  1. I always catch bigger fish using gold colored crankbaits in stained brown water, up size from Legend Perchbaits 9" to Legend Plows 13" in Gold Sucker color. Also the darker brown the water is there will be more silt in the water the deeper you go, so fish the top 10 ft, on Plows shallow eye with 30 ft on line out.You will need to slow way down to 2.0 mph, give them a slow lazy dazy wondering lure look.
  2. Look for trapped clear water areas, like coke channel, union canal, Peir Restaurant slip, Inside the SBH,Buffalo river, General Mills Canal and Black Rock Lauch channel just above the Lauch! Also at Dunkirk Power Plant 12 ft channel from out flow to the lake!
  3. I got back up at 3 am and headed to the Buffalo Harbor. The Harbor is still void of just about anything that swims. At 5:25 am I caught a 41 " muskie up the Buffalo River near start of the General Mills Canal. The Buffalo River was the only place I marked bait fish,48.5 degree water temp, Buffalo Harbor was 47.3 degrees.Quit at 8:10 am heavy snow coming down.
  4. We only managed one 35" muskie tonight.By 10 pm the snow came down hard enough you could not see anything from a distance of 200 ft.We marked lots of bait fish and big hooks but no other hits.We quit just after 10 pm and I went home and covered the boat and put in a heater to melt the snow.
  5. RayJ, We have to hope after three days of 35 mph SW winds with gusts to 45 mph and 11 ft waves starting tomorrow night, that the dark brown water clears up enough by Monday.
  6. Headed out at 5 pm,Reel Magic to keep lines from freezing, chap stick for the rod eyes, earmuffs with hand warmers to keep reel drag washers from freezing and hand warmer 8 pocket vest to keep me warm.Tommy gets the dust pan to shovel snow in early am.
  7. We will hide behind the slag pile in the south gap or up the coke channel and watch the 9 ft waves roll over the Long Wall!
  8. Slobs & Snow Shovels Tonight! Out into tonight's snow for more night time muskie action!
  9. Chad, I will have to get you to walk me through the rotation fix next time we cross paths, thanks!
  10. My boat was not the only boat who had a good day/night yesterday.John Pensyl had 7 muskies to 46" and Tommy caught a fat 47"er at 9:30 pm last night.
  11. Chad, Can you rotate the one pix for me,thanks!
  12. Very good night,35",35",36 1/2",36 1/2",38" & Nice 48" Muskies!
  13. Very good night,35",35",36 1/2",36 1/2",38" & Nice 48" Muskies!
  14. Tuesday will get nasty,28 mph substained SW winds with gusts to 35 mph, waves to 9 ft, brown water, topped off with 4 to 8 inches of lake effect snow. Will loose Tuesday & Wednesday for fishing for sure.
  15. Water now 48.3 degrees for the Upper Niagara River. The next 5 days with colder weather and lake effect snow should get Lake Erie down to 46 degrees, at that point the Buffalo Harbor should end up warmer around 47 degrees and emerald shiner schools will move in thick bringing in walleye, perch, gizzard Shad and big muskies!
  16. Gave the west river a try from 1 pm to 6:30 pm, no hits.Plenty of big hooks but all on the bottom, water clarity only about 5 ft, close to green tint.Back out for full day into the night tomorrow.
  17. Today the water clarity of the Upper Niagara River is only about 2 to 3 ft from yesterday's high winds stirring things up out in Lake Erie.So I will pass on today and hope for green tint water tomorrow. Water temp now 49 degrees in the River and 48.6 in Harbor, so soon the Harbor will end up warmer then Lake Erie and the Bait Fish and following muskies will show.
  18. Welcome to LOU Family of Fishermen!
  19. Oldman,If the winds were the same at Chautauqua as they were at the Buffalo Harbor, you had a cold day casting!
  20. I took another trip to the Buffalo Harbor today for a couple hours.Still nothing much there and water temp is still lower then Lake Erie.I took a troll up the Buffalo River , marked a little bit of bait fish and on the 2nd oasis caught a 38" muskie.Quit by 4:30 pm had to go to the Casino for my wife's invited birthday party.
  21. I trolled the east river today, did not mark much of anything, went zippo.Last night Tommy caught a nice 47" muskie in Canadian waters trolling.Today John & Cullen caught 7 of 13 hookups, biggest 44" jigging Tubes in the same Canadian waters. My clients the last two days only had NY fishing licenses and only wanted to fish daytime.I need to get back on the night program!
  22. Today the SBH surface water temp was 48.7 degrees and Lake Erie outside the walls was 51.2 degrees, The SBH is a Dead Sea, No Bait Fish or Hooks! Everything went out to deep water to warmer water temps.
  23. Buffalo Harbor was Void of Bait Fish today and no Hooks either! South Gap was 48.7 degrees and North Gap was 49.1 degrees, but Lake Erie was 51.5 degrees, everything blew out into Lake Erie to warmer waters in the depths.Managed a 33" up the Buffalo River.Back in Canadian waters of the Niagara River John Pensyl caught a fat 45.5" Muskie jigging Tubes and a smaller low 30" fish.Night still seems to be the best option.
  24. Winds never slowed yesterday afternoon so I never got out.Today I put away lawn furniture and tuned snow blower & Honda Generator getting ready for cold weather coming soon.Today one boat had a low 40 "muskie jigging Tubes and after dark had two low 40 " muskies trolling as of 7 pm.Back to the Buffalo Harbor tomorrow morning.Surface water temp now 51.2 degrees, visibility 6 to 7 ft.
  25. Right in the middle of the duck migration route!
