  1. Are the bass on their beds yet or are they prespawn still? Just wondering if they are running late this year because of the winter.
  2. The people in Wayne County's Office of Tourism are saying there is confusion over this. But you can take a picture. It may be they just don't want people fishing for surgeons in the Genesee River and taking photos of them. I think it needs to be clarified. Also bass season is open, catch and release. I believe the rule states closed season.
  3. Oneida or Erie although they are not Finger Lakes. They have some of the best walleye fishing in the nation. You could try Honeoye, Otisco, or Conesus if you really want finger lakes.
  4. If you are talking without a motor is states this on the website: A non-mechanically propelled vessel must be less than 24 feet in length. Do not transport or introduce any aquatic plants or animals into the water. Not that people launch sailboats, but can you?
  5. Actually the restriction on the DEC website is: Boats are allowed, but must be less than 17 feet in length, and any motors must be 10 h.p. or less. Do not transport or introduce any aquatic plants or animals into the water. Boats may not exceed 17 feet in length and motors may not exceed 10 h.p. Do not transport or introduce any aquatic plants or animals into the water. See Hemlock-Canadice State Forest for further details. Does this mean if you go by the second statement that a 17 foot boat is legal? You can make the argument as long as it does "not exceed 17 feet in length ". You can make the argument but then with a 10 hp motor why would you have a 17 footer?
  6. I know a guy who was sick last November, but he updated his face book account. When he went back to work they tried to nail him for going fishing. They asked him " What are these pictures?", In which he responded "Those are pictures of me holding a fish." They responded "so you went fishing when you called in ill?" He then said "Look at the green leaves on the trees. Do you see any leaves on the trees outside?"
  7. Last fall Canadice's water level was very low. Is there water in the south end or is it one big mud flat?
  8. The lack of any mud lines may have been a factor.
  9. At what temperature is water at its densest? Just wondering because at that temperature the mph may go up a little.
  10. When she turns 40 you can trade her in for two 20's.
  11. If you have a $200 lawnmower I would use it in that. Anything else its at your own risk.
  12. Top table fare is Walleye!!!
  13. They dredged the channel last weekend. I'm not sure about the docks but the South end ramps you should be very careful on. The low water and the hole to hang up your trailer is a dangerous combo.
  14. No employer is ever going to ask about if a kid took these tests because these tests are only given out in grades 3-8. They are not Regents Exams and have nothing to do with high school graduation. What these tests do is take up 6 to 7 days of instructional time to take these tests. The tests are part of the Common Core, but each state has there own tests. Its like comparing apples and oranges between the states. If you want to compare how college bound students are doing between the states, there already is two different tests. They are the SATs and the ACTs. This is one of the first times that Cuomo has had an open revolt where he might actually have to change his policy. If he does or if he does not, it will be interesting to see how this will all play out.
  15. Saturday April 18th they had two cranes dredging the channel. Not sure if they will still be there on Sunday.
  16. For all of you hunters or any other people who do not like Governor Cuomo, Opt your kids out of State testing. This is one of the first challenges that actually has a lot of steam to make the governor look like a fool. Also the tests do not count for anything. If a student fails it, it does not effect there grades or advancement to the next grade. The tests are all about Obama's Race to the Top money and the private company that makes a fortune creating these tests with our tax money. Math tests are next week.
  17. Is there any ice left in Port Bay? Is the road to the launch by the lake open? The ramp there is in deep water where the South end is shallow.
  18. Does Sodus have any ice left in the bay?
  19. I can get under the bridge with my small boat (16 footer without a windshield) and someone else did it yesterday, Someone else also launched out of Bear Creek yesterday.
  20. Sodus on the south side of the point had 19 inches of solid ice today. The ice is not going anywhere fast. In fact I bet I can get another 2 weeks of ice fishing in this year. Safe ice should last until the 2nd week of April this year in the major bays along Lake Ontario. Right in time where tip-ups are no longer allowed. Now I think last winter it was colder longer, but the month of February this year was the coldest on record. March did not really warm us up at all.
  21. I was coming back from icefishing in Sodus (19 inches of solid ice). Someone had launched out of Bear Creek in the Town of Ontario and someone else had launched at Irondequoit Bay (must have a boat that can go under the bridge). The lake was like glass.
  22. I am thinking of getting an echomap 93sv. They come preloaded with Garmin's LakeVu maps. Are the Navionics that much better than the LakeVu to shell out the money when they come out? Also I've read about a Navionics disclaimer about Garmin can update their software and then they will not work. I'm not knocking Navionics. I just don't know if they are better than LakeVu or if I would get burned with compatibility issues later on.
  23. Floyd King wrote an article on how most of the prime hunting spots are now posted. Well he owned some land and he also posted it. I know someone who took down the posted sign and mailed it to him with the article along with a note with some choice words.
  24. The Rocheaster Democrat and Chronicle had an article today on ice fishing. At the bottom of the article is a picture of a pile of fish with the caption "Fish caught by ice fishermen sit on top of snow in Greece on Saturday, January 24, 2015". The problem is the picture shows four perch and one largemouth bass. You think they would know the bass is out of season.
  25. Is certified bait from a bait shop still only good for one week?
