  1. Muskies lay right next to Walleye in the Niagara River waiting for bait fish in ambush, walleye gets the Bait first most of the time.Under water footage has recorded this, the walleye is not eaten by the muskie either.
  2. Josh Kane caught a fat 41" muskie from the Lower River as well.
  3. Just when you think you know better not to go today with barometer reaching 30:70, the muskies prove you wrong again.John Miller caught a Fat 49 1/2" muskie fishing the Lower Niagara River in the John Henning Memorial Tournament run by the NMA today!
  4. We got to the river and checked the barometric pressure when getting ready, wow! 30:64 and raising, we decided to skip today and I will replace the broken skipping winch on my boat trailer.Hi pressure with a Cold Front has always been a lure wash for me.Tough looking at the sun and flat water, but I never do good fishing these type conditions.I will check with others to see how they did today and post later.
  5. This morning the water temp is up another half a degree to 42.5 degrees.Back out trolling the 10 to 14 ft of water, hopefully better action then yesterday when the barometer was rising at 30:37!
  6. Thun,The Legend Plows don't work to well in 10 ft of water, would be to close to the boat in clear shallow water.Today my boat went zippo along with 5 other boats, 1 boat caught a small muskie.Today the water was gin clear and 41.8 degrees,2 degrees warmer then yesterday.
  7. Getting a late start today, going out at noon till 8 pm, back to the west river to do more shallow water trolling in 10 to 12 ft of water.
  8. Today the musky gods were good to us! 48",46" & 40" muskies trolling in 10 ft of water at 1.50 mph with Hi-Fin Trophy Diver Jtd 9" in Pearl White with Hot Pink Belly, water temp was 38.8 degrees! Had to quit at 4 pm to go to E.L.E.C.B.A. meeting in Dunkirk!
  9. Very Nice Muskie! Congrats!
  10. Back out on the West River tomorrow for a full day of trolling the shallows at slow speeds!River looks flat and about 3 ft of visibility.Could be a good day being close to the full moon!
  11. Well I went to Burlington Harbor this morning and it turned out to be only some emerald shiners at 46 degree water at opening to Steel Mill channel, no bigger hooks at all.I did not go back into the channel because of the authorized vessels only signs, not sure what would happen being a U.S. vessel, but did not want to find out.So out of the house at 4 am, spent longer time at the border getting checked over then it took to drive there.Well I can now say I did go take a look see, was a long shot and did not look promising at all.Hard to breath the air there between steel mill and sewer plant aroma!
  12. Oldman, Next week has some days in the upper 40's and light winds!
  13. I keep thinking about Burlington Harbor and the warm water discharge at the Steel Mill and the possibility of Gizzard Shad and feeding Muskies. If the winds go West and hard and I can't get out here, that corner of Burlington Harbor should be calm.
  14. Well we got to the launch and the Wind kicked up over 25 mph with very dark looking sky coming our way and the water was already turning brown. So we turned around and went back home.Maybe tomorrow will have good enough conditions to get out.
  15. Back on the water with clients at 2 pm today until 10 pm tonight.Water surface temperature in the West River is now 40.1 degrees.I will start trolling in the 10 ft water areas of humps & ridges.I will give a report after tonight.
  16. Just a reminder that the NY portion of Lake Erie and Upper Niagara River are now Closed for Muskies! The Canadian Waters of Lake Erie and the Upper Niagara River are still Open until December 15th.The Lower Niagara River is Open on both sides until December 15th.
  17. Last night while at the Niagara Musky Association Christmas Party I got a text message from a Canadian friend,48"er at 6:50 pm and a 49" muskie at 7:21 pm, where are you? The night bite is back on in 10 to 13 ft of water trolling smaller crankbaits like Depthraiders, Tuff Shad and Wiley Jtd 5 1/2" at 2.0 mph.
  18. No more hits, had to quit at 10 am for doctors appointment and pack food drum to ship to Guyana S.A..
  19. Down at Black Creek this morning where the west river makes a turn before heading toward Navy Island and the Falls. So far we have caught a 38" male muskie on a Hi-Fin Trophy Diver jtd 9" in Glitter Shad color trolled up stream at 1.6 mph.Water temp is 39.6 degrees in river flow and 37.2 at Creek flow.WNW wind is coming off shore so the river current is not pushed into rolling waves, but if the winds go above 15 mph I will need to head back.Sun makes it feel warmer then 36 degrees. The big girl's have been closed mouth since the big snow storm, they have to start feeding again soon!
  20. After the Bill's game & win, I called long time friend Tommy Reinhardt to meet me at Sheridan Drive Launch at 6 pm to head to the Buffalo Harbor to finish out the NY Musky Season. We got to Sheridan at 5:30 pm and the waves were rolling hard at the dock, so we drove to the Small Boat Harbor and launched. We started in the North Gap, went up the Buffalo River, trolled to the Center Gap and on to the South Gap and in and out of the Coke Channel, Zippo! We did mark some big hooks and lots of bait fish & walleye but no hits.Back to the west river to finish up the 15 days of December there in Canadian waters.
  21. I broke from tradition and returned back to Dunkirk Harbor this morning.Water temp is 46 degrees at the outflow and solid bait fish and smaller hooks.Went back here because of the water temp being 46 degrees, I had to just find out if the muskies feed here.So far as of 8:53 am,2 hours in, nothing happening.I will give it till noon if nothing happens I will head home for the Bill's game. The Buffalo Harbor yesterday was only 38 degrees and 1 ft of visibility and no bigger hooks, so I had nothing to loose by returning here.Still have 15 days of the Canadian waters of Lake Erie & Upper Niagara River to go!
  22. Mscheda, Lake water temp is 50 degrees out by Wind Mill Point!
  23. To keep with tradition I will be in the Buffalo Harbor tomorrow with my radio on listening to the Bill's game!
  24. Fishsevern, Your 37"er is the only fish I heard about being caught today!
  25. There are 5 boats in the Buffalo Harbor today, about 1 ft visibility brown water. Now 40 degrees, but still only small pods of bait fish & walleye hooks I have been told, no muskies caught as of 1 pm.Waters on the Canadian side is clearing up,3 to 5 ft visibility above the Roundhouse before Buffalo River brown water flows in.
