has some to look at and for a more utilitarian feel duraweld has a decent model I do love the fish masters though Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

nice bag some good size on those two I'm itching to get the boat ready but have to wait at least 2 more weeks for other reasons. I spent some time on a trib today and did some decent browns but mostly i spent the day working on the trolling gear. lake had nice color to it but looked a bit choppy this afternoon. -

Just need the tow vehicle plate number you can get the pass ahead of time as well plan for late morning this time of year that works fine and if Bear is a no go pick a direction and work your way down I bay has the bridge in but if your boat isn't to high you can get under Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

thats not true you can pay at the rec center which is on knickerbocker road and they accept credit they are open on saturdays but I dont know how early my schedule means I usually dont get out till after 8. launch fee was 5$ last year. you can also buy a season pass at the town hall. just know the plate number of your tow vehicle. its a decent launch but if there is any roll out of the north or north west it can get interesting especially early season before the dock is in. -
South bay tackle on empire has a service that I used last year took a couple weeks but I had no rush I found several others but they had a good price and convince as I was going to be in that area anyway Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

are you only looking for new? for around 100 you can usually get some pretty decent reels used. just have to keep an eye on the ad's and its a good reason to go to flea markets. Personally i like diawa for reels but on a tighter budget sometimes you take what comes along. I use several sealines from the 90s and they still perform

electric riggers vs manual +\-
ifishy replied to flybuster's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
A con is that you may not stick with favorite lures as long as it is easier to change them. for real though not cranking them up is worth it if you have the budgett especially if you have any chronic pain problems which get worse with age. same goes for pedistal mounts if you have low sides the reduction of back strain from not bending over is worth a good price on its own and as you get older the value goes up. -
I have just one season on mine so far and am really happy with what I got rabbit what exactly were you seeing? When did you do your updates? Trolling I saw fish but didn't catch but when perch fishing Everytime I marked we started catching and when the marks stopped so did the hits good way to gain confidence it does what it's supposed to Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

This is not new technology and is nowhere near as effective as advertised the concept seems good but the practical applications have not been realized getting a new gene into an entire population has never been realistic especially a gene that makes them less fit in any way this is a potential management tool but not a final solution an engineered virus is a better erradication tool but with its own risks Sent from my XT1080 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
