Replace the primer ball & speaking from experience , buy a good one .Check all fittings& tank connections also. All you need is a tiny cut in one of the O rings on the Quick connects , or loose hose clamp.

I was doing a job for a lady & she had her craft beads out on the table. I saw some white/ pearl/ holographics ones I said I liked. She gave me a small bag & I have done very well w/ them. I Mix in a chart or green one w them sometimes.

My Surge breaks don't work either. Brought it to a trailer shop & he told me better to switch to electric . To many issues w/ surge.Big Bucks . A friend of mine is going to do his best to try & revive the surge for a cost savings to me. Worked great when new & after being rebuilt one time before. Would pull the truck back kind of when applied . I don't like trailering it without them.

Pap,Isn.t it a gear driven counter like most other line counters? If so ,it is probably in sync w/ the main gears & would be driven by spool revs . If that is the case than the diameter of a full spool vs an empty spool would be diff, wouldn't it ? or am I missing something ?
-
The counter is a reference. How would it be possible to accurately measure distance by how many times the spool revolves when full or empty? Always nice to get a gift like that.

I have been using 65# power pro for the last 4 years. Never had a problem w/ fleas, kinks, etc. . I do make sure I check every 45 min or so ,but feel you should anyway if not hit. Do not see a reason to change other than the fact that T-Bro says he catches 5-1 w/ wire over braid. I have wire & will rig one up this year if I get ambitious. Can't wait to turn a 5 fish day into a 25 fish day.

Take the wire handle off the bucket. Get a 1/2- to 3/4 " drill bit & drill 4 holes in the ring on the bucket equaly spaced . Make a harness w/ a 3' piece of 3/8" rope by going in & out holes around bucket, Tie a square knot on inside of bucket .Tie your pull rope to center of that. Drill about 15 1/2 - 3/4 " holes in the bottom of the bucket. Been using them for 35 years. Pulled a stack of buckets out of the dumpster today & they are soaking in my driveway . Will scrub out in the morn.I really don't need any more but I cou;dn't just let them go to the landfill. I had a plate & I hated it.

Location is the first part of the fishing equation. Need to be over & around fish to catch them. Only speed I have is surface & GPS,I feel do pretty well out there, Follow the Charter boats at first, but not to close. Hard to beat a dipsey flasher/ fly combo for most consistant action. If I had to have one it would be dbl wht crush glow spin & dbl glo fly.

19ft islander getting down to trolling speed

Been using buckets for the last 35 years. Tie mid ship forward of outdowns so they run side of ship. Help stabilze boat in rough sea also. The drywall bucket is one of those things in life that has so many uses. Go to a const site & look in the dumpster . Sometimes you will find a stack of them ,Bring them home fill w. water & let set , Then take a brush & scrub. Watch out for the ones w/ the tops on . They also make a great throw away toilet I have used many times. -
My Cobra says every year. But if I only used it a few times ,it was every other. Pain in the butt to do it yourself & not a one man job, but I have done it myself. Clymers book says Nylock nuts should be replaced every time, but I do it every other & would think locktite would be OK on them ,Don't forget gimble zerk.

I bought some 60# Orvis AR mono tippet . Tied up some harnesses w/ it. Man ,that stuff is stiff. Will let you know. To many issues w/ floro in many fishing situations , but I do think it is needed some days. -

It seems to me that NK and others went to some sort of Epoxy clear coat that can be tough to get off. As of last few years it sometimes peels off in sheets as it does not bond well w/ the silver plate for some reason. I polish w /car wax then wipe w/ paint thinner to get good bond of paint & clear coat. I went to Rustolium Clear coat enamel. About 3-4 coats .Follow dry times before recoating.

Fresh back from a road trip to Naples FLA for my nephs wedding. Got to see him catch his last fish as a bachlor ,a 30 " Snook. Got a nice assmt of fish on the North Jetty at Venice also. My niece shops at this High end market in Naples that has a good assmt of fresh fish. about Oct/Nov she tells me she saw " Lake Ontario Trout" . She said she did not know what kind. I found out where the store was and went down to see if there were some still there. No but there was some Canadian Walleye Fillets. Ask the kid behind the counter who was clueless. I know you can't sell NY trout. So whats up?Is it Canadian? Told my niece to keep her eye out & call me if she saw it again. Great trip, Watched my neph get married on the Naples Princess ,stopped at Jeffersons house Monticello on the way back. Also stopped at Shanksville to pay our repects at the Flight 93 Memorial. Pretty somber place in the middle of nowhere. Park service is doing a good job on building a nice memorial.

Smithwicks can be Awesome in the spring . The rattlin rouges tend to run 5-8'deep off planer boards. And yes , like all sticks , they need to be tuned. I have some I bend the nose down to make them run shallower(mosly the larger ones for this) & have a wide side to side action at slower speeds. I also run them off riggers when in the 10-30' depth of water range. I have caught many a king on one 75-150' back & 5-15 'down .My fave is the silv/green top. Also good is Black/silv/orange belly, Blue/silv & the hard to get purple silv. I use a black & gold one in my fave ADK lake for Pike & Smallmouths. Make sure you use a SMALL snap only or Splitring tied direct & not to heavy line8-10 , 12 # max. I use take my sticks down to the canal & tune them all. Took a while but well worth the time. Also after a fish you may have to retune. -
You can get a cheap buffer for about 25 bucks. I have found that NuFinish in the Orange bottle is great.I use it on my 86 Bayliner & can still see myself in it. Super easy to recoat after a few apps. I Put it on my 17 yr old Fiberglass tub/shower last week & it looks new again . Wife was impressed. When I bought the boat new, I went to the auto parts store & Tim Andrus sold me some Airplane wax he used on his. That stuff was awesome! It rubed out anything and shined great. . I attribute the good finish on the boat now to using that earlier.

I have a larger size silv/ grn one I found floating I put on the downrigger once in a while if it's slow. Got a real nice steelhead & a few kings over the years on it,but I'll catch one fish on it right away if it works & then it goes dead. . Crazy searching action on it.

It is a public pier . There is a nice beach north for a long way. Google earth it to see . I like to get on the end of the jetty & fish on a few of the rocks . On the south jetty I fish mostly on the Gulf side & bounce tipped jigs off bottom .You will need a bait bucket for your shrimp to change water.
