Joe,I got checked by the Sheriff Zodiac crew today in the Buffalo Harbor. Capt Larry -
Adam,I wish you luck on the Larry. I'm going to try to go up with Mike Dulakis in early December.
-
Adam,Nice Fish! Are you going to the Larry in November?

Ivan,I know you personaly,I know you were not out to bash Old Man,only trying to help.It was most likely locked to keep the thread from heading toward a bashing direction. We here in NY have a big task ahead of us to educate most of the fishermen in the state on safe handling practices of Muskies. There are many guys fishing muskies in NY state that have never been part of a catch & release / safe handling, taught through club enviroment. Thanks for your prospective on 2012 Chautauqua Season. You are right 2011 was half the catch of 2010 season for me.Both 2011 & 2012 there were many 90 degree days and very high water surface temps, above normal algae bloom and lots of high pressure systems flowing through.Hopefully 2013 turns around to be a very good year, but then again November this year may turnout to be very good as well.

Ivan,It must be really tough fishing if You and your Dad only caught 2 muskies in 15 hours. You two are usually very successful with catch numbers there. With the strong gale force winds about to turn Lake Erie dark brown,I thaught about making a trip to Chautauqua Lake on Friday, maybe not now with fishing being so slow.I don't know how your overall season at Chautauqua Lake was this year, but mine was 1/3 fish caught then last year! Not many over 40" either. Capt. Larry

Our New NY Muskies Inc Chapter 69 will educate everyone on proper handling of Muskies in the near future. One thing I do know about Old Man he does care about Muskies,he has donated more funds to purchase fathead minnows for Prendergast Hatchery through the Chautauqua Bait Fish Fund then any one individual. Old Man for Christmas I'm going to give you a Beckman Magnum Fin Saver Net w/6ft Handle so you have a bigger net, then you can leave the next big muskie in the net in the water until you clear the lure and then get the camera ready for a quick out of water picture.I'll deliver it to the November Chapter 69 Meeting, sorry I can't get it your way now! Very Nice Muskie by the way! Capt. Larry

As we get closer to the Oct 30th NY Muskies Inc Chapter 69 Meeting we also need to take into consideration Hurricane Sandy weather conditions. There could be very windy weather conditions, power outages and NY freeway closures. The Chapter Board needs to post here in a timely manner if the meeting is to be canceled. We can't place people in harms way to come to the meeting. [ Post made via Android ]

Musky - Underwater Video
mostlymuskies replied to TheFishFinders.TV's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Wow! Petawawa river.I fished the section through the Petawawa Canadian Armforces Base back in the late 80's.I use to go up and interact with the Canadian Airborne Regiment teaching C4 shape charges and orienting coarse. While there we got to drift the Petawawa river and I brought along a rod & reel, I caught lots of big northern pike. & walleye, did not have any idea muskies were present. Most of the river use to be off limits because it flowed through the Canadian Armforces Base. [ Post made via Android ] -

Bob, Mostlymuskies on VHF Channel 9 to comunicate,I'll be in the harbor Sunday. -
This morning I was made aware of a problem at the NFTA Small Boat Harbor, seems that two different boats came running into the SBH at full wide open throttle. This caused all the docks to start rolling and upset the workers trying to break down those docks for winter storage on land. They were so upset they quit work and walked off the job and a lot of words were passed between them and Chris who manages the NFTA Small Boat Harbor. So if this happens agian the SBH will be closed for the season! Everyone we need to slowdown to the no wake speed way before entering the walls of the SBH,back where the water turns shallow coming off the main harbor where the boueys normaly are.Tell everyone you see when launching there as well,if we can't refrain from high speed to and from the dock within the SBH,we will loose access there!

Bob,What happened on the Larry? [ Post made via Android ] -
Chautauqua Tourney despite the cold front 35 mph gust day and only 25 fishermen participating 10 muskies were caught, almost all in a 35 minute bite window around 9:45 am. 1st Place James Dennison 47" (9:37 am) 2nd Place Mark Anderson 42"(9:45 am) 3rd Place Joe Dolan 42" (9:58 am) 4th Place Terri Linamen 41" (10:02 am) 5th Place Bryan Farmer 41" (11:15 am) 5 other muskies from 38" to 33" Not bad 10 muskies out of 25 fishermen in a major cold front and harsh conditions.
