  11. Happy Birthday Chad! Your less then half my age--that's going to be a lot of boat gas to burn!
  12. Ronix, Try trolling those bright colored Cisco crankbaits at 3.0 mph in the 20 to 22 ft flow up on the north end.Should be tigers setup there by now. Capt. Larry
  13. I have not fished Black Lake in years, but use to get a lot of nice northern pike tossing Johnson Silver Minnow Spoons in the narrows at causeway.Walleye action in the spring always use to be best at the outflow below the dam on the Oswegatchie River. Capt. Larry
  14. The water temps around Carleton Island are most likely still on the cool side, from nearby bouey's I seen 45 degrees.Bayfield Bay is shallow and is much warmer. You also have an east wind working again'st you.Maybe you need to try shallow flats trolling back in French Creek Bay by Clayton,NY,13s Rapala's in black & silver, long lined at night. The walleye action here at the head of the Niagara River in Lake Erie is slow as well with the cooler then normal water temps,46 degrees here. Capt. Larry
  15. Dennis Daniels is the one!
  16. Here we go now with Hydrokinetic Turbines being purposed for Lower Niagara River near Lewiston,NY. http://netmail.verizon.com/netmail/driv ... &rn=647274
  17. Today I took my daughter Christine out for a troll on the Erie Canal from North Tonawanda to Tonawanda Creek. We were trolling chartruse & silver #13 Rapala's on Lead Core 60 ft back,we caught 5 small hamerhandle northern pike. The canal is loaded with emerald shinners, jumpimg out of the vway of the boat along the way.Water was a little on the brown side but was 66.5 degrees.Off to Cuba Lake in the morning. Capt. Larry
  18. Yes, any season change takes years to implement in NY State. If we keep getting warm weather in the upper 60's to low 70's the spawn will be over and the fish will be in post spawn lockjaw or already be gone far out into Lake Erie depths by June 18th. Capt. Larry
  19. Mike,Thanks for your two Entry Fees! Send me an email at [email protected] and I can give you some pointers on where to start on Chautauqua Lake on June 25th. Capt. Larry
  20. Well all I heard last year from every charter client and friend from PA how NY State can keep their Non-Res. Fishing License at $70! Then I stopped at Walmart in Erie,PA this past Saturday to purchase a Non-Res. PA Fishing License and also had to get a Lake Erie Permit and Salmon & Trout Endorsement,Total $82.00! Wow! costs less to be a Non Resident Fishing In NY! Capt. Larry
  21. I'm definately not professing to be the King of anything.I'm only saying what I think should be said, the fishery is almost totaly gone and needs everyone's help to try to get it to turn around. There were no young of the year muskies found in the Harbor the last three summer shocking studies by the NY DEC.The habitat is not good anymore to substain a good fishery, new habitat is being built but maybe to late. They will not do a stocking program because of VHS. So the only chance the Buffalo Harbor has to rebound is through people carring enough to allow the fish to have a good spawn in the spring. So with the Harbor in this fragile state the fishery doesn't need someone saying this could be a banner year to catch the big girls because the water looks to be colder this year.So you do what you think is right, you do have the right to go there, maybe your kids and others kids will not in the future if the pressure stays on durring the spawning period. Capt. Larry D. Jones
  22. If you can not fish one of the Chautauqua Tourneys to help raise funds for the Bait Fish Fund please consider using the Donation Link above. Everyone can afford $25 to help our NY State Muskie Stocking Program! Thanks, Capt. Larry
  23. Ok,we got to 75 Tourney Entrants then it seems to have slowed right down. We need everyone that has signed up for the Chautauqua Tourney to help us out and see if they can get someone to join us.Ask a friend, tell people you meet fishing about the Tourney, add another person for the Tourney to your boat for the day.The hatchery has a good start this year collecting eggs for the muskie program, together we can make a big difference in maintaining and making NY States Muskie Fisheries World Class! Please copy the attached Tourney Flyer and hand it out or post it all over! Thanks, Capt. Larry
  24. Why would you want to make a post like this talking about the Buffalo Harbor that is in a fragile state? 3/4 of the big muskies died from old age, another large number died from VHS,some were carried away as trohpies and there has not been a good year class to follow the loss.So most of us leave the Buffalo Harbor alone for the opener and let what small number of big girl's that are left get uninteruped spawing time.Posts telling everyone that the conditions are right this year for getting the big girl's is not needed.I run a charter fishing service, you don't see me going to the harbor in the spring because I care about the fishery! Most likely the fish will be done spawning and be gone by June 18th,if not let them spawn, let the fishery have a chance to come back. Capt. Larry D. Jones
  25. I went to Presque Isle Bay on Lake Erie, not a rip, water temps up to 55 degrees in the shallows, spawn must be on. Capt. Larry
