  1. 28 mph wind gusts, then thunder & heavy rain kept us off the river last night. Will get back on the water tonight until 2 am.
  2. Guys, One of our own Joe Jemiolo needs our prayers.Joe has been fighting brain cancer, had surgery and was headed for chemo & radiation treatments on Monday.Today he fell down the stairs at his home and broke his hip.Adding to his condition of a bad heart as well.Joe needs our Prayers! Those who do not know Joe, he has been on the front lines fighting for our conservation rights and rules for a decade.Joe also started the Kids Lifetime NY State Sportsmen License Program in Erie and Chautauqua Counties! Life is just not fair at times!
  3. If the thunder & heavy rains hold out we will be back out on the Upper Niagara River again tonight,we will work the Beaver Island Beach Reef to start!
  4. That video piece is Great!
  5. We trolled around Navy Island, Boyers Creek & Black Creek only to look at tight lipped muskies directly on boddom.Light fog was moving in so we moved back up river by Frenchmen's Creek closer to the launch. At 00:35 we finally caught a 39" muskie on a Hi-Fin Trophy Diver Jtd in Capt Larry Gold.John Pensyl caught a fat 45" muskie last night as well.
  6. I will try to make a report here each day how trip goes.We may not have Internet being in the truck camper up some logging roads over Mtns down in valleys.Other times we will be jet boating up river away from civilization & roads up the Suattle River from the Skagit River north of Darington.
  7. Troutmaster1, Thanks! We also plan to fish the Hoh, Qweets, Sol Duc, & Humptulips Rivers as well, out on the Olympic Penicila!
  8. This goes up for public discussion in Albany, NY on Sept 16th, so if there is no support to impose a Non - Resident Charter License Fee they will only go with the increase to as high as $500 to the Non - Resident Guides Licenses that only cover Inland Waters.Leaving us where we are now with only USCG for enforcement of Great Lakes Charter Captians.Having a NY State Non - Resident Charter License Fee would make those boats fall under NY State Law Enforcement as well!
  9. The trouble is that only the USCG can enforce Great Lakes Charters because Great Lakes waters are Federal.By creating a NY State Non Resident Charter License in can then be regulated by the NSDEC Officers , State Police , Sheriff and Local Police being a state law!
  10. See we have a much bigger problem on the Upper & Lower Niagara River, any Canadian can just say they are a guide and they do not need the safety equipment or insurance and they fish N.Y. waters competing with you at $150 charters while your trying to get $400. Then every walleye Tourney on Lake Erie in NY Waters there are 5 to 7 Ohio Charter Boats working fishing with clients in those tournaments.Chautauqua Lake now has more out of state guides working there then local.Without a Non Resident License fee those caught guiding without a license will only get a warning, with the Non Resident Charter Captian License in effect they could be fined as much as $10,000.00 for working without a license. They could no longer advertise chartering in NY State if they do not have the Non Resident Charter License.
  11. The King's finally get going when I'm about to leave the state on vacation. What am I complaining for, headed to the Columbia River where there are 1.6 million Kings expected.I hope to get at least one over 40 lbs. Also about 900 thousand Coho expected to enter the Columbia as well.I have 3 weeks to catch as many as I can!Maybe when I return October 1st the King's will be stacked up close to shore!
  12. We will try trolling the Black Creek area again tonight.Report coming later tonight.
  13. The state of Michigan also has a Charter Sport Trolling License for Non Residents for $80.Seems like we are the only state where Non Resident Charter Captians can operate for Free!If we get this Non Resident Charter Fishing License passed it may also mean Ontario Canadian Guides may have to purchase this license to operate in NY State border waters as well!
  14. The 90 ft of water off the 1st hill near Purina tower gave up 25 walleye to one boat!
  15. Monday night Tommy Reinhardt called me at around 10:30 pm right before the wind & rain, Carl had just caught a 43" fat muskie.Tommy caught a 36"er just before the torrential rain & wind and the rolling waves at the dock when they returned.
  16. All NY State Charter Captians, this thread will be looked at by the NSDEC, say something in support if you want to level the charter playing field!
  17. For a Non Resident Charter Captian to operate on Lake Michigan they can get a Free Permit if the state they live in does not charge a Illinois Charter Captian to operate there, but if a Non Resident Charter Fee is in place the Charter from that state must pay a Fee Equal to what is charged there to work in Illinois Great Lakes Waters.Just about every state around us on the Great Lakes charges Non Residents for a Charter Fishing Permit.
  18. We have the Erie County Fishery Advisory Board,Erie County Federation Of Sportsmens Clubs,Chautauqua County Federation Of Sportsmens Clubs,Chautauqua County Fishery Advisory Board,Eastern Lake Erie Charter Boat Association all onboard as supporting Non-Resident Charter Captian Fee to work in NY State Great Lakes Waters. We need other Federations,Fishery Advisory Boards,Clubs etc.. to join inthis support to get the NSDEC to add Non-Resident Charter Captians to the New Legislation to charge Non-Resident Guides up to $500.Where does Lake Ontario Charter Boat Association stand on this issue? Capt Larry D Jones Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A. E.C.F.A.B. E.C.F.S.C. Director NMA Director NY M.I. Chapter 69 Reg. Rep. 716-432-0198
  19. Still lots of floating weeds.Last night we only managed one 40" muskie! A couple days ago we only caught one muskie as well a 36"er,four bass over 5 lbs and a 28" walleye!
  20. With the added new hefty fines they may do more sting operations by actually booking trips with scabs, money passing hands!
  21. All NY Licensed Charter Captians should comment on this Legislation not going far enough as far as Non Resident Charter Captians being able to work in NY State Great Lakes Waters for Free! The New Legislation should include a Non Resident Charter Captian License to work in NY State Great Lakes Waters! Pa charges Non-Residents $400 to charter on Lake Erie.I have notice a few more Ohio Charter Boats working the NY waters of Lake Erie this year, they passed by Pa because of the $400 License Fee! Pa & Ohio are protecting their waters for their local Captians with these Non-Resident Guide/Charter Fees! Capt Larry D. Jones Pres. E.L.E.C.B.A.
