  1. I got another turkey and had a great day last week with 11 browns, 2 walleyes (one 30") and a pike (32"). Headed to Quinte for walleye tournament and then to Cape Cod for stripers. Can't beat May except for the weather the last two weeks.
  2. Yep 150-200' back and run Smithwicks, Jointed Rapalas and Spoons 1.8-2.4 mph.
  3. Black River Bay has been good so far. Caught a 30" and a 22" walleye and also a 32" pike last week in about three hours.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Delvon Bullock is a former student of mine that spent his senior year of High School living with a former player, RustyShultz and his wife Tina. Delvon is soon to be deployed to Quantanimo Bay, Cuba. Rusty wanted to take him for a day on the water and what a day we had. We launched at Stony at 6:00 and had caught 11 browns (4-6 pounders) by 8:30. During one frenzy we had triples on and hit a forth before we had netted all the others. After returning to the launch and a quick trip down route 3 we launched at Sackets to try for walleye and pike. Three hours latter we had caught two walleyes (22" and 30") and a 32" pike and even a jumbo perch. The trophy walleye is headed for the taxidermist as a memento to Delvon's day on the water.. ====================
  5. Glad you got into the great action. This spring has been amazing!
  6. I'm going on Thursday as well. Also heard the walleyes are hitting up at Lisbon and in Black River Bay.
  7. Caught two with lamprey yesterday. One fish had 4 alewives in it's belly. Fishing has been great from Mexico to Stony. Once you find them you catch them. Interestingly of over 100 fish boated this year I've only caught 1 small steelhead the rest all browns.
  8. Lots more days of good weather in the forecast and I'll be at it again tomorrow or Thursday..

Steady pick in tight, caught a fish or two every pass. Fish were still wacking when we pulled. ====================
  10. Fished the opener at Quinte this weekend. Had a group of 14 at Mr Walleye's camp and we all caught lots of fish. Biggest fish were only about 3 lbs. but we caught lots of eaters. Bottom bouncers with spinner and worm did the trick in 8-20 FOW. Great food, good fishing and great friends!

Hit one right off the bat and trolled east with no action. spun around and returned to first way point and hit 6 more quickly. Other boats moved in and wind and waves picked up and we were out of fish we so called it an early day. Mostly smaller size but a couple mid-sizers. ====================
  12. Look for water that is greenish color and warmer in temperature. When I see clear water and am not hitting fish I make a run. Often fish are along a mud line near shore or at a river mouth Direction of the wind will often take this mud line with it. I often put a split shot or two, three feet ahead of sticks or spoons, especially if fishing water deeper than 8'. Also will use riggers when in deeper water. I like to use 10 lb. line and fairly long leads(100-175') Without boards you might even run longer leads. The fish definitely move around . Some days they are in tight in 5 fow and other days in 20 fow. If you're not hitting fish don't be afraid to pick up and move. Also vary your speed by making S turns if traffic allows. This often triggers hits and may also help if you're flat-lining. We've been doing well on silver/green spoons and natural sticks. Also fish seem to shut down after 11:00 or so. We seem to do best at sunrise and for the first few hours there after. My brother and I have been turkey hunting the last two mornings and have taken two Toms and a Jake but may head back to the Lake this week if weather cooperates. I may run out of Stony as it's closer to home and I hear they are hitting there as well.
  13. After doing intelligence work last evening we returned to the fields this morning. My brother, Ken, took out a Jake and I got a nice Tom. Ken also took a good Tom yesterday and my friend Pete called and also got a Tom this morning. Just like the Navy Seals, we gave them one to the head.
  14. Good going. We've done the turkey thing the last two mornings and have taken two Toms and a Jake. I've been running to Mexico and have had good success on the btrowns but think I'll try closer to home this week. Thanks for the post.
  15. Sounds like a great outing. We did the turkey thing this morning but plan to return this week.
  16. I've caught a couple gulls but never trolling. Glad you had another great days.
  17. My brother, Ken, arrived Thursday from Cape Cod. We did some scouting and set up his blind. Friday we headed to Lake Ontario and caught a nice limit of browns by 7:30. This morning he took a nice Tom with 1" spurs I passed on a small Jake as I have may days left to hunt. The next two weekends I'm headed to Quinte for walleyes, followed by a trip to Cape Cod for strippers, and then some fly fishing at St Regis Falls. Gosh I love May. Only wish it had more than 31 days!
  18. Yum, Did some with dark brown sugar and some with my neighbors dark maple syrup.
  19. I smoked some yesterday and couldn't tell the difference either.
  20. But some of the silver ones have orange flesh and others have whitish flesh. But it must be diet related.
  21. I have a question concerning the flesh color of the brown trout. Why are some beautiful orange and others a whitish gray? I thought the thinner gold colored ones that had ventured up the rivers had the lighter colored flesh but some of the fat silver footballs also have the lighter flesh while others have the beautiful orange flesh. Any ideas? Does the color effect the flavor of the fish?
  22. Fishing Report Longlegg ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):4/30 Time on Water:6:30-11:30 Weather/Temp partly cloudy Wind Speed/Direction: W to NW Waves: 1-2 Surface Temp: 46-51 Location:Mexico Bay to Seljirk LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 13 Total Boated:12 Species Breakdown:browns Hot Lure: spoons Trolling Speed: 2-2.7 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 5-15 Lure Depth: shallow ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS First light had rods popping. Couldn't get all the rods set for the first hour and had our limit of nine by 7:30. Several doubles and at times only had one rod set. A couple of 6-8 lbs and one about 9 lbs. the rest were cookie cutters. At about 9:00 the wind shifted and we couldn't find the fish. Washed lures for two hours without a take. Fished toward Selkirk and found warm muddy water but still no fish. Waves kicked up and we headed in. A lot more traffic out today. A bit of combat fishing, at times, but I expect that on the weekends. ====================

There were three drift boats working near shore so we headed shallower and had a steady pick. Ended the day with a pair of doubles. Glad we didn't listen to the weatherman as we had no ran amd a decent day until we were driving home. ====================
