A few weeks ago I flew into Dallas ,Texas and drove west on I-20 toward Odessa, Texas.Every where that there was any rise in the ground were wind turbines.I bet I passed over 5000 of them, the wind was blowing hard, only 50% of those wind turbines were turning. While in Odessa I asked a local oil worker about all those wind turbines and why most of them were not working. His answer was oil wells in different fields are on timers to pump,so if there is no electric needed to get the pump started the wind turbines do not need to operate either. He went on to say that the power output was so unreliable with only 29% performance out of 100% possible output that instead of making power for the power grid system a lot of the wind turbines were now being used to take place of power needed to kick start oil pumps in oil fields. They went green to help out big oil! Zach, Those painted lures look great.Off to setup the venue for the Musky Road Rules Buffalo. The Seneca Niagara Casino did not work out, they would not give us pool time over paying guests. Will look at several other motels with pools today. Capt. Larry

jimski2,That is funny,I have been Keith Kavajecz's Goof as well, with 250 ft of leadcore & fluorocarbon out with a Storm Thunderstick with a small split shot up 20" on the line.Good workout with the 8 lb + walleyes out that far and the boat doesn't stop. The problem with the plastic rodholders is when it gets below freezing temps outside they can break at the dog leg that seats into the base.I had this happen to me four times before I threw the plastic rodholders out and bought all Downeast Rodholders.Tie a good piece of rope to each one of your plastic rodholders and to your boat cleat, save a rod & reel! Over Deep Water Lake Erie Muskie

Brad,Congrads on catching a Buffalo Harbor Muskie! The NFTA will pull the launch docks on Friday and block off the launch with cement barriers. So if your going to fish the Canadian waters of Lake Erie above the Peace Bridge, you will have to launch at Sheridan Drive Launch in Tonawanda and run up.If you do not know all the reefs above the Peace Bridge get a NOAA Chart, don't rely on GPS Mapping you could get into trouble.Be Safe and catch a big girl if you go.I'm going to Dallas,Texas on business then off to the Florida Keys for two weeks of fishing, nice to be retired! Other note: Above Peace Bridge your allowed two rods per person,Below Peace Bridge only One Rod per person. Capt. Larry D. Jones -

Bob, My big motor is still on again--off agian, doesn't always run right.I can't take a chance that it doesn't work right if the conditions went bad up on the 40 Acre Shoals. But I would be happy to split expenses with you if you go up in December with your boat. Capt. Larry -

Today I started out in the Buffalo Harbor by myself after my client forgot he had a charter today. I did not mark much at all on the depthsounder but emerald shinners. So I decided to troll out to deeper water by the mid channel bouey in front of Buffalo to look at a few deep water riseing structures from 41 ft to 27 ft humps.Better looking bait fish and a few hooks there. Looking out a little deeper I noticed a small amarda of about 12 boats bunched up in one area.so I decided I would troll out and see what was up.As I got close to the edge of the boats I noticed that they were catching jumo perch. I also noticed a few bigger hooks, bigger then walleye mixed in with the perch school marks.I started to troll around the perch fishing boats circleing the perch school when the inside rod went off. Up to the boat came a nice Fat 46"er,hard netting with one hand and holding the rod with fish with the other hand.I got the fish in the net,but all wrapped up.After cutting a couple hook points I got the 9$ Bass Legend Plow out of the way and the fish free inside the net bag.I got a quick measurement by floating the Rapala measure stick next to the fish in the water.I decided I had this fish by the boat to long at this point ,forgot about taking pictures and went into revival of the fish.Did not take long, she swam away good. That is the first muskie I've ever caught out over 55 ft of water suspended down 25 ft. I think tomarrow calls for another trip way out over deeper water! Capt. Larry D. Last Sunday the water temp south of the I-86 bridge was 51 degrees and in the North Basin near the Bell Tower it was 55 degrees. The Lake has turned over twice in the last 10 days, even though the water is clearing up it has a black tint to it.Most of the muskies I marked were in 38 to 40 ft of water on bottom, closed mouth!
