Are our soldiers not our citizens? Dude, think about what you are saying. Forefathers were smart guys. The reason they came here in the first place was to get away from an oppresive gov they could not defend themselves from. Ever see the movie Braveheart ? Don"t think it could happen here someday? Look at Germany in the 20's & 30's. Look at Seria today, I'll bet those folks over there wish they had more than a 7 round clip & a double barrel 12 ga.

when you see me int the back of the boat with my rod bent over & me waving at you ,that does not mean cut across Rally Killers Bow & come see me. Thanks Rally Killer for not cutting me off like you could have & probably should have. Just had to take the 16 ftr out this morn for a few hrs & glad I did . Landed 5 all on J plugs & Canadian Plugs. . A nice hook jaw 8# brown ready for the stream , a coho, & 3 kings ,dropped 4 more. Had so much fun I think I will do it again tommorow.

Good or Bad Year?
Has Been replied to Pigsmoker's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
The month of AUG I fished my butt off. Only saw the skunk on one afternoon session. Hit targets almost every time out. The fishin was great in my book. Just happy to be on the water & hooking up once in a while. Had some great days & slower days ,but that's how it goes. -
Car Bombs, Fertilizer & diesel fuel, Molitoff cocktails,Pressure cookers, ETC. If there were no guns it would be the next best thing. My arm ain't as good as it use to be to throw rocks(what we see on TV in the middle east) to defend myself / family. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water because of a few nut jobs. If/when society breaks down , you may wish you had more firepower than you do . And I don't care who reads this.

Not an infinite # of fish out there. A great year one year may mean a not so great year the next as the available fish to catch & spawn have been boxed . Weather is a huge factor. Were the fish in close or did the wind blow the current & good water & bait across the lake where they stayed when winds /weather stabilized ? I figured out a long time ago that every year is the same, they are all different. Two springs ago it was a brown bite, last spring the kings were all over the lake. This spring a lot of lakers.Figuring it out is part of the fun.

Exactly what I have been saying on here since day one. Angler expertice trumps all. Just got back from the ADK's with my buddys on a bass pike trip. They use the same exact same thing I do & I outfish them 5 to one. I tell them & show them but I still catch more. Why? because it is the little things that make all the difference on the slow days. I still say trolling really isn't fishing & the electronics are depended on to much by some. I don't have down temp or speed, I have surface speed but I left the boat in the water all summer & funk grew on the paddle & it wasn't accurate. I didn't even turn on my hanheld GPS most of the time. And I felt I had a pretty good Orleans & LOC derby w/ many kings & steel boated. When I Bass or pike or Fly fish I use my rod to impart action I think makes the fish hit on my lure. When trolling after setting the line , the only way toimpart that action to the lure is by driving the boat

Absolutely Unnecessary

I think you guys are looking at this the wrong way. This to me sounds like an opportunity to have a little fun, get some payback & a little vigilante justice. When you know this guy is out' Everyone suround him & Lob paintsballs at him the entire time he's out there. Get one of those waterballon slingshots & wet down their crew. Have a little fun with it. Don't be intimidated by him. I'm sure law enforcement has had complants. Get some spraypaint & in the middle of the night, Spray paint on the side of his boat something nice like " I'm an A-- Hole" just to show him you care. -
To Reel or Not to Reel

Tend to agree w/ clearing everthing w/ a big fish on . I can have the fish in the boat in less than half the time & way less fish/equipment lost.Seems that I am always manuvering around somthing when I have stuff out w/ a big king & it's more fun to play the fish instead of fighting the boat.I find that when I leave stuff out w/ a big fish on I have to drag him around till its dead so release is less successful. If stuff is out & they are green , they always seem to go for the riggers/lines .I can reset in less than 5 minutes so I feel I actually save valuable time. -

We managed one 20# yest and had a few more on for a couple seconds . Did not see another boat w/ a fish on all yest morn next to us.Was tough. -
I fished there 4 days & only saw one other boat & would like to keep it that way. I tell everyone pretty much everything on here but I'd like to keep that spot to myself. Seen what can happen to a spot if it's to crowded so I wouldn't like to take any chances on it. PMed a few about it. I'll tell the when ,how & what ,just not the where. I'd like to show up and still have it be my happy place.Found it by chance & spent a lot of time figuring it out & learn more about it each time back.I suggest others take a chance, explore & do the same. 20 smallies in 4 days is bragging ?

