I haven’t been to Eel Bay but many launches are now open. Too early for perch to be in Eel Bay shallows as they are still out in deep water.
Might be able to get some in Goose Bay or Chippewa. Possibly also at Chaumont or Henderson.
Just wondering what speed you are running that is compatible with both stick baits and spoons?
I generally run 1.8- 2.4 mph on gps but know others run faster.
With the much warmer temperatures predicted in the next couple weeks I’m wondering where the first boat launch access north of Oswego will be. I generally launch at Mexico Point early in the spring. I was fishing browns there by now last year.
Plenty of ice on all the major Bays of St Lawrence. Goose Bay parking lot was overflowing. Chippewa also had many fishing and I imagine LOTI and Eel Bay were loaded as well.
Wheelers and side by sides were present but many folks we walking. Almost no snow on the ice. With projected weather forecast the Alex Bay derby should be well attended.
i watched at Goose Bay for about 20 minutes and only saw 2 pike caught on over 200 tipups

There is actually good walleye fishing from
Cape Vincent to Massena. Guys catch them with bucktails, jigging spoons, worm harnesses, dropsshotting, bladebaits , and trolling stickbaits and deepdivers. They tend to hold close to bottom but sometimes suspend.
I suggest fishing evening and early morning and fishing the edge of the channel in 30-50 fow. Most all the channel marking bouys can hold fish.
At night they move shallower and can at times be caught in 15-25 fow. During the day they move deeper and sometime are caught in 75 fow or deeper.
After catching many eaters this summer the last couple times out some bigger fish have shown up. I’m wondering if the fish are on the move with bigger ones showing up. Seem to be fewer fish but bigger ones.
Fishing the bays is tough in the summer but should pick up soon for pike, walleye and pickerel with the fall bite. From what I’ve seen and heard the laker, brown and salmon fishing has been one of the best in many years although has slacked in the last couple weeks due to warm water top to bottom. As for the bass fishing the eastern basin an st Lawrence is rated #1 in the nation. It’s also the only place in the state that has no limit on perch.
It is a big lake with lots of fishless water. Perhaps you should book a charter and see what is working in this region as there are plenty to be caught. Also fish can move quickly and what was hot yesterday May be empty today.
Went out with the intention of hitting the walleyes and perch but tossed a gun in for good measure.
Walleye bite was slow but we caught 3 early and then were able maneuver a drift down into range on a flock of geese.
We then tried the perch but couldn’t find a good school. Ran down river to try some old smallmouth spots with little to show. Just before we left we hit 2 smallmouths and a wallleye to finish our morning.
