Tampa Bay Bucs local player / someone special
Kevin J Legg replied to Frogger's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
As a Hobart alumni I have followed his amazing career. Here’s a guy that is truly a great roll model, unlike so many pro athletes these days. Now he has a ring!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Years ago 4 of us shot 17 snowshoes in January with no snow on the ground. That was at Fort Drum. Another time we got 16 on my wife’s family farm in Canton. That was nearly 40 years ago. Now habitat has matured and predator numbers have increased. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I’ve had a couple experiences with both coyotes and foxes and turkey. Several times I’ve had coyotes come into my turkey decoys/ calls while hunting. One even grabbed a down bird and I had to scare it off. Also saw one following two birds across a field. I also had a fox attempt to grab a downed turkey that was flopping and didn’t want to leave. Deer hunting I had a fox come by when turkeys went to roost and I used a mouth squeak to shoot it. They definitely zero in on them in my area. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Looks to me like we might make it through January with no below zero temperatures. Most all places with ice fishing access have been very crowded. There were 20 vehicles at Hyde Lake parking area this morning. Lot was full and a couple parked up the hill. The 1000 Islands area has been absolutely pounded the last couple weeks. I heard it opened up all the way to Cherry Island and into Guffins Bay. Not sure what the two shanties were fishing for but perhaps perch as I didn’t see tipups. Looks like it might tighten up next week. Big crowds on LOTI and Goose Bay as many from downstate are looking for safe ice. We fished both spots this week and it was very slow for us. Aluminum boat recommendations
Kevin J Legg replied to greenhornet73's topic in Welcome to Lake Ontario United - Fishing Forum
I’ve had an 18’ Lund Alaskan since 2007. It tows easily and rides well. It can handle anything I care to fish in on Lake Ontario. It’s also a very versatile boat and can be used with a blind as a duck boat. If you are looking for something a bit larger they make a 20 footer. Many river rats on the SLR own Alaskans.