To Reel or Not to Reel

First thing I do is get slack out of line as quick as possible , then put my finger on the spool & lock them up. If he's a good one I kind of know at that point. I lose way less fish if I Clear at least some lines & slow the boat down as much as possible. Find it not as much fun dragging them behind the boat at 2 mph . -

Just got back from my Happy spot in the ADKS . Last two times up I caught a total of 3 pike all about the same size from the same spot. Use to get quite a few but not as of late. Guy from campsite said last year he saw some bigger ones washed up on shore. Got a bunch of big bass this time & some nice perch , but no pike no speak of. Any thoughts? I am going to contact the DEC in Ray Brook to ask also.

On my 21' I run 2 dipsey & 2 maybe 3 rods on riggers & that is it. Feel I have been doing pretty well the month of Aug w/ that setup. This time of year , Kings, Browns & lakers are very finniky. If the table aint set right, they won't eat. My dipseys are 65 # power pro, standard size BLACK dipsey, 5-7' 40 big game no snubber, Spin DR/ Fly. This has accounted for about 75% of my fish the last 3 weeks. .5-2.5 setting 150 min - 300' back.180 -280 normally, let it back 150 to start & let it click slowly out till you hookup. double wht crush glo & wht glo mtn dew w/ hipnotist or glo green fly 23" + - lead to flasher. My best. Drive boat straight w/ slight s curve while keeping tention on the rods. If you go over fish & they don't hit. Speed boat up a little, turn around & go over them at a diff angle. Better to go a little to fast than to slow . If you turn a lot , you will be varying your lure speed automaticly w/ long dipsey length from boat Temp means little this time of year & is generally overated IMO. Fish thru & below bait to the bottom. I have been fishin 70 - 120 ' 50' to bottom the last month w/ good results, Better to run a few rods correctly than a lot wrong. We had the disscusion this morn on the boat that if it is slow & the fish arn't bitting that it would be a mistake to take proven lure off & put stuff down they would not hit if they were hungry. I have about 10 diff things that work for me & thats about it. When I had a bad day I would go to the store & buy 50 bucks worth of new stuff when I probably had what I needed if I ran it right. Good luck & I feel your pain. Been there done that.

It's not that they don't drive straight,it's that they don't drive correctly. Don't do the things to make the fish hit,to draw a strike. I have tricks I learned over the years that turn slow day into OK days.We will be over fish & I will take over ,do what I do & shortly we hookup. This happens a lot.
-
The last few trips out there was a good bit of chop on the water. I was getting a little aggrivated at both my bro & son on how they were driving . I can tell from the back that our lines were not doing what I thought they should. Said somthing to my Bro & he told me if I could do better to take over. The Last few days if I was not driving we did not hook up. We had around 15 hits the last few day & I was driving for probably 12 of them. A part of the equation not talked about on here to much but is super important IMO. I don't care where you are fishing or what you are using , if you are not doing the right thing, you may as well be mowing your lawn.

Dropped of my youngest at UB and had to leave before The big O showed up & decided to go out on the big O for a while this afternoon. Arrived to a good chop & on the way out it was 4 ftrs & I thought I made a mistake & should have stayed on shore. Put Out a dipsy turned around & BAM. lost that, reset & Bam again . 80-100'depth. 1.5 & 1 setting 200-300 out . Whiteglow w/ glow green & Wht glo mtn dew /hipnotist were key . after 2nd fish just ran three rods, Two dips & one rigger that never moved. . Fish hit like crazy for an 90 min or so ,when lake started to calm a little, they shut down .we ended up w/ 6 in the box.Just so you guys don't think i'm blowin smoke, my son uped a few picks for you.
