How much have you paid per pound for your Salmon
mostlymuskies replied to Patriot's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Every year I travel out to Washington State for two weeks of King fishing on the Columbia River, between airfare, fuel for my brothers truck, boat, fishing license, tackle, bait, motel and chips for the smoker and vacuum seal bags, it is about $3000 for two weeks. But lots of Kings over 25 lbs, fresh from the ocean, coho, pinks, sockeye and steelhead!About $15 per lb if we add up all the fish combined! -

Chautauqua Lake they need to quit cutting all the weeds in the lake, area's that have no boat docks, beach area's or even cottages should not be cut, leaving some fish habitat.Other areas can be cut in checker board leaving paths for boats to travel through, but square patches of weeds for the fish. The Hatchery needs to start raising muskie yearlings to 12 to 13 inches, raise less fish but stock bigger fish that survive better.Spawning habitat is a difficult problem on Chautauqua due to so much sitting around the edges of the lake, I believe the eggs drop into the silt and rot.Maybe areas of gravel can be placed in key spots then replant good weeds from the lake on those spots to build new spawning habitat.I hear different numbers all the time on what actual natural reproduction happens on Chautauqua Lake, some say 25 percent, others say less then 10 percent.Very hard to tell with large numbers of 3 1/2 inch muskie fingerings being dumped in every year without a clipped fin as the fed , pond reared fingerings have each year. Was the fish with no fins clipped a natural reproduction or one of the ones from smaller extra Hatchery fingerings dumped in?

Pradco finally straightened out what they have to give me in walleye nets.I will get five 22 X 28 with 4ft + 3ft handles.2 are sold and 3 are available.Pradco can't stay on top of this because all vendor's are trying to get what is left of the nets, as your placing an order some else is placing an order just ahead of you and hits the computer key just before you and you think your getting the order, the seconds earlier person gets it.So here is what's left of the Nets to sell: Two (2) Walleye Nets treated 22x28 w/4'+3' handles $75 each, regular retail is $129.95(3 of 5 sold) Two (2) Salmon Nets treated 30 X 42 w/6'+ 3' handles $80 each, regular retail is $139.95(11 of 15 sold) Eight ( Musky Pen Fin Saver treated 34x40 w/4' handle $90 each, regular retail is $154.95(6 of 15 sold)

Pradco seems to not know what they have in stock. The Salmon & Musky Nets were in stock and will ship this week. The walleye Nets they keep changing sizes on me, now they say the 28 X 32 are all gone, but they may be able to piece together 15 22 X 28 with 4ft + 3ft handles.I will know later today, so hold off sending checks for walleye nets for now, the other nets I will definitely have.
