  4. I am having thoughts on getting a bigger boat. But my boat fishes awesome, tons of room, does everything i need. Only thing i want is more speed! I currently have a 350 crate motor holley carb and edelbrock intake mani. on there now estimated 260hp. I am pretty good with motor stuff and have done a lot of work on my truck rebuilding the motor, and building the motor and high hp twin turbo set up on my car. So my thoughts are go bigger boat or... put a fuel injected 383 in there not looking for a race boat but to be able to go high 30's would be nice i can currently go around 27-28 top speed! I was curious if anyone is running one and has trolled with it. I may throw a kicker on but dont mind trolling with the big motor. Just want to know if anyone has one or knows anyone that has one in their boat and if they like it, it is a strocked and bored 350 so was curious if they would be fine idleing at 500rpm for extended time or if the cam's are too aggressive ( can put a low rise cam in as well) but looking to hear if anyone has any experience! or other motors in the 350ish hp range people run? other disadvantages to running fuel injection on the water?
  5. bandrus said survey because he said ANY thoughts and buying a big boat there is much more to it than just driving it. You have to store it, tow it, put more gas in, learn the things the bigger boats ( blowers, all the wiring, out drive maintenance, winterizing the motor, winterizing outdrive, winterizing washdown pump, many other little things break that you don't think about everyday, as well as the extra safety gear you will need) these are the things you have to think about when jumping up to a bigger boat. ( not saying stuff on smaller boats doesn't break, just saying there is that much more in a bigger boat) But if you feel like you can handle repair and maintenance then it is MUCH nicer to fish on lake Ontario with! and driving it comes with time, honestly practice docking a few times when you first get it. try it going straight in, try backing in, when it is windy!! and it really helps when you have others there in case you may hit something! hope this helps not hinders your choice! the Penn Yann's are good fishing boats!

  17. I have people ask all the time if they are good. I say it is all in how it is prepped like ray said. I'll take a nice small one and grill it up on the boat and everyone will devour the whole thing.. or bring it home cook it however you want and make fish patties out of the rest (Google fresh salmon patties) and. They are awesome like that as well. ( all our lake species are). but it is definitely a fish you don't want to sit in the freezer for awhile it will taste fishy. it would be definitely be a blast getting out ice fishing for them if the lake froze safely!
