Trolling speeds that work for you with what lure was best
mostlymuskies replied to Xxx's topic in Walleye
Sub-Troll Speed added to Surface Speed added to GPS Speed:Divided by 3 equals Lure Speed.Adjust speeds going with or agianst wind and bottom currents to get same Lure Speed after dividing the three speeds by 3 and the lure action will be close to the same as the other direction. Trolling speeds that work for you with what lure was best

Darkstar, Not only down speed from my Fishhawk at lure depth is important, but also surface speed & speed over bottom (gps). Sent from my SCH-I200 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
This summer on Chautauqua Lake we caught a lot of walleyes while trolling for muskies, at 3.8 mph on Wiley 5 1/2" jtd crankbaits. Most of the eyes are 27 to 30".We usually do not catch walleyes in the Buffalo Harbor until the water cools down below 45 degrees and we are trolling 14" Legend Plows at 2.0 mph.Walleye & Bass will eat 9 to 11" muskie fingerlings when they are stocked. Upper niagara or Lake Erie outer harbor
mostlymuskies replied to eviltroll's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Still a little early for the Buffalo Harbor, need water temp in the low 50's.The Niagara River is 63 degrees and fish are active when you can keep your lure clean long enough, lots of floating grass.Drifting with the current dragging Tubes is the best option with all the floating weeds. I really believe that most muskies on Chautauqua Lake when they reach 50", if they get there, are near the end of their life span because of how warm the water gets durring the summer months.I have caught and seen caught 50" muskies at Chautauqua Lake and personally I h ave caught 47" to 48" muskies there that had more girth then the 50" fish.I believe 40 lb muskie from Chautauqua Lake are very rare, but not impossible, I have never seen one.I believe Dr.Dave's 51"er, that was very fat was 38 lbs.I don't know what Chad's 51 3/4" Fattie weighed. The 49" fattie caught by Frank Alcorn and the 42"er caught by Bill Gliss were from 32ft or deeper water trolling. From Thursday up to Saturday's Tourney it was slow fishing! Sent from my SCH-I200 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

There have been some very good catches of walleye the past two days close to the PA line in 90 to 95 ft of water. One boat caught 15, another 9 walleyes.First day was all Renosky's , the 2nd day was worm harnesses, down 50 ft. Sent from my SCH-I200 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Niagara River Musky Guide Recommendations?
mostlymuskies replied to Jammer's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
I have a limited number of dates left for the Buffalo Harbor for Nov this year and will take bookings for 2014 November thru Dec 31st of 2013 only because of Social Security earning limits that I can not add income to for 2014. www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm 716-432-0198 Capt Larry D Jones Sent from my SCH-I200 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

We did not fare well out of Barcelona Harbor on Monday morning.Tons of silver bass(amish trout) and the amish we had out kept them.Walleye action was slow so we moved into 20ft of water off Chautauqua Creek looking for brown trout. They caught 1 brown and 15 smallmouth bass to fill their buckets.Waves began laying down as we went in at noon. Sent from my SCH-I200 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Short vs long rods
mostlymuskies replied to Goatboy's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
My Tracker Targa 2000 is 98" wide, I use 6'-2" St. Croix Avid Jerkbait Rods for the inside dipsey's and St.Croix 7' med-hvy Premier Muskie Rods for the outside dipsey's.They all have ABU Record 60 reels spooled with 80 lb PowerPro and work fine.I use 10ft leaders, but my net has a 10ft handle.I never run riggers only 5 & 6 color leadcore lines with added gibbs weights when needed off the big boards and dipsey's.I spend most of my time on Lake Erie for walleye. But have done just as well off the Niagara Bar for kings running 4 board leadcore lines with extra gibbs weights and 4 dipseys all with NK 28 spoons or JPugs. My muskie rods are my salmon rods and work fine. Bait Fish Fund Meat Raffle
mostlymuskies replied to mostlymuskies's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
We decided instead of me pulling the winning tickets that I would take the ticket stubs to the ECFAB meeting next week and have the members there draw the winners. It will be a couple weeks before Tuscany's has the meat order available for pick up by the winners.
